Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front: On Monday we had the grandbabies all day. Man, they sure are growing fast! It won't be long before Boone is mobile while Kyleigh is a go-go-go kinda girl. Good thing we have teens in the house to help because they kept us hopping.
So, as some of you on Facebook have seen, I've been dealing with new technology this week. On Tuesday we upgraded our phones after 4 yrs with the same one. Not just any phone though. Oh, no. Our very first smartphones: me, hubby, Trip & Kyle~Anna has had an iPhone for nearly 2 yrs. WTF did I get myself into? I have no clue what I'm doing. I still have problems answering the damn thing and I really haven't had any time to play with it. So...the struggle is real. I'm sure I'll eventually figure it out. I said we wouldn't get smartphones until the price came down and the next thing I know Verizon is running a special. Shit. That only leaves satellite. We gave that up in 2009 and there's no cable on our road. So unless the price becomes free I think we'll pass on that.
Also, our 16-yr-old microwave died on Weds and we picked up a new one on Friday. I can't figure out that thing either. Why does it have to have so many options?! And we bought one of the more simpler ones! *sigh*
In other news: We'll be decorating for Halloween today. We love Halloween. We'll also be watching football and I have some things to bake in the kitchen, so my internetting will be minimal.
Touching Nature: Holy shit! We got some serious and heavy duty rain (and hail!) on Weds and our beautiful driveway washed again. Dammit! What good is 32 ton of gravel if it washes? Ok, it was a pretty nasty storm and the drive survived 2 heavy rains before it, but I sure hope Hurricane Matthew passes us by this week. The last time our drive was this bad was Crazy Ivan in 2004. But we fixed it. Mostly. It's not as nice as before but at least it's not trench-riddled.
Book News: I had 12 reviews to write, managed to write 9, read 1 more book and now I have 4 to write. Whew!
Don't Touch That Dial!: Only a few episodes of NCIS, but several episodes of Star Wars: Clone Wars.
At the Flicks: Nope
Cyberspace Playground: No time. Deadlines really suck.
Randomness: I want this. Because reasons.
Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Buy meat when it's on sale, cut it up yourself, and freeze it. I do pork chops from a pork loin and stew meat from roasts. Takes only a little bit of time, but saves money for more important things. Like books. Or chocolate.

Welcome to the new age of Technology, You will love it here. My phone is my life-line. I would be so lost without it. You will get the hang of it eventually.
ReplyDeleteIt took me WEEKS to find a new microwave and the one we have I don't like. It's just not like my old one and I liked my old one. Stupid things up and died on me. This new one is stupid and I don't like it. :)
I hope Matthew stays away from all of us. The Hurricanes at the end of the season always seem to be the most crazy. Can't remember a Halloween/Beginning of November that we didn't have a crazy type of storm.
I am decorating too today! I can't wait. I love how the house looks all decorated.
Have a great week, Carol! Happy Reading! ox
I still haven't played with it. I have no ringtones and I've only added 3 apps, but havent' even used them yet. lol
DeleteI'm hoping this microwave lasts awhile, but my hopes aren't high. New stuff doesn't seem to last like old stuff anymore. :(
Matthew is so slow moving we still don't know what it's going to do to the US. Yeesh.
I only had one bag of cobwebs! *flails* I must pick up a few more this week after I get deadlines taken care of.
Thanks! :)
I got an iphone this past year. Before that, I had a flip phone and it was the only phone I'd ever owned. HAH You get used to it though, and it's handy to have other things on your phone!
ReplyDeleteI'll be curious to see what you think of Through the Woods. I really enjoyed that one.

I'm still having a hard time answering mine for some reason. It's really geting annoying. I haven't done anything else with it yet, but my husband seems to be addicted to his. Of the two of us I figured I'd be the one always on it. lol
DeleteWelcome to the age of technology. Lol! I can't imagine not having my smart phone - it's how I read most blogs every morning. And I print from it,lesson plan. It's kinda essential for me!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your drive way, I wish mother nature would. Be nicer for you! Anyways have a great week!
Technology sucks. lol Ok, maybe not. Once I have time to play with this darn thing maybe I'll like it better. :D
DeleteOur drive is just bad design. I wish we had the money to pave it then it can rain all it damn well pleases. lol
Oh boy, smart phone...lol. Them things do take a bit of time to learn. My father still hasn't got his all figured out and it drives me crazy...lol. Oh I hope all that rain didn't mess up your new driveway to much. :(
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

IKR?! Someone needs to walk me through this thing. My hsuband does more on it than I do. I think the only one doing less is our 15yo and he's more addicted to his laptop, so it's understandable. Even Trip is on his constantly now that he has Pokemon Go on it. lolol
Delete*fingers crossed* that Matthew stays mostly out to sea. Maybe it'll bounce off the coast. We can hope.
