Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front: A fairly quiet week for once though next week has a lot on the calendar. We went to the Carolina Hurricanes home opener Thursday night and traffic was dreadful. We left with what we thought was plenty of time, but a 45 minute ride turned into nearly 2 hrs. Then we had to park a million miles away from the arena and missed the puck drop. Then the Canes lost. So, yeah. Blerg. But we all did get a nice towel out of it. And we waved them around and got loud. To no avail. *sigh*
In other news, my baby turns 18 today. All of my children are now officially adults. How did that happen?! Kyle graduated in June, he gets to vote next month, and he'll start college next semester (he took this semester off for the break). Now, if my three youngest would move out my parenting job would be complete. LOL Just kidding. I don't mind having them around. Though I'll probably need to kick them out of the nest at some point.
Touching Nature: Still in the 80s during the day even though we're officially in Fall mode. So ridiculous.
Book News: I'm reading books from my NetGalley backlog for NetGalley November and doing fairly well at it. I have 3 reviews to write and 17 more books to read for November. However, I'm going to read 2 creepy books for the end of October, so I'll (hopefully) finish 19 books before too long. I'm not too worried about getting the reading done. It's writing the reviews that will kill me. lol
Don't Touch That Dial!: The Indians were off until Friday night so the boys and I watched more of season 5 Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I am really not liking this season. Also, I think it's funny that Catherine Dent played a cop in The Shield and now she's playing an Air Force General in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Yeah, I'm weird. lol
At the Flicks: Nothing yet. I think Venom came out Friday though.
Cyberspace Playground: Still playing Pokémon GO! and Word Shaker. I do the daily puzzle with hubby on Wordscapes, but I have not yet finished the entire game. I have something like 6 puzzles left and it's a bit depressing. I guess I need to find another game to replace it.
Randomness: The things my eldest spawn shares on my Facebook wall. lmao

Seriously though. Everyone should know how to drive a manual transmission. You never know when it will come in handy. Like an apocalypse. Just sayin'.
That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

Our son moved out over the summer..something we thought would never happen. So we are enjoying an empty nest. However my daughter is talking about moving back for a while with the Royals..in which case it will be chaos! We recorded the Flyers last night who were playing in Denver only to discover it was blacked out..because an 8 hour trip to Denver is just a skip and a hop. Smh.
ReplyDeleteWe've given up George's room twice (almost a third time) to people (not George) moving in then back out. So, when Anna, Trip, and/or Kyle move out we might as well leave their rooms as is. lol
DeleteThe Indians are a Cleveland team and they were playing in Houston. I'm in NC. So...wtf? I will never understand the black out bullshit for any sport. We saw some fans at the Hurricanes game (Canes were playing the Islanders) wearing their Flyers jerseys. They booed my hubby wearing his Penguins jersey. lol
At this point my kids may not leave at 18 so Scot and I decided that we are just going to move out. Honestly it's so expensive out in the world it's easier to just live together. :) they usually come home anyway.
ReplyDeleteWe have been sort of playing Pokemon Go. We will during this next event but they need to do a major update soon.I want the next region already.
Have a great week, Carol! Happy Reading! ox
I agree about everything being expensive. Yikes! No wonder so many young adults still live with their parents.
DeletePokemon GO is irritating me. It crashes all the time and it's gotten kinda boring. I agree it needs a major update.
Thanks! I'll try! XOXO
Hsppy Birthday to your baby. 😊
ReplyDeleteHaha, that pumpkin picture is awesome. I miss going to hockey games. The one you went to didn’t sound too fun, though. Happy birthday to your baby!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
It's hilarious! lol It wasn't the best time we've had, but not the worst, so there is that. :D Thank you!
