Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front
Sunday ~ Slept ok. Up around 8:30. Daylight Savings Time is so fucking stupid. I was actually still up when the time changed. lol Pain is acceptable, but swelling entered the chat late yesterday and has decided to settle in. Fed the furries and Trip walked the dogs for me. I spent the day mostly resting. I did do the dishes and throw a load of towels in the wash, but it was all about taking meds on time, eating soft foods, salt water rinses, and icing my face. I ordered Domino's for the kids for dinner while I had tomato soup. Actually brushed my teeth (carefully) before bed and my medicated rinse. Slept again in my recliner. I figured I'd keep sleeping there until the swelling went down since I can't sleep propped up on pillows in my bed. The recliner is just easier.
Monday ~ Up about 4 times to walk all the way back to my bathroom to pee. Stupid water consumption. Anyway, finally got up around 7:30. While doing my morning bathroom stuff (washing face, cream, rinsing my mouth, etc) I noticed a really nifty bruise starting to show up on my jaw and neck. Wow. Did the morning things and walked the dogs. Trying to sprinkle out but mostly held off until I was back in the house. Cleared out old food from the fridge, emptied the trash cans, and did the rounds of meds, icing face, rinses (salt and medicated), and eating soft foods. Took a shower then worked on the computer for a bit. Anna forgot her badge and wallet and asked if I could meet her at her dermatologist app't at 11:15 to give them to her before she headed back to work. When I got back home I woke Trip and made us some scrambled eggs before working some more on my blog. Made Sortof Mystery Tea. Then we fed the critters and I cleaned and refilled bird baths and watered my mums and the tomato plants which are still producing. Trip emptied the dishwasher so I filled it with what could go in from the sink then washed the rest. Rinsed my tea pot, and since Anna wanted to wash clothes I got the towels out of the dryer, folded, and put them away. Well, my stuff. I don't put away the towels for their bathroom. Leftovers for dinner. Read a book.
Tuesday ~ Election Day! 🤞🤞Still sleeping in recliner. Only up twice in the night to pee. Way too much water consumption. lol Did the morning furry routine then had Trip walk the dogs so I could do my post-oral surgery routine. One more day of prednisone. Thank goodness. That shit tastes terrible and gives me heartburn. Plus, I think its aggravating my rosacea. Once done we headed out to get groceries. My mouth rinse is finally in at CVS. The drive thru was closed though, so we decided to wait until we finished the shopping. Hit the pet store then Walmart for a few things I can't get elsewhere before heading over to BJ's. After that we hit up Food Lion and finally CVS. Trip's Olanzapine still wasn't ready, but he still had some, so I just got my rinse, some Halloween Reese's snack-sized noms, and a few odds-n-ends. Right as we got home the text came that his Rx was ready. lmao. Carried everything into the house and started putting stuff away. The pantry is fairly well stocked and the freezer is jampacked full. I earned a free turkey at BJ's, but can't collect until the 14th. I have the roasting pan, the pies, whipped cream, and green beans. Just need the turkey, rolls, stuffing, and potatoes and we'll be set for Thanksgiving. After Trip walked the dogs and emptied the dishwasher I decided to run back to Food Lion to pick up broth and the Chips Ahoy cookies that were still on sale and I forgot to get. I also picked up his Olanzapine. Made Sortof Mystery Tea and some scrambled eggs for a late lunch for us then got the Mississippi Pot Roast going in the Instant Pot. Kyle saw the bat-shaped Reese's and said he wasn't sure he wanted to eat a bat. The last time that happened we got Covid. lmao Trip brought the empty Halloween tubs to the back deck. Chris spent the night. Everyone had Mississippi pot roast with rice. I had mashed potatoes and broth from the roast. Omg. So delicious!
Wednesday ~ Holy shit. A massive Blue Wave happened on Election Night. Thank the Book Gods. The amount of blue across the nation is just stunning. And quite a relief, let me tell you. 🎉🥳🎆 After doing the morning routine and working on the computer for a while, I made Trip and I omelets for lunch then I switched out the Halloween decorations to Thanksgiving. Trip helped take Halloween stuff down and I packed it away. Finished my run of prednisone. Yay! Made a large pot of mashed potatoes. I've tried a couple brands of mashed potatoes from the grocery store. Mine are absolutely, hands down, the best. I think it's because I add ranch dressing. Leftovers for dinner. Back to sleeping in my bed.
Thursday ~ Anna went in early in Kyle's car, so I got up at 5:30 to take Kyle to work. After doing the morning stuff Trip and I took Anna's car to get an oil change, replace a running light, and check why the low tire light is on. She had a nail in a rear tire, so they patched it. We had breakfast at Pano's then waited forever for them to finish her car. Finally out of there about 2 hrs after we got there. Yeesh. We made a quick stop at Big Lots because I needed a basket for odds-n-ends to put under the side table next to my recliner in the living room. We filled Anna's car up at BJ's then got haircuts at Great Clips. The lady who trimmed my hair saw my neck and asked, "Did you have dental surgery?" which surprised me. I said, yeah and said I got a nice souvenir, pointing at the big bruise. She said the same thing happened to her when she needed work done on a cap that had issues. So that explains how she knew. Trip let her trim his beard. Ho-ly fucking shit. I've been trying to get him to trim that messy birds nest forever. He reluctantly lets me trim it a little from time to time, but she gave it a good trim. It looks really nice now (he says it's too short) and I bet it will grow better with the damaged ends finally off. Finally got home. Trip ate the leftover parmesan bites from Domino's and I had mashed potatoes for a late lunch. I made Pulmuone Stir-Fry noodles with Mongolian Beef for dinner. I can't have any because of the small pieces, so I had tomato soup with parmesan cheese and mashed potatoes. Ice cream for dessert. Watched Iron Man.
Friday ~ Did the morning stuff. 1 week since oral surgery. Last of the antibiotics today. Did the dishes, tidied kitchen, tidied inside kitchen bench, cleaned my bathroom, washed towels, made a big pot of chili (that I can't eat, dammit), and made omelets for lunch for Trip and me. Leftovers for dinner. More ice cream for dessert. Watched Iron Man 2 and played Pokémon Go.
Saturday ~ Did the morning stuff then went to CVS to get Anna's Rx and a birthday card for Ellie, stopped at Food Lion because Kyle said he'd like some of those NY Strips that are on sale (which I can't eat yet 😭), then I picked up the boys some Biscuitville since they moved the Halloween tubs from the deck to under the new addition. We used to keep them in the Exterior Library, but I figured under the house should be fine. Apparently that was 2nd breakfast for them because Anna said she and Chris went out earlier and brought home Chick-fil-A. Wtf. Put the steaks in marinade then cleaned the laundry room which included the water fountain and changed the furnace filters, Trip did the litterboxes, washed pet stuff, 2 loads of towels and my clothes, scrubbed the kitchen sink, made Halloween cookies that I got at BJ's (better late than never), did up dishes, vacuumed, and worked on this post. Jess came over to get chili, some Arizona Tea that I didn't want, and some pee pads for Pirate-Dog Oscar. Kyle grilled steaks. I made baked potatoes. Turns out, I can eat steak if I cut it tiny enough. So. Delicious! Watched some Criminal Minds and fell asleep in my recliner for a bit.
Today I plan on making French Toast Bake and probably Cinnamon Rolls and Apples for breakfast. I may mop the kitchen and main areas. Or I may putter around then read.
Mystery Tea
Monday ~ Deep Dark Night Green ~ Green tea, black tea, butterfly pea flower, apple pieces, ginger pieces, acai, beetroot, blackberry leaves, mallow flower, blueberries, blue cornflower, blueberry essence ~ no best by date - Halloween sampler
This smells and tastes delicious! I do love fruity teas. They're my favorite. Trip also likes. And it's a pretty blue/green!
Tuesday ~ Forbidden Peach Oolong ~ Oolong tea, black pepper, peach pieces, apple pieces, calendula, peach essence ~ no best by date ~ Halloween sampler
Delicious! I'm not a huge fan of peach, but this is tasty.
Wednesday ~ Hot Honey Herbal ~ Honeybush tea, apple pieces, rose hip, almond, anise, orange slices, cardamom, red pepper flakes, beetroot, vanilla/honey essences ~ no best by date - Halloween sampler
Woo! Trip and I agree this is a bit spicy. Whose idea was it to put red pepper flakes in tea?! 🔥
Thursday ~ Nope
Friday ~ It's Not Hot Chocolate Black ~ Black tea, marshmallow root, cacao nib, chocolate/vanilla essences ~ no best by date ~ Halloween sampler
Definitely smells like chocolate. Trip said 'Meh', but I really like it.
