--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: Week started off okay then we got derailed by snow. It was awesome! :D

Touching Nature: Holy shit! It snowed around 12 hrs on Weds and we got about 8.5" of the lovely white fluffy stuff. Some areas got more. This effectively shut down North Carolina. lol So much for the 1-2" they predicted. And I can't tell you how nice it was to get only snow. No ice, no freezing rain, no sleet, none of that bullshit we usually get. Just...snow. *sighs happily* We did some sledding down our drive (it's about 300' long and slopes at around a 35º angle) on Weds and Thurs, but by Fri it was starting to melt. Our drive is still very slippery, but I'm hoping to get the cars up it today since the gravel is starting to show in spots. Finally. My husband's truck has 4-wheel drive so we've been using it to go up and down. It was in the 50s yesterday and we're supposed to be in the 60s the next few days. Typical NC. *rolls eyes*

We definitely put our last years sled purchases to good use and we're loving our new snow boots that we picked up before Christmas. We moved to NC from OH in 1998 and I hadn't bought boots since. No one in the family had any snow boots all these years. They came in handy this week. Woot!

Book News:
I've been too busy preparing for snow, then playing in the snow, then getting groceries, then cleaning up after the snow, to do much reading. But I have done some.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Not much.

At the Flicks: Not yet.

Cyberspace Playground: Yep. Still playing Pokémon. And Wordscapes.

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Don't pee into the wind. That is all. lol

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

Because of the snow I missed the hold I had.
I put it back in the queue. No big deal.

  1. There is nothing worse than ice. I'm glad you only got snow. I hope you have a great week.

    1. I hate ice. It takes down trees and power lines and is a royal pain in the ass. Snow, even here in NC, is sooooooo much better. :)

  2. You guys looked like you had a lot of fun! Snow is nice when it's occasional but not as often as we get it. I hate the ice or the squish. That is my least favorite when it comes to winter.

Have an awesome week, Carol! Happy Reading! ox

    1. It was so much fun because we had actual sleds and snow boots. lol Ice is the worst. And something we see way too much of down here. Ugh.

I hope you have a fantastic week, Michelle! XO

  3. How fun to have actual snow! All we get is ice and really when it comes down to it I'm not a fan of cold in any way shape or form. Once it gets below 55 or 60 I see no point in it. All the sledding does look fun! Have a great week!

    1. Yeah, we typically get ice in some form, so snow was welcome. Especially since I haven't seen a really good snow in a long time. I grew up in Ohio and I actually miss it. Occasionally. lol

  4. I am glad you enjoyed the snow, while I didn't. I am also glad that you got to use your sleds. :)

    Have a great week!
