AVR News Update
The weather has turned freakishly cold the last few nights. Well, for NC anyway. I mowed for what I hope is the last time and I'll most likely need to drag the leaf blower out sometime this upcoming week for the first of many blowings until all the leaves are down. That's the one drawback to living in the woods.

We've finally managed to get some more work done on our shed, AKA the Exterior Library. If the weather forecast holds for Monday we should be able to finish the soffit on the final side and install the door. If we manage that, I'll post pics next Sunday. :)

My stepdaughter (22) and her fiancé are getting married this week and there will be a granddaughter addition to the family at the end of February. Our first grandbaby. As much as I've harangued my oldest son (28) over the last few years about producing grandbabies, now that we're going to be actual grandparents I realize I'm not old enough to be a grandma. LOL

This is AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Nice haul! I haven't read anything by Piers Anthony...you have me curious...will have to check my library's holdings. The Curl Up and Die was featured at the publishers' event I recently attended. It sounds like a fun read. Hope you enjoy it and all your other books.

Looking forward to photos of your Exterior Library!

    1. Anthony writes sci-fi/fantasy. The series I'm re-reading now is fantasy and one I enjoyed when I first read it 15 yrs ago. :)

  2. The Curl Up and Die book looks like fun. I know the need for more book space. Good luck with the extended library!

  3. I read a number of Piers Anthony books years ago and enjoyed them as I recall. You got a number of good looking books this week. Have fun reading!

    1. I've read several of his books, but the Incarnations of Immortality has always been a favorite. :) Thanks!

  4. We've been having rubbish weather here too. There's a storm brewing. The good thing about bad weather is that it's a great time to curl up with a book!

    Enjoy your week.

    1. This upcoming week might not be too bad. Weather just can't make up its mind. lol And you're correct! Cold weather is perfect for a book, soft blankie and hot tea or hot chocolate.

  5. Whoa, seeing those Piers Anthony covers takes me back to my college days. I used to enjoy his books very much.

I'm so glad that I don't have to deal with yard work as I live in a condo. But playing in the leaves can be fun. :D

Congrats on the new son-in-law and the impending grandbaby.

    Happy reading!

  8. We will never be old enough to have grandbabies, although I am looking forward to it, and eventually reading to little ones again. I miss that..somehow I cannot see my 19, 21, and 22 year old sitting down to let me read to them. Boo. Have a wonderful week, sounds like you will be busy, busy, busy!

    1. The 'problem' about being a grandparent is I still have 3 kids at home, ages 13, 14 & 16! LOL I don't read to them, but we do listen to audiobooks and they are guest reviewing on the blog. :)

  10. Yes, the weather has changed here as well. I don't like to be cold :( but I love hot chocolate and the changes in colors. Congrats on the upcoming addition to the family! Enjoy your week and books! :)

    1. I'd actually rather have cold weather than hot. At least when it's cold you can keep adding layers, but when it's hot, once you're naked that's it. LOL Thanks! :)

  11. Oh I'm incredibly jealous that you got Unchained - I'll be very excitedly awaiting your review :-) And congratulations on all the family news - weddings and babies, oh my! And just remember, your kids are super young to be having kids, that's why you're going to be a grandma, not because you're actually old enough ;) Congrats on both! Have a wonderful week and try to not to get too stressed with wedding excitement!

  15. Oh how sweet! I hope the wedding goes great, and I'm sure the baby will be. ;)

You just reminded me of another reason I dislike this time of year ... the gardeners next door blowing leaves into our yard. Grr.

Not very nice blowing their leaves into your yard. Thankfully, I don't have to be careful here. I just blow them into the woods.

  16. Oh my husband was saying how wrong it felt as he was mowing the grass and it was snowing! Yes snowing! LOL! Our weather has turned rather cold the last week or so. But, that happens this time of year here. Although the snow flakes were a bit early. lol

Have fun at the wedding! :) Have a great week.

I think so, too. I wouldn't going through the change already. 33 yrs dealing with a period is quite long enough.
