Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front:  Ellie started school Monday. Back to a regular routine. Yay!

Anna got the job we both applied for and that's great! I may be joining her part time, but it's a wait and see game right now. 3 days a week (which is what it could be) would actually fit better with all I have to do with the household. She started Friday and they said she did awesome. She's off for Labor Day, so will go back on Tuesday.

Kyle worked OT all week, so up at 4am to take him to work. I think we need to make time for him to practice so he can start driving himself. We've been super lazy about it. We saw two cars on fire last week. I've never, in my life, ever seen an actual car fire. The aftermath, yes. The first one, the flames were just starting to come out from under the hood. It was on the side of the highway after I picked him up. The very next day, in the morning on the way to work, we saw a car completely engulfed in flames. So very weird!

Thursday was grocery pick up and errands.

Saturday was the usual cleaning. And then I just sat mindlessly playing Solitaire on my phone while watching Criminal Minds even though I have books and excerpts to read. I didn't even finish my Sunday Post. It made me feel very guilty.

Today I'm finishing this post while thinking about cutting my hair. I had a dream the other night that I cut it short. Which I've been thinking of doing for awhile now since it's in the middle of my back. It's hot and heavy and I'm tired of it. Plus, this length is usually when I cut it to donate, something I'd done for 30 years. I also have laundry to do.

Touching Nature: Hot, hot, hot. However, rain came Friday and cooled things down a bit. Still a little humid, but not horrible. Will probably need to mow this coming week.

Book News: I finished an audio and nearly finished another because it is short. I finished another tour book (late), but have one more to do. I read two of ten of my BBNYA2024 excerpts. Kinda hoping to finish those today. Or, at least, get most done. Deadline is Sept 9th. Eeeee! I'm on a private book review site (people who were on BookLikes created it after BL went to shit - if you want to join let me know) and we start Halloween Bingo. I've never participated before, but everyone has such fun with it, so this should be interesting.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Still rewatching Criminal Minds. I'm just mindlessly watching when I should be reading, but I'm tired so I know if I read I'll just fall asleep.

At the Flicks: Deadpool and Wolverine - Hilarious and gory. I loved it!

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, the Finch app - if you want to be friends just let me know

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Sometimes you just gotta be a slug. Ooze along. Leave a slime trail. Eat the food left out for the toads. Mate on the side of the house for all to see. Ok, maybe don't be a slug. Be a sloth instead.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Sometimes one does just need to relax and let go of things. I don't very often because my daughter needs things. And there is always pickup and cleaning to be done. This week looks better after today with north winds and temps around 80. I need to get ahead on reading a bit and plan the fall garden and yes, mow the lawn again.

    1. I'm not good at just letting things slide. There's always so much to do around here. It's something I need to "work" on. lol However, I did get things done yesterday including my BBNYA excerpts, so yay! I'm looking forward to the cooler temps.
