--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: I finished my Christmas shopping, got all the Christmas cards ready to go out, wrapped half of the presents, and hubby and I secretly started playing Pokémon Go without telling the kids. Actually, he started on the 7th and I started on the 8th. We took the kids out to lunch on Thurs and ran by one of the gyms where we had put our Pokémon in and they were like, wtf? There's someone named Chowhound86 and VoraciousRdr in here. LOLOL I have no idea what I'm doing, but with 4 teens in the house I have plenty of people to help me out. We were going to wait as long as possible to tell them, but I got tired of sneaking around to catch the ones in the house and then I couldn't just run up the driveway to catch them. I mean, I never run up the driveway. Ever. That would have been a dead giveaway. :D

Touching Nature: Not too bad during the day, but chilly at night. And a few days there it was super windy. I and my borrowed Mighty Backpack (blower) engaged in Battle III of Leafageddon and were gloriously victorious. Everything looks so much nicer now.

Book News: I have absolutely nothing to report here. Too much Christmasing and not enough reading.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Trip and I have finished Season 1 of Arrow and have proceeded into Season 2. Other than that, I have nothing to report.

At the Flicks: We will be seeing The Last Jedi on the 26th. Trying to avoid spoilers is the name of the game.

Cyberspace Playground: Wordscapes has been shuffled to the back burner in favor of Pokémon Go. I still play it daily, but not nearly as often during the day.

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: When you know you'll be doing some out of the ordinary physical exertion, take a pain reliever before you get going. I forgot to do that before using the backpack leaf blower and I paid for it later. Ow.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. I love playing Pokemon go with my kids. My son is very good at catching them and evolving them. I just like to catch them but I never find any good ones lol We play more in the spring because we can walk around more and it's lighter later.

I hope you have a great week, Carol! Happy Reading! ox

    1. Hubby went to work yesterday (2nd shift) so the kids and I made a library run. There's a park between the library and the parking garage. Man, downtown Greensboro has a lot of Pokémon shit going on. lol The kids talked me into going to the Grasshoppers (baseball) park for my first raid. It's only about 8 blocks away from the library (we drove). We were getting our asses handed to us when a car with 5 people showed up and helped us win. Whew! Thank you, 4 Mystic and 1 Instinct strangers. lolol Btw, we are 3 Valor and 1 Mystic. Hubby is Valor also. And my oldest son, in Ohio, is Instinct.

I hope you have a fantastic week, Michelle! XOXO

    1. I love the ones that pop up in the house the best. lol Although I have been walking up the drive more to catch those. And it's a good workout. Our drive slants upward and it's over 300' long. The Pokémon like to hang out at around 250'. lol

  3. We were windy here too, especially on trash day. It looks like an apocalypse out there with trash blowing down the street. I am not ready for Christmas and in a real funk. Ah well, this too shall pass. Have a great week my friend!

    1. Windy and trash day, that's not a good combination. :-O I've also been in a funk and I think it's too much internet. I think I may need a short break. I hope your funk and mine shall pass quickly. *fingers crossed*

  6. I haven't gotten on the Pokemon GO train yet, although I would probably like it. I always miss the new stuff when it's new. Cell phones, NetGalley, Instagram, Pokemon GO, brookies...LOL!

    1. I've had a cell phone for years, but finally got a smartphone last year. I'm 100% positive it's a lot smarter than me. lol But brookies! You must make those! So easy and delicious! I use a brownie mix, premade cookies (I flatten them a little before plopping them on the brownie mix) and bake them in cupcake pans.
