--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: I just can't seem to get my shit together. Of course, it doesn't help to have something unexpected happen to derail your day. Like, say, a huge ass tree falling across your drive and blocking you in. Can you believe this shit? Kyle and I had just gotten home and we were getting ready to go back out with Anna and Trip to get their Pokéstops when WHOOMP. So glad no one got squished going up or down the drive. Whew!
Luckily hubby had not yet gone to work (he works 2nd shift), so he took the day off and revved up the Husqvarna. It took awhile since the tree was 22" in diameter and hubby's chainsaw only has a 16" bar, but we got most of it cut up and carted off to our wood stockpile area. It was so hot and humid and it rained (wtf is this, the rain forest?!) for a little bit while we were cutting. By the end of the day we were covered from head to toe in sweat, dirt, and sawdust. So gross. A shower never felt so good.

Touching Nature: It's been hot, rainy, partially sunny, a little cooler, rainy, partially sunny, hot, rainy...it has just been too weird. Monday we had to cut up a tree that fell across our driveway (see above) and I mowed. Then on Friday we transplanted two of the four azaleas from out front. At the end of June I cut them waaaaaay back because they were dying and I hoped it would give them new life (it seems to be working), but I've been wanting to move them for awhile now. We need to do the other two, probably tomorrow. I'm not doing shit today since this afternoon we're going Pokémoning.

Book News: I chipped away at those 14 reviews and got down to 11. Then I read another so it was back up to 12. But one rainy afternoon I bent my back to them and made it all the way to 4. However, the call of Awaken the Darkness by Dianne Duvall just got too loud for me to ignore any longer and I had to read it. So...back up to 5. Right now I have several books going and I'm cycling through them so I don't finish any more and have to add to my review list. I'm so bad. lolol

Don't Touch That Dial!: A few more CSI and we purchased a subscription to the MLB channel on the Roku so now we can watch the Cleveland Indians. I'm not sure why we didn't look into this before! *kicks own ass*

At the Flicks: Nothing until October, I think.

Cyberspace Playground: Pokémon and Wordscapes. I'm running out of levels fast on Wordscapes. They better update soon or I'll need to find another word game to play.

Randomness: Me.

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Think outside the box. You'd be surprised at what you can come up with when you stop trying to think like everyone else.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. We are going hunting today also. Yesterday didn't work so well so I am hoping to at least get some Eevee's today and someone needs a Shiny Jolteon.

That tree is crazy and I am glad it feel when someone was around it. So cool that you leave around trees. I wish we had something around us, just a bunch of nosy people. :)

I hope you have a great week, Carol! Happy Reading! ox

  2. I can't believe that big ass tree fell across your driveway and am glad none of you got hurt. And that is great work with your review list.

  4. I’m glad nobody was hurt by the tree. That’s annoying, though. I hope you enjoy your new books and good luck with the Pokemon hunting!

  5. Crazy! That is very fortunate no one was hurt! My uncle had a tree collapse on him while he was driving home one night through a hollow with a creek below. He had to climb out of the sunroof. Have fun Pokemoning!

  6. At least it didn't hurt anyone/damage anything when it came down... And lucky you had a chainsaw on hand to reduce it to pieces! :)
I'm liking the look of your books this week. Will see if the vampire one is still free...
