Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front:
- Sunday - Merry Christmas!! Everyone had a great day. I got stuff from my wishlist and some of them were even books. Woot! lol I spent most of the day tidying up the mess and then vacuuming. I just can't relax until it's done. But I did finally relax with some pie and tea.
- Monday - Kyle and hubby have the day off. Hubby and I built the shelf to go above my new mini fridge that Kyle bought me for Christmas. I wanted to free up space in my fridge so now hubby and Kyle have their drinks they take to work stocked in it as well as their water bottles. It even holds 2 liter bottles. The shelf we built above it holds all of our booze. It's currently full. lol Then we finally installed the pipe fitting rods in Anna's closet.
- Tuesday - Took Kyle to work. Anna's online boyfriend flew in from Arizona. His flight was supposed to come in yesterday but it was cancelled. He is very tall. lol
- Wednesday - Took Kyle to work. Grocery day. Made Mississippi pot roast in the Instant Pot. I don't know why I always forget to make this. It's so delicious! And easy to make.
- Thursday - Took Kyle to work. Cleaned out and tidied the pantry. Then cleaned off the kitchen table which was a mess becasue of being the catchall for shit. It's not completely done. There are a few items I'm still deciding what to do with them. But it's so much better.
- Friday - Took Kyle to work. Trip and I had eye doctor appts. We still each have two and they work pretty good. The dilation though is shit. I should have just came home and napped until it was gone, but I didn't. Made strombolis for dinner. Another thing I keep forgetting to make.
- Saturday - Did some food prep, made 7 layer cookies, and attempted these s'mores crescent roll thingies. They didn't turn out anything like I saw on the internet. lol Tasty though. I may make them again but a bit different. Then I put a pork roast in the Instant Pot and the boys and I did some rearranging of their computer area. I told them it would take a couple of hours and it did. lol I'm really getting a jump start on my organizing of the house for 2023. Still so SO much to do though. *dies* I'm drafting this post at 9pm and I hope to stay awake until midnight since we have champagne. We have cheese, crackers, fruit, and meat, but I'm not even hungry after the big meal of pork roast, mashed taters, corn, stuffing, and rolls. I also have buffalo chicken dip in the fridge and some frozen shrimp. Food for tomorrow I think. Too much food!
- Today - Happy New Year! I have plans to do absolutely nothing. Nada. Zip. Well, I'm going to read, but nothing else. There's plenty of food in this house for everyone to forage on their own. My stepson and his family are supposed to be coming over after church to get their presents since they were sick over Christmas. Then I would like to at least take down the tree. So, I guess I will be doing something after all. lol
Mom's week: She had a great week. Getting stronger and so far avoiding any more nasty junk even though more and more people at the Inn are sick.
Touching Nature: Cold cold cold at night, but as the week went on it gradually warmed up until we hit the 60s. Go figure. Rained most of the day yesterday and was a tad chillier though.
Book News: Nothing to report here. I have 1 review to write and I plan to finish a tour book today. Then I have a beta read for a friend I need to jump into.
Don't Touch That Dial!: Still watching Bones, season 8.
At the Flicks: Nope
Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Zen Match, jigsaw puzzles
Randomness:
Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: When flying, don't ever ever EVER pack your absolutely essential items (medicine, medical items, electronics & chargers) in your checked bags. Put them in your carry on. Plus, one change of clothes, at the very least. We all heard what happened over Christmas with Southwest, right? Although I've said this for years - Carry that shit on the plane with you.
That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

So busy....lol My grandchildren asked me to keep the tree up until after winter recess. They go back to school on Thursday. Their Dad doesn't have a tree, their momma has a small tree and their Nana whips one up on Christmas Eve and has it down the day after Christmas....so how could I say no. LOL Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteOn Christmas Eve?!?! How can people do that?! lol You totally rock the Christmas tree until after Winter break then! I just...*baffled look*
DeleteI love the organizing you do. I try to put a few things away every day but still have piles in some places. We only got our tree decorated on Christmas Eve so it will be up awhile yet. That plan of doing nothing sounds great! Happy New Year and happy reading, Carol!
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Thank you!
DeleteI'm trying to keep the momentum going. We have a little bit of hoarder syndrome. Not enough to get us on a reality show, but bad enough. I'm trying to tidy this place up. I can take the "mess" only so long and then it's full speed ahead. lol
I did some organizing too - mainly Dante's toys (which I sorted into rotations, plus some are in my trunk to donate and some are trash). I have so much more that I need to do but it didn't happen with toddler underfoot. I feel like my place is a mess no matter what I do, but I'm telling myself to treasure the mess because it means I have a toddler and he's going to grow up one day.
ReplyDeleteI'm very curious about these crescent roll s'mores -- s'mores are like my favorite sweet treat. Share please :)
Have a great week!
I have stuff just stacked in corners and for awhile it doesn't bother me. But now I'm on a tear. lol At least it's looking more open around here.
DeleteOk, so you get a tube of crescent rolls and open them up. I made the mistake of rolling them from the pointy end instead of the wide end (which I'm going to try today) but I put a square of chocolate and a large marshmallow on it then roll it up. Put on a cookie sheet (I used parchment paper on mine because some of them pooped marshmallow LOL) and bake according to crescent roll directions. Good luck!
Oh! You can also put a bit of graham cracker crumbs on them before rolling if you want. I skipped that part.
DeleteThe Dragon Field Guide sound cool and I like that homesteading.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! May 2023 be a good year of reading.
I flipped through it and it looks cool! Plus the homesteading one. Especially now with the price of eggs lol
DeleteThank you! Same to you!
