--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: Ok, so here's the thing...our internet went out around 10:00am Friday May 3rd and didn't come back until yesterday at 10:24am. 8 days or 192 hours without the internet at home. We had our phones and some mobile data, but I loathe using my phone for the internet. We rationed the data to use hotspots for the important shit like the Hurricanes playoffs and Game of Thrones. And hubby used it for his fantasy baseball picks on his days off. He hopped on the internet at work when he was there. Bastard. lol I didn't realize until Fri that I could hook a USB cable up to my semi-ancient desktop and use my phone as a mobile hotspot to work on my blog. However, we don't have unlimited mobile data so I probably wouldn't have used it anyway. Probably. Maybe. Ok, I might have at least done the Sunday Post. lol

I was on the phone A LOT with AT&T. There may have been an excessive use of expletives on my end. They are the worst internet provider EVER. They seriously have no fucking clue how to run customer service and they don't give a shit about it either. Customer service gets a negative 1 million from me. But I must mention that our internet wouldn't have been out at all if the sweaty fetid ball sack from the NCDOT who mowed our roadside hadn't destroyed the box at the corner of our road. Destroyed.It. So, I've been fuming for 8 days while AT&T dicked around for 5 of those days before getting a guy out to rewire and run new cable for the box serving around 300 people, us included. It has not been fun at the Voracious Homestead. I spent all of yesterday getting caught up on all things internet including my blog. So, the posts that I hadn't had a chance to slip the reviews into did not go up last week and I've moved everything around on my calendar.

Touching Nature: Been dry and not too bad out. Pollen has been tough for my youngest spawn, but other than that we could use some rain. I can't believe I have to say that after all the rain we got in the first four months of 2019. We did outside work last weekend and then our friend came on Monday and sprayed the yard for bugs. The ticks have been horrible this year. I also revamped an old decrepit swing of ours that's been hanging out by the firepit for years. It looks pretty good now. Our only purchase was spray paint. I scavenged the composite decking boards (take that, you fucking carpenter bees!) and the cushions from family. :D

Book News: I wrote 5 out of 6 reviews then finished 3 more books. I have a couple of more going, but I'm not done with them yet. Still only 4 behind on my Goodreads challenge.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Not much since we didn't have internet. We used a good chunk of data and a phone as a mobile hotspot to watch the Hurricanes in the playoffs and the boys watched Game of Thrones

At the Flicks: We saw Avengers: Endgame on May 1st. Holy shit. Still processing it. Next up is Pokémon Detective Pikachu and at the end of the month is Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Cyberspace Playground: Hard to do when you don't have internet.

Randomness: She can't even.

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: I had a really great nugget and forgot to write it down on a Post-It to add to my post when my internet came back. So, here's an alternate that I think I've shared before: WRITE THAT SHIT DOWN! Carry on.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  2. It’s incredible how dependent we’ve all become on internet services for practically everything. I know I’d be climbing the walls without service for that long, though I might see my children more lol

Have a great reading, and online, week

    1. I'm constantly on the internet. For my blog, the weather, to Google shit, to promote books/authors/etc, to pay bills, to stream, etc, etc. Not having it for 8 days because AT&T's right hand doesn't know what it's left hand is doing is bullshit of the highest order.

  3. I thought I was the only one who forgot ideas if I didn't immediately write them down. I'd go crazy without internet, sounds like a very frustrating time.

  4. I am sorry you had to go so long without internet. I have done it myself through storms that have knocked out our power for days on end. It is crazy. I hope you have a better week and that your Mother's Day was good.
