Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front:
  • Sunday - Happy New Year! Stepson and his family came to visit and get their presents since they were sick over Christmas. Took the ornaments off the tree.
  • Monday - Put away all the interior Christmas decorations except for the lights in the hallway. Took the tree down and out for a future sacrifice to the S'mores Gods. Outside lights are still up, but Trip put away all the other decorations.
  • Tuesday - Grocery pick up. Did some blog work and some spreadsheet stuff.
  • Wednesday -  Did some tidying and organizing. Thunderstorms with heavy rain at times. Met with Trip's mental health Medicaid case worker. I guess this is something new.
  • Thursday - I did not have to report to jury duty. Yay! Normally I don't mind but this time the location was High Point instead of Greensboro and I have never been to HP court house. So the thought of it was stressing me out. Whew. Did some more organizing and tidying. Hubby and Kyle had eye doctor appts. Put new suspension springs in washer. Doesn't completely fix the unbalanced loads, but it is better. I guess hubby and I will need to replace the suspension rods after all, but we already have them so it's just a matter of doing.
  • Friday - Started the 1st weekend of the month extra cleaning on top of the regular cleaning. Got Chinese food for dinner. That should last most of the weekend.
  • Saturday - Hubby had to go into work 5-11. I finished up the weekend cleaning and then we took Trip, Anna, and DJ out to lunch at Red Lobster. Kyle has a cold so decided to stay home. We brought him a meal, so don't worry. lol It's been a busy week. My Fitbit probably wonders what's going on.
  • Today - DJ heads home to Arizona today. Maybe we'll do the suspension rods on the washer. Maybe fix the broken soffit on the shed. Or maybe say fuck it and just relax. I'm voting for relax and read.
Mom's week: She's still doing fine. Diligently masking and exercising. She had an appt with the cardiologist on Friday and they're lowering her blood thinner meds because of her age and the weight she has lost. We weren't sure if that's what's making her bruise so much and the cardiologist doesn't believe so. Thought it might be related to hemoglobin and platelets so running some tests. Otherwise her week was uneventful except for a trip to the drug store for some groceries and other odds and ends.

Touching Nature: Started out a tad warmer than this time of year typically is, but then it dropped to more normal temps. Got a thunderstorm on Wednesday and now people are predicting snow in 10 days or whatever bizarre old wives' tale they believe in. 😑

Book News: I have nothing to report here. When I have time I'm beta reading a story by an author friend. I want to get shit done today so I can sit, relax, and get back to it.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Still watching Bones, season 9. I'm so happy that stupid dumbass Pelant story arc is over.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Zen Match, jigsaw puzzles

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom:  I may have shared this before, but always leave your washer lid open after doing laundry so it can air out. If you close it you'll get mold and mildew and no one wants that.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Busy week indeed! Yay on Jury Duty - I always find it so stressful and I'm really uncomfortable with the idea of deciding a case. I've read too many books and been tricked when the truth was staring me in the face to believe I can't be mislead and choose wrong. And this is real life with real people!

Ok so now I'm wondering what would Steve Irwin say about me? hmmm

We have such a hard time with the washer thing. We have a front loader, in the kitchen by the fridge. So it's in the way when the door is open AND Dante loves to close the door.

Hope you have a good (and maybe less busy) week ahead!

  2. You did have a busy week. I haven't ever had to report for jury duty and I think it would be stressful. I'm so glad to hear your mom is still doing fine.
