--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. We traveled to Ohio Monday night. Yes, night. We left at 9pm and rolled in at mom's at 5:45am. Pro: no traffic. I mean, seriously, very little. At times, in WV, it felt like the apocalypse had happened. We would go miles without seeing any vehicles on the highway. It was awesome! However...Con: Can we say exhausted? LOL We spent time with mom and got to see my niece who has been away for 26 months with the Peace Corps in Cameroon. She just got back this month. Saw other family too before heading to Southern Ohio to see my FIL and his girlfriend (they've been together 20 yrs. Is she still a "girlfriend" at this point? Idk) on Friday. We're leaving this evening for home and will once again drive through the night in the hopes of avoiding the major holiday traffic. By the time you read this we should be home, unloaded, and taking a nap. *fingers crossed*

Touching Nature: Omfg. The wind! The wind rolled over us all day Weds and Weds night. It was gusting at 50+mph. We woke up Thurs to see part of the corn crib roof had been folded back like a soft taco shell. Mom's going to call insurance, but really it's not worth fixing at this point. The building has been slowly deteriorating over the years (my dad built it in 1969), so she'll probably have it demolished. Temps dropped, saw a snow flurry or two then nothing. As of this drafting (Saturday morning) it's raining in Southern Ohio and chilly. I'm hoping we don't drive the entire way back in the rain because that sucks.

Book News: There's no news to report on this front. I haven't read a single thing this week and I hate working on my laptop, so no review writing either. I'm taking this week off from the blog. Then I'll get back into the swing of things.

Don't Touch That Dial!: We managed to watch The Mandalorian at my FIL's. Thank goodness we brought our Roku stick. lol The Hurricanes have sucked the last two games and Trip says it's because we aren't at home where he can do his game time rituals. They play tonight and we'll be traveling so they'll probably lose again. Well, according to him. lol

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Nope

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Patience, you need copious amounts for small children and elderly parents. Dumbasses are fair game.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  2. Glad you got home safe! Love the new header ;)
When we drove from Florida it was awesome leaving super early but I would love to do the over night instead. That seems like it could be a great ride. We drove for 3 hours in the rain to florida it was no fun at all!

Have a great week, Carol! Happy Reading! xx

  3. Well it's a good strategy for traffic with the night driving but I don't think I could do it. I hope it went well. It's been rainy here this long weekend but not too cold. The terms girlfriend and boyfriend always sound like teenage. I don't know what works though; all the labels suck. Have a great week!

  6. Your blog looks so Christmassy! When I was a kid, we always left for road trips in the middle of the night. It was usually very empty out there. I hope you have a good week!
