--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: Well, I was both busy and not busy. Got things done and managed to watch tv for a goodly amount of time. It was mostly a mundane week.

Touching Nature: Hurricane Isaias left us here in central NC with 1 ¾" of rain and that's it. It brought cooler temps, at least for a few days. I mowed on Tuesday and was surprised I didn't keel over. Ugh. We've had rain off and on all week and it got hotter and more humid. Gross.

Book News: I had 17 reviews to write and I wrote 3. Then I DNF'd a book, so now I'm back up to 15. I'll get them done eventually. lol

Don't Touch That Dial!: Watched the Hurricanes sweep the Rangers. Bwahahaha! I mean, *cough*, yay! Watched some Buffy (season 4) and Angel (season 1)and Perry Mason on DVD. Also watched some Cleveland Indians and a bit of the Penguins game since hubby is a fan. Wow, I watched more tv this past week than I realized.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Nope

Randomness:
Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Because of all the bullshit going on be sure to check your state's early voting requirements. Also make sure you haven't been purged from the voter rolls.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Great nugget - it's crazy the way people are getting purged. I just voted last month in our primary runoff, but I still should check. I'm so frustrated that we don't get to mail in vote 🤬🤬

Yay for Buffy and Angel - that's a good season (ha! I love them all as you know) but I like when she starts college (some great episodes, like Beer Bad and Hush) and meets Riley, though that season has nothing on season 3.

Stay cool and dry! Humid heat is the worst 🙄. Have a great week and stay safe!

  2. I’m completely baffled by your voting system - purging, lack of facilities, being turned away, or intimidated at the booths...what is democratic about all of that?? Voting is compulsory here, you must enrol at 18 and a failure to at least turn up to vote and have your name marked off the electoral roll results in a fine.
    Good luck with those reviews.

Wishing you a great reading week, and cooler weather

  3. My husband and I were thinking of re-watching Buffy and Angel at some point. I love both those shows. Hush that Berls mentions is one of my favorite episodes.

I am sorry you having to endure to humidity and heat. I hope with the coming fall the weather will improve for you.

I hope you have a great week. Take care!

  4. That humidity must be awful, it’s something we don’t really get here in Scotland though we are about to get three days of thunderstorms but they are pathetic compared to the ones I’ve been in when I’ve visited Florida.

    Have a lovely week.

  5. Glad you were unscathed. Some peeps on the East coast lost power for five to seven days. I cannot imagine. Be safe, stay cool and let's hope there isn't another quake. LOL

  6. I checked our voter registration this past week. We also filled out absentee ballots but I am thinking I will drop them at the county election office rather than trying to mail them and do it as early as we can. Did you feel the earthquake? We were asleep and missed it. I skipped mowing this week and it's just hot.

  7. Ugh, humidity is really the worst! I had some cooler weather last week which was nice, but it seems summer is back with a vengeance this week.
