--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: This week had the Marine Corps birthday on Tuesday and Veteran's Day on Weds. Hubby took vacation for Tuesday (he's a Marine) and had Weds off. Tuesday we did some errands and then we vacuumed and washed all 4 vehicles. The rain came in Tuesday night and we got 5.75" of it. It was heavy enough at times to cause the skylight in our bathroom to leak more than it had been. We knew it would need replaced but had hoped to wait until next year. Instead it's time to replace it now. I hate 2020. I had a guy come out and give us an estimate and it looks like we'll be replacing that one and the one in the kids' bathroom, too since they are both 20 yrs old. Hubby and I are handy enough to do the job ourselves, but I didn't fucking want to. LOL

Closet update: I'm still going through stuff (been kinda lazy about it) and I bought some organizers for it (scarves, ties, and purses) that I need to set up and fill. I also bought some organizers for the kitchen cabinets as I need to move some things around and get rid of some tupperware. Does that shit reproduce or what?! Still need to clear the spot for the garden shed so we can order it from Lowe's and I have what I need to make the firewood holders. Then the boys can fire up the log splitter and get splitting & stacking. Lots of projects to do, but no motivation to do them. Actually, when I am motivated the weather isn't cooperating. At least, that's what I tell myself. LOL

Touching Nature: Weird North Carolina weather which is typical. It was warm, upper 70s, and humid. Rain moved in Tuesday overnight and ended by Friday morning leaving us with 5.75" of the wet stuff.  At least we've cooled back down to normal Fall-like weather again and the rain knocked down a large portion of the leafy menace so Backpack Blower and I were able to clear the enemy from our territory yesterday. I'm hoping this concludes Leafageddon 2020. (Edit to add: Since I drafted this post last night I have to add that I got up this morning and the leafy fuckers are back on the drive. I will have to boot their asses this week. *sigh*)

Book News: I've got my NetGalley shelf whittled down to 14 books and I'm at 92%. Woot! I had hoped to have more of them done for NetGalley November but the year kinda got away from me and I didn't get to them all. I won't have any reviews next week while I try to get a few more books read. It's possible I could get another 3 or 4 before the last week. However, I'm not going to stress over it. I have other books I want to read and 2 tour books for December as well as 3 books I need to judge for the BBNYA. I have plenty to read.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Perry Mason on DVD. We only have a few disks left. I'm still loving The Madalorian, but am disappointed in the shortness of the episodes. WTF

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Nope

Randomness:  Well, that's not very fair.

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: I had a nugget to share, but I didn't write it down and I promptly forgot it. So, write shit down so you won't forget.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. I love how productive you are your hubby are...kind of jealous too because trying to get my husband to help is like a chore all by itself.

YAY! For Netgalley. I can't get to 100% since I didn't review a book or two and even thought I archived it, they don't count it. Grrrr!!!

I hope you have a great week Carol! I try to write stuff down but sometimes I even forget to do that! ;) Happy Reading! xx

    1. We're kinda low-key busy. There's so much more we could be doing, but neither one of us is a type A personality. lol

I'll never get to 100% due to non-reviews and I'm ok with that. I just want to have my shelf cleared.

Thanks, Michelle! I hope you have a great week, too! XOXO

  2. I need to clean out my closets but they still haven’t put back the donation bins after removing them when coronavirus hit, so I have nowhere to put all the culled stuff.
I wish my husband or I were the DIY type, we have so many projects that need doing.

Wishing you a great reading week

    1. We donate to Hospice. They have a restore and they are accepting donations 3 days a week now. I need to get this done so I can get these bags of clothes out of here.

It does help being handy, but sometimes the money we save on a project just takes too damn long and that's where it's better to fork over cash for a professional to do it. lol

      Thank you and you too!

  3. It's wonderful how much you and your husband can accomplish. With the rain and the coming cooling down, I am switching to indoor projects. But the leaves are still waiting. It does look like most of them are off the trees now but not quite all. I still have some unpacking to do from the move last year and with everything this year I just haven't felt motivated either. Right now, I'm in a big blog ahead mode, setting up basic stuff for 2021.

I always love hearing about your week! Have a great one and stay well!

    1. In an apocalypse I think we'd do ok. lol

It looks like we'll be clear most of this week so I'm going to try to get the firewood holders ready and the boys canhelp me move some wood to clear the ground for the shed. Hubby is rebuilding the tractor so it should be done some time this week, too and that will help with stumps and such.

I really need to get into a blog ahead mode, too. Maybe the next rainy day that should be my goal. But I also have lots of inside projects...it never ends, right? At least we'll never be bored. :D

Thank you! I hope you have a great and healthy week!

    1. I hear you on that. If the shelf bracket hadn't failed and we had to completely redo the closet, I would still be stepping over stuff in there. lol

      Thank you and you, too!
