AVR News Update
I had to skip last week's Sunday Post due to a rip in the Space Time Continuum. Ok, ok, it wasn't anything that complicated. I simply had no time.

First the bad news. On 10/29 the starter went out on our van. On Halloween, after Trick or Treating we picked up my husband from work then went to Hardees to eat. The service was horrible insomuch as we didn't get any even after standing at the counter for 10 minutes. I think they had 3 people working and they were exclusively working the drive-thru. So we went to another location to eat. Bad idea. A 2nd bad experience in one night. Will we be going to Hardees again anytime soon? Hell no. On 11/1 we pick up our van and later that day we get rear ended. The hatch is FUBAR, but at least it's driveable. Happy happy joy joy. On 11/4 the van develops a coolant leak. Back to the shop it goes.

Now, for the good news. My stepdaughter got married 11/1. How cute are they? :)
On 11/3, after over 3 years of working on the shed, AKA the Exterior Library, we finally got it enclosed. Some trim and paint and the exterior will be done. But we can start working on the interior now. Yay!
My Browns beat the Ravens. Chicago beat the Packers. Titans beat the Rams. Panthers beat the Falcons. And the Steelers lost. Everyone in this house was happy last Sunday. Woot!

Yesterday was the annual All-U-Can-Eat BBQ at a local church. We look forward to it every year. So we went and ate ourselves into a food coma. Ahhhhhh! Yummy food and I didn't have to cook. There's not much better.

And special for today:
On November 10, 1775, a Corps of Marines was created by a resolution of Continental Congress. Since that date many thousand men (and women) have borne the name "Marine". In memory of them, it is fitting that we who are Marines should commemorate the birthday of our corps by calling to mind the glories of its long and illustrious history.
Happy 238th Birthday Marines! Semper Fi.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  6. Ugh, that stinks about your van. Hardee's is Carl's Jr. in our are, and their food and service has gone downhill over the last couple of years. I can't eat there anymore. Congrats to your step-daughter, though! And great haul.

    1. I know, right? Maybe it's done being an asshat for awhile? One can hope. lol

If I didn't like Hardees chicken strips and o-rings so much I'd never go again. The one at Carolina Beach was wonderful. We'd go there again, but locally? No.

      Thanks! :)

  8. Dang sorry about the car trouble - sometimes I wish I could do without a vehicle completely, they can be so much trouble. On the plus side, that all you can eat BBQ is sounding pretty wonderful, wish I could have been there (I'm on a diet, so all mentions of food are pretty wonderful)

Congrats to your daughter - they look so sweet :-) Here's to a great week moving forward!

We probably won't have pics of the interior until Spring at the earliest. Still have to put down linoleum and build book shelves. But I'll share pics when we have them. :)

  21. What a great haul this week! Library, a win and lots of freebies - I think it makes up for the Hardees fiasco! Not for the van, tho :( Perhaps the van is cursed or something! SUCKS!!! I'm so sorry! At least your step daughter got married! That's always a celebration!

Hope next week is better and the van is home and safe again! Down with Hardees!!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thanks! :) Hardees is an easy fix. We avoid them. The van, on the other hand...*sigh*. I agree, I think it's cursed.

Van is home for the time being. Waiting for insurance and estimates before the back hatch is fixed. At least that problem will be paid for by someone else. Always a plus.
