AVR News Update
Hello and Happy Sunday!

Happy? Well, hmmmm...I guess since I woke to another day, it's supposed to be sunny and in the 60s and we'll be moving stuff from the house to the new shed, I'll call it happy.

My week has been shitty. I won't go into the boring details, but it was totally capped off by my 10-yr-old desktop dying on Thursday. I have no computer. Let me repeat that...I have NO computer. Me. The person who uses the computer & internet for everything except actual cooking of meals, brewing of tea and going to the bathroom. I am sharing my husband's laptop. I hate laptops. I hate sharing. I hate not having all my sites available to me at 1 click and having to sign into everything. I hate my husband also has many of the same accounts as me and this is a royal pain in both our asses. I hate trying to use my Fire for the internet. I hate it's too fucking TINY! And slow! I hate Vista. I hate laptops. Wait, I think I mentioned that already. I hate I've finished books that need reviews written. I hate...nevermind. I think you're getting the idea. Since we've been busy with other stuff this weekend, he's going to look at my computer tomorrow (or today since I'm actually writing this Saturday night). I'm hoping he can boot to safe mode and save my pictures at the very least. If not then I'm lighting the emergency computer beacon for the Geek Squad. In any case, I think it's not ever going to be of use to me again. So, I've been looking for a tower on Amazon and I think I found one that will work and isn't very expensive. So maybe by next Sunday I'll be up and running again. Huge HUGE thanks to my friends who have commiserated with me this week and an extra special thanks with gigantic hugs and sloppy kisses to my special friends who did something so immensely touching that I cried. You know who you are.

So, even if when I'm up and running again, I've decided I need to put my blog on hold. This has to do in part with my shitty week. Long story very short, I need money. So I have something I need to work on and see if I can be good at. No, I'm not saying what it is. Yet. Why? Because I'm mean like that. *snickers* Anyway, to do that I can't spend the time I do on the blog. With luck and dedication (oh, sweet bejeezus, my procrastination is already whining) I won't be gone long. My internet addiction will not allow me to totally disappear, but blogging will have to be back burnered.  Keep your fingers, toes and eyes, wait, not your eyes, crossed and send out any prayers, posivibes and good juju you can spare. I'd be most appreciative.

With that, I must leave you all, go to YouTube and get my Spike fix. I have recently developed a slight (oh, who am I kidding, it's ginormous) obsession with Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Since I've never actually watched the show yet (I've been catching pieces of it while the 15-yr-old watches it), I've been feeding my Spike addiction with clips on YouTube. And I need to get my fix before hubby finishes watching Bourne Ultimatum with our 15-yr-old and wants his laptop back. Hope he doesn't mind sweaty drooly keys.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. I'm sorry, but I laughed reading your rant (sorry again !). At the same time, I can totally relate, I'd be lost without computers and internet, I can only manage it when I go to my mother's house on vacation. When I got to the part where you confess never having watched Buffy, my jaw fell on the floor ! If you lived near me, I'd lend you the DVD boxes I own of Buffy and Angel - got them all ! I've even got the music on CD. Can't resist, here's one of my favorite links about Spike (and before you watch this, remember : Spike is mine !!!) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38WCCKE9J4s Enjoy your future new tower, take your time with the blog and have a better week, Carol :)

  2. *hugs* I think shitty weeks have been going around, I had some good moments, but overall this was not a good week :/ I'm also taking a blog break, but will miss you none the less - hopefully you wont be gone long! And I missed monster porn Monday this week - better go check it out ;)

Oh and I'm all about Spike - you really must watch all if Buffy, but if you're going to randomly pick, season 6 is a good Spike season :)

  3. LOVE Spike! I was addicted to Buffy and Spike was my favourite character. I always think of him when I'm reading about Bones in Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress books. You need to watch those dvds! I feel your pain about the book reviews-I am drowning in the things and never seem to find the time or motivation to get them written up and posted. I hope to TRY and do that today...

  6. When just my laptop screen broke I was miserable. I still had a linked desktop I could use. I have gotten so used to my laptop in bed and on my comfy couch, that using the desk seems miserable.

  7. Computers have become such a big part of our lives that just going down a week is like the end of the world. I hate when my computer goes down, I feel lost.
I am sorry you are having a shitty week I think it's an epidemic. I haven't had a good start to the year but I am hopeful it will work itself out soon.
Hope whatever you have planned works for you! *fingers crossed*

You really need to marathon Buffy! It's one of my FAVORITE shows, I can still watch them over and over again.

Have a great week! I will miss you and look forward to your return! *hugs*

  9. Oh no! Computer issues are the absolute worst. I struggle just trying to comment from my ipad so I don't even attempt to blog from there :) I hope that you are able to get a new computer soon and get back up and running!!! Here is to hoping that this week goes much better for you!

  11. Oh I can so relate. I go crazy when my phone or computer are slow starting up because I'm always convinced that it's the end and then I go on a crazy mind rant about what am I going to do. Hopefully you'll have a new computer soon and you're practicing soothing breathing! Have a great week!

  14. In order to reduce my stress levels I'm going to do a general reply here. Thank you everyone for stopping by. I greatly appreciate your comments and I apologize for not replying individually or returning the visit. I know everyone understands, but I still feel like a big shit for not doing those most basic of blogger things.

In other news, I'm up and running with a "new" computer and will have an update in tomorrow's Sunday Post about it. :)
