--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: We're vehicle shopping. We're debating fixing the things wrong with our 2000 Montana (to the tune of about $4000 if we fix everything - some things we could just not fix, we've lived this long without a working fuel gauge, for example) or finding a used vehicle. Our dilemma is that we don't really want to put more money into ours, but we put an engine in it in 2012 and it only has about 40K miles on it. Plus, it has all the room I need. So far, we could fix it for cheaper than finding a used vehicle to replace it. And it's a vehicle we know well. We know what we've fixed and we've taken care of it. A used car would be a crap shoot. So, that's what I've been doing this week. I'm dropping it off at the mechanic's this week so he can give it a good going over and see if there's anything that needs fixing that I don't already know about. What a pain in the ass.

In other news: We're Falling Back! An extra hour of sleep tonight! WOOT!

Touching Nature: Gorgeous, if a bit warm for this time of year and then starting Fri evening rain and cooler temps moved in.

Book News: Um, I completely missed my Blogoversary. 6 years, baby! :D

I've started posting my NetGalley November posts. I started at 55%, posted 6 books and it only raised up to 56%. This is going to take forever.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Trip and I finished Season 4 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  What.In.The.Holy.Hellfire?! We did not like the latter half of the season. And that finale? NO. I guess we'll see how this goes with the new season starting next month, but I'm not hopeful. Now we need to find something else to watch. I think we'll do Jessica Jones since there's only one season then do Daredevil and start back at the beginning of Arrow. There's also Flash and Supergirl and soon The Punisher. So, we'll see how this goes. The final season of Longmire will also be out on Netflix on the 17th. I see hubby and I binge watching that.

At the Flicks: It's November! Woot!

Cyberspace Playground: Nothing except Wordscapes. Still.

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Educate yourself on how a vehicle works. Especially if you're a woman. Unscrupulous places will fuck you if they can get away with it. Find a good mechanic by word of mouth. They are worth their weight in gold. I grew up on a farm with a handy dad then my first husband was a mechanic. My current hubby knows quite a bit about cars. I've picked up a lot over the years. If I'm car shopping I know what to look for. I don't worry about a mechanic because we found a great place here in NC years ago. Well, we found a second great place. Our first great place, the mechanic was murdered. I wish we knew why. It was on a weekend, so it wasn't at his workplace. We think our mechanic was helping a drug addict and the guy shot him. Mack would have given the shirt off his back to someone in need, so why shoot him? So...yeah. All we know is the guy was arrested. Anyway...get yourself edumacated about car basics. Try YouTube. YT has everything.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

From the library
I went on a big of a graphic novel binge.
Most are ones I thought Trip might like to read,
but there are a few I wanted to give a whirl.
I will list only the ones I believe I'll read.
Otherwise I'll be here all day. Yes, it is quite a stack. lol

  2. happy Blogversary!! Woot! Woot! It's time for me to find a new car as well. My Hunny's uncle has a pretty nice car for sale ans we're considerin buying it. Gotta work out this budget first and see what happens! Next week I'll be picking up my books for HoHoHoRAT and I plan on adding a few graphic novels too. I want to read the LumberJanes! (side note: I made a mistake and put LimberJanes at first--that would definitely be a book to pick up LOL) Have a wonderful week and happy reading!!

  5. Congrats on 6 years. Mine is coming up in February. My car is the same year as yours. The engines been rebuilt and a lot of the usual parts replaced and it still looks great, so I'm hanging on to mine too. Our weather is around 80 and mostly sunny and I actually bought new shorts and flip flops this week. LOL

  6. Congrats on six years!!! That's a big milestone! Our weather warmed up again. It is hard to tell it is fall and not still summer. When it came to the point that I was putting more money into fixing my car than what I bought it for (and in less than 5 years owning), I finally let my now ex-fiance and his family convince me to take the leap and buy a new vehicle. One of the four best things he ever did for me (behind getting Baby, buying my Kindle, and telling me he didn't want to marry me). It's a hard decision to make. I hope your mechanic doesn't come back with anything else to add to the list. That story about your original mechanic sounds crazy!!

  7. I know those feels. My NetGalley ratio seems to hover at 45%-ish... so at least you're above 50! That's already an achievement :)
