A chilling YA thriller told in verse about online romance, obsession and the dangers hiding behind a screen.
He made her feel seen. Then she vanished without a trace.
Daisy has always been quiet – the kind of girl who fades into the background. So when she meets a boy online who really sees her, she falls fast. He listens. He understands. He makes her feel special in a way no one at school ever has. Soon, Daisy’s world shrinks to a glowing screen. Her mum worries. Her best friend Erin is pushed aside. But Daisy doesn’t notice – she’s in love.
Then Daisy goes to meet him in real life. And she never comes back.
Left behind with guilt and unanswered questions, Erin is forced to confront the truth Daisy never saw. In a world where screens can lie and love can be faked, how can anyone know who to trust?
This book will fill you with dread. The more you read, the more tense you’ll get. You’ll wish you could grab Daisy by the shoulders and make her listen to you. But she’s 15. Teenagers of all generations think they know more than their parents. That their parents are too old to understand. It can turn out so tragic when it doesn’t need to be. Not just for the victim, but for those they leave behind.
Told in verse, this is a fast read. I was actually surprised how fast I got through it. Probably because part of it is the writing, but it’s also so compelling. The pages fairly fly under fingertips. However, just because it’s fast does not mean it doesn’t linger. Holy shit, does it linger. It will break your heart. Here. Read it! Read it right now!
