--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: Busy week here at the homestead. Boys had exams all week. School is now officially out for the summer for Kyle and he'll be a Senior next year. Trip graduates tomorrow. Anna started her college summer session on Monday. I do not have to deal with the car rider line until August 28th. Woot! Did you know I've been driving kids to school since fall 1998? I bet I've been doing it longer than most bus drivers out there. That's what happens when you have a 12-yr gap between kids. George rode the bus when we lived in Ohio, but when we moved to NC I drove him to school. When he got his license, Anna started Kindergarten, so I got no break. In fact, the year Anna started Kindergarten, I started college. So I was also driving myself to school! *thud* Tangent alert: I cannot believe that my oldest (George) will be 32 next month. *flails* There must be some mistake. I demand a recount!

In other news, I mentioned Trip graduates Monday. His birthday is Thurs and he'll be 18. He does not have his license, but I'm hoping he'll at least go get his permit along with Kyle (who is 16). If Kyle can get his permit this summer and get enough hours under his belt he may be able to drive himself to school at some point. I will do the happiest of dances if we can make that happen.

Touching Nature: Omg, it was soooooo nice this week! No rain and cool, in the 70s. I had the windows open for most of the week. It dropped down to 55º on Thurs night. Now that's good sleepin' weather! But...the temps started climbing and yesterday we were mid-80s. Back to the A/C we went. Supposed to be nearly 90 today and 90s for the foreseeable future. Fuck this shit. But I did get outside Friday and Saturday. Worked my tush off in the firepit area. It's shaping up pretty nicely, if I do say so myself. And I will.

Book News: I still have several reviews to write. 4 for InD'tale and one for my blog. I'm hoping to work on them today and tomorrow. Other than that, I have nothing to report.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Trip and I managed a couple Star Wars: Clone Wars in our rewatch, but that's it.

At the Flicks: Going to see Wonder Woman today!

Cyberspace Playground: No time to play this week.

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: I'm too tired for nuggets this week. Maybe next week.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. It would be awesome if everyone could drive themselves! Except, then they would all want their own cars.... ABORT! ABORT!

    1. Oh shit! Red Alert! Danger, Will Robinson, Danger! lol

  2. Your nugget could have been "Sometimes you are too tired to write nuggets and it's ok" :)

You are a busy lady, and a great bus driver. :) I thankfully just have to walk Julia. We have a bus company get Ryan because his school is about 25 minutes from our house. When my daughter goes to the middle school, she will have to be bussed unless I take her because that still freaks me out. She wants to walk home by herself next year , she is only a block away from the house, like I can see the school from our window but the thought freaks me out. I could still go and stalk her all the way home. That's an idea :)

Have a great week, Carol! Happy Reading! ox

    1. That would have been a great nugget. lol

Michelle? Are you going to be a creeper? lololol Ok, not a creeper. We'll call you Ninja Mom. :D

      Thanks! I'm trying.

  3. I completely know what you mean with a giant age gap. I turned 13 three months after my youngest brother was born. I am 27, with a toddler, in college, work full time. He's 14 and just going into high school at the start of next school year. Sometimes it's hard having a brother so much younger, but now that he's starting to get older, it's a little easier.

    Have a great week!

    1. You're just like my son and my stepson and stepdaughter. They're almost 32, almost 28 and 26. My oldest went into the Marine Corps. They were 6, 4 and 3 when he graduated Marines Corps boot camp. He spent some time in Cali, 2 years in Okinawa and the rest at Camp Lejeune which was at least in our home state. After he was medically discharged he moved back to Ohio (where we're from originally), so he missed all of their growing up years. Now that they're teens he can at least keep up with them on Facebook and we visit Ohio every summer. :)

  4. I cried when my oldest turned 26. Wow you have quite the gap between kiddos. I had mine 2 years apart and 16 months apart. It was crazy but easier in the long run. Of course my nest was empty, but now is full of Royals and their toys. Glad your weather was lovely. Enjoy the festivities and beginning of summer slow down!

    1. That's how I had Anna, Trip and Kyle. 21 months between Anna and Trip and 16 between Trip and Kyle. lol Then we have the 3 older kids: George (mine) and Ralph's kids, Timothy (nearly 28) and April (26). My nest is not empty yet and we even have the grandkiddos (and their mom and dad) living here now. But we know it's temporary, so we'll enjoy it while it lasts. :)

I hope it does slow down. It should. *fingers crossed*

  5. Congrats on your kids graduating! I hope you have a great summer!

    Here’s my Sunday Post!

Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!

    1. Thank you! I hope so too. I need a good summer. lol

  6. Wow, that is a some kind of gap in between I am glad your life in the car school lane is about to come to an end, that is a lot of time spent

I am so behind on reviews with being on vaca as I have read a lot of books but the wifi doesn't work well enough for me to write many of them. So I took short notes to try and remember what they are

    Have a great week!

    1. I'll be ecstatic when it ends. LOL

Notes help. Skimming also helps. I've done that many times. lol

      Safe travels out there!
