AVR News Update
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: School starts tomorrow! Eep! Did school shopping on Thursday, so we're ready. Well, as ready as we'll be. No more sleeping in though. Boo! Our water pump is still working but still bringing up silt and shit. It doesn't appear to be as bad and at least we have water. So much win.

Touching Nature: Not exactly touching Nature, but hubby & I built a little shelf for the kids bathroom and that required us to be outside using power tools. So, I'm counting it. Also, I think I mowed this week. I can't remember. lol

Book News: I'm caught up on reviews, but I have books to read for September. I'm also 31 books behind on my Goodreads Challenge. And finally, I've decided to attempt my own NetGalley November. I hope to have all the books for November done in October thus clearing out some backlog, raising my % and lowering my guilt. Whether I actually get it done...we'll just have to see.

Don't Touch That Dial!: We finished CSI:Miami! Yay! We are going to start NCIS, but first I've managed to talk my hubby into watching Buffy with me. I get to rewatch, I get to convert someone and best of all, I get to rewatch. So much WIN!

At the Flicks: Heading out to see Ant-Man today. Finally. I'll report next week on whether we liked it.

Playing in Cyberspace: Not so much distraction this week. I haven't wandered off into any other fanfic sites and that's a good thing. Must stay away from those for a bit. Too much coming up to get sidetracked like that. lol I also stayed the fuck away from YouTube. Ok! Ok! I watched a bit of BatDad, but only when the guys were watching The Walking Dead.

Randomness:
For me, the struggle is real when I play alone. That's why I don't play alone anymore. lol

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

    1. I'm going to try really really hard to get, at the very minimum, 14 books done. More would be nice, but I'll start low. Your memory is so much better than mine. I couldn't remember if I had mowed though it seemed like I did because I mentioned to my hubby that the gas can needed filled. :D Anna is taking this semester off and will start college this Spring. She plans to get a job when she turns 18 (in 3 weeks). Trip is a Jr and Kyle is a Soph. Jessica has 1 semester left, but she's out on her own, though just down the road. :)

    1. I first watched it this Spring and I wanted to do a rewatch to catch what I missed. Even better that I talked someone into watching it with me. lol We've been waiting to do NCIS and now that's it's on Netflix we'll be starting it soon. :)

    1. Ikr?! The days just seem to run together. lol My first time watching was this Spring. So glad hubby agreed to watch with me. I'm catching things I missed the first time around. :) I think we're going to start switching back and forth when Season 4 starts and Season 1 of Angel begins.

    1. I have so many books over there. I feel so guilty! With luck I'll knock quite a few off the shelf. *fingers crossed*

  5. When I read about how happy moms are about the kids going back to school I think of the Staples Ad with "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" playing as the parent shops and the kids look grumpy!

    1. My kids are teens now so they don't require as much maintenance. :D But I do dread the no sleeping in part. Or on the days my hubby works I used to go back to bed. Can't do that now. :( lol

  6. I think the blogger that does the Netgalley November still does it. I like that challenge but never commit 100% because I'm an idiot that can't stop one clicking and downloading from Edelweiss.

NCIS is a GREAT show! I think it's better than CSI: Miami but the same as the original CSI. I hope you can watch NCIS: LA that one is my favorite. The show has a great touch of humor but it's very exciting. My husband watches the reruns on TNT ALL OF THEM! EVERYDAY! He's a bit obsessed :)

YAY! for water! I am glad it's still running, hope it clears up soon.

My daughter goes back to school on the 2nd and my son the 8th so we have two weeks left of summer sort of and I just want it to be over already. I feel more scheduled when they have school lol

Have a great week, Carol! Happy Reading ox

    1. Yeah, I thought there was a blogger who does that. I'm going to wing it on my own though. I've become very stressed with deadlines. That's why I do very few tours anymore. If I can get 14 books done for Nov. I'll be pleased. :)

We've been waiting fucking forever for NCIS to get to Netflix and now that it is I've talked hubby into watching Buffy. Go figure. LOL It won't be long before we get to it. I don't think NCIS:LA is on Netflix. We'll have to wait for it to show up there.

I have a feeling it's going to be like when we moved in, months before it settles down. That's ok because water. :D

I know what you mean. While I love sleeping in, it's nice that the schedule is back in place.

      Thanks, Michelle! xoxo

    1. My husband and I like building-type projects. And the shelf frees up some counter space. :)

  8. I love the idea of doing your own Netgalley November. I've had to admit that I suck at challenges so I won't be signing up for anything official but I do like the idea of directing my focus for a bit.
Would you believe I've never watched Buffy? I definitely need to fix it and it is on my Netflix list. Though my Netflix list is just about as long as my TBR list so that's not really saying all that much. I LOVE NCIS. It's a great show and I love that the characters don't go completely crazy as can sometimes happen in a long running show. I didn't love the Tony/Ziva thing but that wasn't too big of a focus so I got past it. Have a great week!

    1. Yeah, I can't do the pressure of an actual challenge right now. But setting a goal for myself is different, so maybe I can knock a few off the NetGalley dashboard. :)

I never watched Buffy until this year. I always thought it would be a silly show, but now find myself listing it as a favorite. I can't wait to start NCIS. I've been looking forward to that one for quite some time.

  9. LOL You can't remember if you mowed the lawn, love it. I love not having a lawn. :P

In addition to NetGalley November, there's a year long NetGalley challenge which I've been doing; less stress but still helpful.

NCIS is in my queue at NetFlix but I have a few shows ahead of it. Soon, my precious, soon! Have fun reatching Buffy and converting your hubby. :D

    1. The days seem to jsut all blend together anymore. lol

I'm thinking of possibly, maybe, doing the year long challenge next year. I seriously need to clear out my dashboard.

We're plowing through Buffy (wow, that sounds really naughty), so we should be getting to NCIS sooner than expected. Though we're planning to watch Angel too. I've successfully made him a fan. Maybe not as rabid as I am, but at least he likes it. :)

  10. Making sure you'll be able to read those Netgalley titles is a good idea! But every time I go over there to post a review, I end up checking out what new galleys they have, and end up adding more than I take off my shelf over there *sighs*
I hope you'll enjoy your new books!
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

  11. I wish that I was caught up on all of my reviews but I am at the opposite end of the spectrum. I have a crap ton of reviews that need to be written (and not a lot of motivation to sit and type them up). And then I wonder why I am behind :) I hope that this week goes well with you with some great books!

    1. I'm having fun watching it with my hubby. I only watched it this year and have been through the show (and Angel) only once. So I'm catching things I missed the first time. :)

  13. Oh Buffy! I haven't watched it in ages. I should pull out my DVDs and start from scratch. When it was on and then when I bought my DVDs I watched it endlessly so I came to know it too well, but it's been a couple of years since I've tuned in!

    1. Oh yes! Pull out the DVDs and watch again. It'll be like it's new again. Well, except for the old technology, but pffft. :D
