--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!
Goodbye June, Hello July!
2016 is now

On the Home Front: Kyle had a Dr app't on Tuesday and they did bloodwork and sent him to a pediatric cardiologist for an echocardiogram. When we got there Weds morn Teletubbies was on their tv. Kyle is 15. LOL Anyway, everything is fine. He just needs to exercise and maybe lay off the Poptarts. He's not overweight, in fact he's skinny, but he's definitely out of shape (too bad YouTube video watching and video game console playing doesn't count as exercise because he'd be in the best shape ever lol) and since he hates veggies of any kind I got him some vitamins. Picky eater. *exasperated sigh*

On Thurs hubby, Anna and I helped Jessica move her furniture. The only Uhaul truck was a 10'-er and it looked super tiny. I thought for sure we'd have to make two trips, but after looking at her stuff and doing some mental gymnastics I figured out how to get it all in. Booyah! I'm still the packing Queen.

Lastly, I chopped off my hair on Friday. Great Clips gives free haircuts if you're donating 12" and I had plenty. I normally donate to Pantene's Beautiful Lengths, but Great Clips participates in a program for Wigs for Kids. Both programs don't charge for their wigs. Unlike that rat bastard company Locks of Love. Don't EVER donate to them!!! Anyway, my hair hasn't been this short in decades. It feels so weird. I'm hoping Jessica can give me some color streaks next weekend. I'm leaning towards purple.

Touching Nature: It's been hot and humid with a daily alternating mix of rain then sun then rain then sun then...well, you get the idea. Luckily on Thursday the rain held off and it didn't get too hot until later in the day because *see above. Then I was able to mow on Saturday even though it rained the night before. We had a friend come spray for bugs on Tues and I have to say it's nice going outside and not getting eaten alive. That's all the nature I need for a while. Unless it cools down or at least is less humid and it doesn't look like it's going to do that for some time yet.

Book News: I've been so busy this week that I haven't had a chance to write up reviews for books I've finished (8 of them). Some of them are for this week! GAH! I hope to have them all done today. I've also been neglecting comments and visiting, but with luck all the mayhem is done (at least for awhile) and I'll have time to get caught up. I've missed you guys!

Don't Touch That Dial!: Hubby and I managed a few episodes of Supernatural (Season 9). Ahhhh! Felt good to get back to the boys for a little while.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: I haven't had a chance to watch Joe in awhile, so Friday I was getting caught up while I had some lunch. Here's one of the videos I watched for you to enjoy. :D

Randomness: Star Trek fans will get this. :D
Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Always take the opportunity to use the bathroom before you get to Red Alert status. You never know when you'll get stuck in traffic or a bathroom will be out of service or your family will be hogging yours. No one enjoys doing the peepee dance (or prairie dogging), so go every opportunity that presents itself even if you don't think you have to.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  2. Oh yes, I live by that nugget of wisdom! More so the older I get.

I think you'd look good with purple streaks, go for it!

I'm afraid to count how many reviews I need to write but I'm slowly chipping away at them. We can do it!

    Enjoy the holiday!

  5. Oh I feel your pain with the picky eater! I was kind of smug about the older three because while they aren't particularly adventurous they're not super picky but the youngest one is giving me a run for my money! That's great about the hair and I'm pro-purple. I think that'd be really fun. I need to keep Wigs for Kids and the Pantene program in mind for if I ever get brave enough to do something like that. It's such a great thing to do. I'm so behind on Supernatural! I desperately need to get back to the boys. I miss Dean especially. Have a great week!

  6. I super suck at packing. My mom even banned me from loading the dish washer! I have a friend who is pretty good at it, so she is definitely helping when it's time for me to move. I definitely think Uhauls are the way to go when moving, unless you have a hoard of friends with trucks. I donated to Locks of Love twice - 16 inches the first time I ever cut my hair, and then 12 inches a few years later. About two years after my last donation, I discovered what Locks of Love really does and I was sick. It is so despicable. And most of the hair is not even used! I will always donate to Pantene's program if I ever donate again, and I make sure everyone I know who is interested or has long hair knows where to donate their hair and why. I say go purple! Why not?

When my second brother was about 8 or so he had to see a new doctor in our regular doctor's office. I guess it was a shared practice or Dr. Kuhl was unavailable. This was also right around the time that discussions about BMI became really popular. Anyway, this lady started telling my mom that she needed to have him tested for his cholesterol and talking about a diet for his BMI and how he needed to be drinking 2% milk and on and on. My brother was so skinny you could see his ribcage! He still is as a 19 year old Infantryman! He just ate what he liked, and he ate like a little bird. My mother refused to ever see that doctor again.

Hope you have a great week!

  7. I hope Kyle starts doing better. I am sure that is worrisome.

And thanks for sharing Joe. Yeah, I wasted some time watching him, he is entertaining.

I can't wait to see you with purple hair! :D What a wonderful gesture, donating your hair. I am sure once you get used to shorter hair you will love it. Try not to work so hard. You make me feel lazy.
