Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front:
  • Sunday I spent all day vacuuming and washing 3 vehicles. Kyle helped with his, but hubby was working on a transcription, so I did his. Then I did mine, which is a Pilot, so it required a ladder. lol After I was all done with that I broke out the backpack blower and went around the yard blowing all these little fucking annoying twigs into a pile then when hubby came out to dig a stump with the tractor I had him scoop up the debris in the bucket and put it on the burning pile. Then I called to check on my mom who was still in the hospital (I am in a group text with my brothers, sis-in-law, and others so I was up-to-date) before hitting the shower. Kyle grilled brats and I threw some baked beans in the microwave before collapsing and putting my feet up.
  • Monday Mom's morning endoscopy revealed a 2" tumor and a smaller one in her stomach near her esophagus opening. They did a biopsy. She was not allowed to go home because her iron levels were not up to par yet despite 2 vampire bags of blood (her words) and an iron infusion.
  • Tuesday mom had another iron infusion because her iron numbers were still not the greatest. They also started her back on her blood pressure meds and that stabilized her some more. She met the oncologist and labwork came back positive for stomach cancer. Oncologist believes it started in her stomach (not elsewhere) and he believes they caught it early. She'll need a PET scan and more tests before they determine a treatment plan. He is impressed with her activity level (she's not all that sedentary despite arthritis) and he says that works in her favor. He wants her to stop taking calcium pills and up her intake of iron rich foods. She has a hard time eating because of the location of the tumors. She has to eat tiny bites and slowly or she said it feels like it gets stuck. She feels full much too soon, too. Hopefully surgery will take care of that, but first steps first. In the meantime Anna plans to make her smoothies with spinach added and bro picked up some smaller cast iron skillets (she has one large one).
  • Wednesday mom finally busted out of the hospital near 5pm.
  • Thursday, Anna texted that mom was feeling overwhelmed and started crying and saying she wished I was there. So I rushed around getting groceries and doing my weekend cleaning early so I could leave Friday. The homestead is being manned by the menfolk.
  • Friday I traveled to Ohio. My ass hurt when I got there. It's about 9 hrs with some stops. At least I finished an audio and got very far into another. Mom was happy to see me. Anna, too lol My stepson and his wife had their baby at 6:42pm, Lora Kay. That's grandbaby #4.
  • Saturday Anna and I did the grocery shopping (on a Saturday AND a holiday weekend to boot--oh, yay lol) then lounged around. I did feed mom's birds and Anna watered her plants.
  • Sunday - today we're going next door to my brother and sis-in-law's for a cook out. I'm planning on taking mom's "new" (1998) golf cart out for a spin. I might do donuts when she's not looking. LOL My eldest spawn will be there and my nephew (but not his fiancée) and niece. I'll be heading home Tuesday where hubby and Kyle have taken the week off and we have projects to do.
Touching Nature: Other than feeding my critters and watering my plants, I have nothing to report here. Well, except it was hot as fuck in Ohio when I got here, but it rained Friday evening and Saturday was delightful.

Book News: I finished a book at mom's and an audio I started in 2019. Then started and nearly finished another audio I've had for awhile. Long trips alone are good for something. lol I'm hoping to finish that audio and get a good chunk (or more) of another done on Tuesday, on my way home. I really need to figure out how to work more audios into my day. I just don't see how.

  1. I'm so glad you were able to take the time and go to see your Mom (and other family). I'm hoping for some rain followed by delightful! It is supposed to be more scattered rain this week at least. But that might just make it more humid. We need the rain though. I hope you have a great project week!
