AVR News Update
Our weather has been all over the place this week. First, we were hot and humid, then it was an abso-fucking-lutely gorgeous sunny and 70s and now it's cool and rainy. Mother Nature, you need to really get your shit together.
School starts in one week and I haven't bought one single school supply or item of clothing for the kids, but Thursday we're planning to get it all done. Freshman Orientation is Tuesday and 8th grade Open House is Thursday evening. I have no idea when Open House or whatever they call it for Juniors is since they haven't bothered to send out any letters and there's nothing on the website. Ah, joy.
I've been busy reorganizing my Excel Review spreadsheets and they're really starting to shape up and make more sense now that I don't have everything listed on one worksheet. So much easier to find shit when I have multiple tabs. Yeah, it took me awhile, but I hate change.
You may have noticed (or not) that I've added Bloglovin' for those who want to follow that way. I'll be visiting everyone today and following if you have it.
Lastly, Grand Central Forever Yours auto-approved me on NetGalley and I have exerted commendable willpower to restrain myself. *sheepish look* I've also got some yummylicious-looking books coming all the way from Sweetmeats Press (Mature Adults~18+) in London and some audiobooks coming from Macmillan Audio. I'll share those on my Shelf Additions when they actually arrive.
AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

*once again too many to list*
Really, I don't think I'll ever have so few I can list them here. Maybe I'll save this category for when I snag one I badly wanted and was waiting for.
Congrats on being auto-approved! Still haven't reached that milestone yet.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your haul!
Here's my Sunday Post
I feel like I win the lottery when I get Auto-Approval. LOL Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteCongrats and I hope you like Morgan's Diary ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks! 2 more days and I'll have Morgan's Diary! :D
DeleteGreat haul. There are some good looking ones there. ;)
ReplyDeleteJenea @ Books Live Forever's Sunday Post
Thanks! Ikr! Nommies as I call them. lol
DeleteCongrats on your auto-approval! I haven't ventured onto NetGalley.
ReplyDeleteI'm envious of you having reorganized your excel spreadsheet. I add my books to a spreadsheet, but I'm not very good with excel so my efforts to tweak it don't work so well. :(
Good luck with school starting! Have a good reading week.
NetGalley is book crack. LOL
DeleteI'm still working on them and while I'm no expert (took a computer class back in 2003), they're finally taking shape. :)
Thanks for stopping by!
I track my reading and reviews on excel too and using different tabs rocks :-) So easy to figure out what I need to read and how big of a mess I'm in regarding backlogs :O
ReplyDeleteYay, auto approval! Enjoy :-)
Backlogs are the devil! lol I'm getting there though. :)
DeleteThanks and thanks for visiting!
Ok get ready for a long comment - there's just so much to say :-) LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever noticed where you live on here, but your weather sounds as frustrating as ours in DFW right now! Mother Nature please make up your mind, preferably in the mid 70s, with mild rain in the evenings. Thanks!
Ugh - good luck with all the school stuff. My stepson starts 8th grade this year - his mom is doing half the school shopping and we're doing the other half. Neither of us has started yet - so this will be a fun week. :/ Part of our problem is the school has sent two different lists of required supplies that are entirely different, so I know what you mean about the frustrating communication from schools...
I'm super curious about your excel spreadsheets - what do you track on there? I just use goodreads, Shelfari, and lots of finger crossing. Probably could use a better method, but I'm so new to blogging I haven't even thought about it until now.
Congrats on the auto approve and maybe even bigger congrats on the restraint! Love some of those books you've added this week too - the covers of Fearless, The Film Student and Me, and Death's Lover have me going to goodreads to add them ASAP. And Naked Sushi - ok that's too good to be true!! LOL
Sorry I wrote a book... I just had too much to say! Have a great week :-)
LOL! I live in NC, so the weather is supposed to be fairly mild. Mother Nature has apparently thrown out the manual.
DeleteSchool shopping will be done on Thurs and I will cross my fingers that we will do it all in one shot.
I had one sheet that just listed the books as I got them by date. Then it grew too unwieldy, so I decided it was time to divide everyone out into their own tabs. I have a tab just for indie authors now and then I have tabs for various publishers, print books, NetGalley, books won, my Friday Featured posts and some others. It's so much easier to just click a tab and see where I'm at. Plus, I bought a monthly planner because I like something physical in my hands I can just flip open and see what's what.
I have very little restraint when it comes to books, so I was proud of myself. And I agree about Naked Sushi. I was like...what?? Must have! LOL
No worries! Thanks and have a great week, too!
Oh you did have fun on NetGalley. That place is worse than a candy store! :D Congrats on the auto-approval from Forever Yours!
ReplyDeleteI'm also curious about your spreadsheets. I tried using them when I first started blogging but they didn't work for me.
NetGalley is book crack for me. I'm falling behind and need to make a few days NetGalley days to get caught up.
DeleteI'm sure I'm under utilizing Excel because I had a computer class way back in 2003 and don't remember much, but this new way seems to be working so far. I still need to transfer some books to their new tabs, but for the most part I'm done. Everyone has various ways they keep track. I'm sure I'll find something different one day, but for now I'll stick with this. lol
Thanks for stopping by! :)
Everything looks good, hope that you enjoy
ReplyDeleteI hope so, too!
DeleteThanks for visiting! :)
Some great steamy reads! Enjoy!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't seem to pass up the steamy reads. lol
DeleteThanks! And thanks for stopping MLC!
I was auto approved by the same publisher -- so tempting! Looks like you had a great haul!
ReplyDeleteI have all the school shopping to do, too. I'm taking all three of my kids out Wednesday for clothes and supplies. Should be loads of fun - not. LOL.
Auto Approval is great! I like knowing I don't have to wait and if I see something I like I can just add it to my sheets right then.
DeleteThurs is our day. Yeah...fun...lol Good luck!
Thanks for stopping by! :)
I am an auto-approved for them and others..and yes we need to use control. I spoke to someone on facebook yesterday and was aghast when they told me they accept every book from their "approved publisher". and I was all like how do you review that many? Well apparently she doesn't...but I am old school and if you give me a book...well I try to read and review it! LOL Enjoy your week my friend and I hope the weather makes up its mind!
ReplyDeleteI've also got approval for a few others and the level of restraint is mind boggling. lol
DeleteO.O Every book? No, I can't do that. I read the blurb and if it sounds good I'll add it. I try to go by my gut. If I hesitate after reading the blurb I usually pass. Not always, but usually. If I accept a book then I will read it. It may take me awhile, but I will get to it as quickly as possible.
I hope the weather does, too. Thanks for stopping by! :)
Thanks for visiting my blog...I love the cover on your Alice in Wonderland.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, my Kindle is named Sparky! Portal...interesting.
It is a nice cover. I haven't read Alice since I was a kid. I reviewed a steampunk Alice called 'Gears of Wonderland' and it made me want to revisit her.
DeleteI never thought to name my Fire until I saw other people naming their Kindles. lol There are some good ones out there.
Thanks for visiting! :)
Anne McCaffrey huh? I may have to check that out, I've read some of her stuff but not all of it. Nice to see someone reading and reviewing those. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteI love Anne McCaffrey. I'm going to read the Freedom series next for my Time Turners.
DeleteThanks! You, too and thanks for stopping by! :)
I know what you mean about the weather. We've been having the same type.
ReplyDeleteI've been looking at those Cosmo Red Hot reads. They look great.
Enjoy your week and reading!
The weather has been really strange these past few years.
DeleteI'm curious about them. I read Cosmo for a few years, but that was awhile ago. Should be interesting. ;)
Thanks and you, too! :)
I recently read Hold Me Closer, Necromancer and I really really liked it! I hope you like it as much as I did :D I'm looking forward to reading the next book.. the sucky thing is there's really no word on when the third book (or any of the others) are coming out in the series.. so I've been holding off on reading it even though I really want to!
ReplyDeleteHaha do you happen to live in Michigan? Michigan weather is so crazy, we have a saying here "Don't like the weather? Wait 5 minutes." :D
Have a great week!
April @ My Shelf Confessions
It looks interesting, so I hope I like it, too. The title cracks me up because it reminds me of the Elton John song. lol
DeleteI live in NC, but I'm originally from OH and we always said that. Just as we always said that the state national flower is construction barrels. LOL
Thanks and you, too! Thanks for visiting! :)
Some great new reads this week. Hope you enjoy all you read. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope so, too! *fingers crossed*
DeleteThanks for stopping by! :)
I've been thinking of checking out Hold Me Closer, Necromancer! Congrats on the auto-approval!
ReplyDeleteAwesome haul, happy readings! Thanks for stopping by Bookmunchies
The title immediately made me think of the Elton John song. Probably it was meant to do that. lol Thanks!
DeleteThanks! You're welcome and thanks for visiting! :)
Great Haul! Naked Sushi? Sounds intriguing :-) Have a fabulous week!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Ikr! The title caught my eye and after reading the blurb, well, as the Borg said on Star Trek: Resistance is futile. LOL
DeleteThanks and you, too! :)
Congrats on the auto approval for NetGalley. Great haul by the way. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks! And you, too! Thanks for visiting! :)
DeleteCongrats on the auto approval! It's so hard to refrain from downloading all of the books once you get it, lol. I really want your weather...I'm in Georgia, where it's supposed to be hot but instead it's windy and rainy. It's so freaking backwards. Anyway, happy reading and I hope you have a good week!Following via Bloglovin
ReplyDeleteThanks! Great restraint has been shown. I deserve a medal or something. LOL
DeleteThe weather has really been messed up. My own personal view is the Industrial Age has really screwed the weather patterns (as well as many other things). It's going to take a long time to repair the damage we (as in humans) did (and still do, to be frank) in our ignorance or willful stubbornness. Oops. Need to step off my soapbox. lol
Thanks for stopping by! :)
Nice haul! Congratulations on the auto-approval. I enjoyed your Time Turner review; McCaffrey remains one of my favorite authors. Have you read the tribute to her, Dragonwriter? If you're a fan of hers, you would probably enjoy it. (I reviewed it last week.)
ReplyDeleteI'll be following you through Bloglovin!
Thanks!
DeleteI just saw 'Dragonwriter' the other day and need to read it. I was so sad when she died. :(
Thanks and thanks for visiting! :)
Using a planner for my reviews helps with going crazy on Netgalley because I see what books I already agreed to review. This helps me keep it realistic about how much time I actually have to read and write reviews before I go to crazy. Plus, actually tackling the books I already own is a priority right now.
ReplyDeleteHope you get everything finished for back to school, it can be so stressful and there is always so much to do.
I use a monthly planner as well as Excel, but I still seem to go a bit crazy. I just blame it on being a Pisces. ;)
DeleteThursday is shopping day. *fingers crossed* we'll get it all done. I truly hate shopping. Well, except when it comes to books. Or chocolate. :D
Thanks for visiting!
I have a bad habit of downloading too many freebies on Amazon too lol
ReplyDeleteYou can read my Sunday Post here
I'll never get to them all unless I can find a smexy non-sadistic vampire to turn me. ;)
DeleteThanks for visiting! :)
Freebies are addictive! Great looking books you have there, enjoy your reads!
ReplyDeleteI'm a member of Freebie Hoarders Anonymous. LOL
DeleteThanks and thanks for stopping by! :)
Hold me closer necromancer is on my wishlist. Actually my wishlist is growing at an alarming rate! AND I've downloaded about 25 freebies since Sunday!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's an epidemic! I've been telling everyone that for awhile now. lol
