Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: It's actually Sunday since I didn't have time yesterday to draft this up. I've been doing a lot of work for The Write Reads this week. I've also been reading excerpts for Round 1 of  BBNYA 2021. I read 21 2K excerpts. Some really great books in there! Round 2 was announced and I have my 10K excerpts to read. I've already done 5 of 9, so for once I'm not behind the 8-ball. lol

My uterus has been misbehaving so I went in Tuesday (of course it poured down rain) to get it disciplined. Doc wants to do an ultrasound so that's scheduled for August. Our preliminary guess is fibroids. I've been going through menopause so it's also possible the uterus/ovary matrix is glitching. I'll let you know what we find out.

I bought some really nifty pet food storage containers. I don't know why I didn't think of these things sooner. The dog food ones are supposed to be stackable, but that function is shit. In any case, they sit a little too low for me, so I need to do some rearranging in the kitchen to get them where I want them. Haven't had time yet, so hopefully this week.

I forgot to mention last week that Trip bought four guppies last Friday (18th) and they were all dead by Sunday morning. His four tetras have been doing well, so he bought four more this past Friday. Two were dead within an hour but the other two are fine. So far. We have no idea wtf is going on. All chemical levels are fine, so wtf. All in all, since he set up his tank over a month ago, he's lost two otos, four guppies, and two tetras. Don't let anyone tell you that having an aquarium is easy. It's a pain in the ass.

Touching Nature: We've actually had a fairly decent week. Nice cool mornings and lower humidity, for the most part. It poured on Tuesday. While we needed the rain, it would have been better to come down gently to soak into the very dry ground instead of a deluge that mostly ran off. I finally went out yesterday and leveled the block for the new garden shed. I was dreading it and kept putting it off. For good reason. What a royal pain in my ass. But it's done. We can now start assembling the shed. Well, after the boys put gravel down. That's going to be done today. Here's a before and after. I sprayed weed killer but a few hours later it rained even though it wasn't supposed to. So that was probably a waste. We'll see.

Book News: I have 3 reviews to get written and then I'll be caught up. Yay!

Don't Touch That Dial!: Still watching the A-Team. We're in season 4 now. Some of these episodes I don't even remember. lol Once we're done we can head back to Star Wars: The Clone Wars and get back on track.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Nope

Randomness: Take water and your cell phone fully charged. You may be an adult but that doesn't mean being stupid.

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Never get an aquarium as your first pet. Start off with something easy, like a pet rock. And some additional wisdom, chinchillas are also not a great first pet even though they are cute as fuck. They get stressed easy and then croak. Also, they piss all over. We had to put plexiglass on the wall to protect it.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. I love the heading image you use for this! So neat! About 10 years ago I had fibroids, apparently one was the size of an orange, the other a little smaller. I ended up getting a hysterectomy. It made me kind of sad because I never got the chance to have kids, not that I seemed to have any chance of it anyway being still single at the age of 40 at the time. But I've enjoyed all the things I don't have to deal with monthly anymore for sure! Unfortunately I can't seem to lose weight easily anymore either, but have gained a ton. :-( Here's hoping you get your problems taken care of soon so you don't have to worry. Have a good week!

  2. I hope everything goes well in August. It was a great week for yard work with lower temps and humidity. We laid sod! So we have real grass in part of the yard. Until it dies off from the heat the next two months. (I hope not.) I'm about ready to finish up any outdoor stuff and focus on indoor stuff in July and August heat.

We got a rescue dog who is small and almost never barks and was house-trained when we got her. Lulu is perfect. Thank goodness. She's also very smart but luckily wants to please us so she isn't any trouble with it.

  3. You've been busy! I love DothTheDoth. I can so relate to his pearls of wisdom. I'm still looking for my abandoned castle with a disturbing backstory. :-) Enjoy your week!

  4. Good luck with the Dr in August - that feels like a long time to wait. Lol about first pets... Honestly aquarium pets are just hard. We had a turtle for a little while and that didn't end well.

    Have a great week
