Fifteen-year-old Michael
Turcotte lives in Fall River, Massachusetts with his guardian Detective
Samantha Reilly. When Michael was three his parents were involved in a
murder-suicide and Sam had been keeping an eye on Michael all through the
foster care system. After the events in Seeing
Evil, Sam becomes his guardian, but they are having difficulty finding a
comfortable even ground. When Michael is kidnapped Sam breaks out all the stops
to find him and figure out if they want to use him for his special ability –
seeing people’s fates by touching them – or for some other reason. All Michael
wants is for the curse to stop. In the meantime, the past is coming back to
haunt them, but they have no idea why.
Man, oh, man! How to
write this review without spoilers is quite the challenge. So, I won’t. If you
have not read Seeing Evil, then you
really should in order to have a richer experience reading this one. Michael
and Sam’s story continues and while there are bad guys doing bad things in the
city, what is really interesting is what’s going on with Michael, his
nightmares, and how his past is tying into his present. Seriously, this is
impossible to write. I’ll just say, read it! But read book 1 first. Trust me on
this.
