I had to skip last week's Sunday Post due to a rip in the Space Time Continuum. Ok, ok, it wasn't anything that complicated. I simply had no time.AVR News Update
First the bad news. On 10/29 the starter went out on our van. On Halloween, after Trick or Treating we picked up my husband from work then went to Hardees to eat. The service was horrible insomuch as we didn't get any even after standing at the counter for 10 minutes. I think they had 3 people working and they were exclusively working the drive-thru. So we went to another location to eat. Bad idea. A 2nd bad experience in one night. Will we be going to Hardees again anytime soon? Hell no. On 11/1 we pick up our van and later that day we get rear ended. The hatch is FUBAR, but at least it's driveable. Happy happy joy joy. On 11/4 the van develops a coolant leak. Back to the shop it goes.
Now, for the good news. My stepdaughter got married 11/1. How cute are they? :)
On 11/3, after over 3 years of working on the shed, AKA the Exterior Library, we finally got it enclosed. Some trim and paint and the exterior will be done. But we can start working on the interior now. Yay!
My Browns beat the Ravens. Chicago beat the Packers. Titans beat the Rams. Panthers beat the Falcons. And the Steelers lost. Everyone in this house was happy last Sunday. Woot!
Yesterday was the annual All-U-Can-Eat BBQ at a local church. We look forward to it every year. So we went and ate ourselves into a food coma. Ahhhhhh! Yummy food and I didn't have to cook. There's not much better.
And special for today:
On November 10, 1775, a Corps of Marines was created by a resolution of Continental Congress. Since that date many thousand men (and women) have borne the name "Marine". In memory of them, it is fitting that we who are Marines should commemorate the birthday of our corps by calling to mind the glories of its long and illustrious history.
Happy 238th Birthday Marines! Semper Fi.

Oh man! You had a rough go of it with the car. Been there! Great haul this week, enjoy your books! Have a great week :-)
ReplyDeleteOne thing after another is getting old. lol Thanks and you, too! :)
DeleteGreat looking books...but how horrible about the car! Hope its issues are resolved soon.
ReplyDeleteGreat couple, too.
Here's MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES
This van is one problem after another. *sigh* With luck we'll have the hatch fixed next week. Insurance companies have to wrangle it out.
DeleteWow, hugs my friend. Sweet haul and I am glad you got the book. I hope the next few weeks are wonderful. Congrats to your daughter and new son-in-law.
ReplyDeleteI'd settle for an uneventful rest of the year. lol Thanks for the hugs and the congrats. :)
DeleteSounds like you had more than your share of bad luck with the vehicle, yikes. Sorry to hear that. The Exterior Library looks great! Looks like you guys did a great job with it. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteThis is the same vehicle we replaced the engine in last year. Lovely, right? *sigh*
DeleteThanks! We can't wait to start building shelves for our books! *rubs hands together in glee*
Congrats to your daughter. Enjoy the new books and the finished Exterior Library. Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteJenea @ Books Live Forever's Sunday Post
Thank you! :)
DeleteUgh, that stinks about your van. Hardee's is Carl's Jr. in our are, and their food and service has gone downhill over the last couple of years. I can't eat there anymore. Congrats to your step-daughter, though! And great haul.
ReplyDeleteI know, right? Maybe it's done being an asshat for awhile? One can hope. lol
DeleteIf I didn't like Hardees chicken strips and o-rings so much I'd never go again. The one at Carolina Beach was wonderful. We'd go there again, but locally? No.
Thanks! :)
Congrats to your stepdaughter! :) I have Bellman & Black too, I heard it's really good I just haven't gotten to it yet ;)
ReplyDeleteDee's Reads
Thank you!
DeleteI'm looking forward to reading B&B. :)
Dang sorry about the car trouble - sometimes I wish I could do without a vehicle completely, they can be so much trouble. On the plus side, that all you can eat BBQ is sounding pretty wonderful, wish I could have been there (I'm on a diet, so all mentions of food are pretty wonderful)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your daughter - they look so sweet :-) Here's to a great week moving forward!
I wish we could, too. *sigh*
DeleteBBQ was so good. And we brought some home. Win! :)
Thanks! :)
Awww... hope your luck changes for the better now... My year has been like that and was ready to hit 2014 back in April!! lol
ReplyDeleteNice haul girl, have a great week!

I hope to read mine soon, to. :)
DeleteThanks and you, too!
I hope your van finally gets fixed. And a wedding. How wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHave a great reading week!
I'm hoping to get it in next week for a replacement hatch. Once the insurance companies are done wrangling. Good thing my vehicle is driveable or I'd be raising holy hell for the delay.
DeleteThanks! :)
Haven't eaten at Hardees and won't plan to! Hope your week goes better. Congrats on the wedding and the exterior library.
ReplyDeleteGood plan! :)
DeleteI hope so, too. Thanks!
Wow, you've had quite a week. Hope this one is better! Enjoy decorating your library. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd settle for this one being just boring. lol
DeleteThanks! :)
Enjoy decorating your library! I'm working on getting mine organized again it got turned into a junk room against my wishes when my sister took over our house with her family this past summer. You'll have to post pictures when it's all done! Also congrats to your stepdaughter! Mr. Turning the Pages and I have been thinking of tying the knot soon too :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my Sunday Post :)
-Kimberly @ Turning the Pages
And enjoy all your new books!
Our EL also was turned into a catch all while we are building it. Now, I need to actually sort through the stuff out there and make way for book shelves. lol
DeleteThanks! :)
Glad there was some good news to balance out the bad! Awesome haul this week, hope you enjoy them! Thanks for sharing & stopping by Bookmunchies (:
ReplyDeleteMe, too! Thanks! :)
DeleteBoo hiss for car trouble! Frightens the life out of me as you never know how much it will set you back. But huge congrats to your step-daughter and her new hubbie :)
ReplyDeleteNice haul, I've been eying up Bellman and Black as well.
Happy reading.
Exactly! Our repair shop is awesome though. I can't recommend them enough. They get us fixed, quickly and at a decent price.
DeleteThanks! :)
Congratulations on your step-daughter getting married. :) they look adorable :D
ReplyDeleteGreat haul and Happy Reading!! :D
*goes off to check out some of those books*
Thank you! :)
Delete*ties string to Rashika* You know, to find your way back. I know how going off to look at books goes. lol
Congrats to your step-daughter and new step-son-in-law! Filling a whole shed with books and decorating sounds like it will be exhausting but lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
DeleteThe thought of the shelving ahead is a bit overwhelming, but exciting, too. Of course, we need to build shelves first, but that's half the fun. :D
Oh wow, talk about car troubles. That is horrible.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your stepdaughter and her husband!
Your library is adorable, I can't wait to see the interior.
You got some good looking books, enjoy!
This van...*sigh*. Never will buy another GM product.
DeleteThanks! :)
We probably won't have pics of the interior until Spring at the earliest. Still have to put down linoleum and build book shelves. But I'll share pics when we have them. :)
What a great haul this week! Library, a win and lots of freebies - I think it makes up for the Hardees fiasco! Not for the van, tho :( Perhaps the van is cursed or something! SUCKS!!! I'm so sorry! At least your step daughter got married! That's always a celebration!
ReplyDeleteHope next week is better and the van is home and safe again! Down with Hardees!!!
Thanks! :) Hardees is an easy fix. We avoid them. The van, on the other hand...*sigh*. I agree, I think it's cursed.
DeleteVan is home for the time being. Waiting for insurance and estimates before the back hatch is fixed. At least that problem will be paid for by someone else. Always a plus.
Congratulations on the family wedding! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAND the Bears beat the Packers AND somebody, anybody beat the Steelers. that's a good week in my book too.
I can't wait to see what you think about Bellman & Black. It looked tempting, but I refrained. For once.
Good luck with the cursed van and thanks for stopping by my Sunday Post
Thank you! This weekend wasn't as wonderful football-wise. *pouts*
DeleteI'm looking forward to reading B&B. I'm hoping to get to it in a few weeks.
Thanks! I'll take all the good luck I can get. lol
A kiss before the apocalypse got mixed reviews but I liked it when I read it earlier this year. Thanks for visiting my blog and good luck with the Exterior Library! I could do with one...
ReplyDeleteI think I'll like it. I have read any of his books though, so we'll see. :)
DeleteThanks!
I love your exterior library! I need one of those...
ReplyDeleteThank you! I can't wait for it to be done. :)
