AVR News Update
The vacay continues and despite a few minor set backs I did manage to get quite a bit done behind the scenes this week. My Excel sheets are set up and just need some more filling out, but the bulk of the work is done. I did some work for Ind'tale's Goodreads profile and I've been reading every chance I've managed to squeeze out of the day.
This coming week will continue with reading, reading, reading and with a bit of judicious juggling we should be able to go to the beach for the weekend thanks to friends who have a place for us to stay and my stepdaughter who will house & pet sit for us. Cross your fingers that we can go. The kids (not to mention hubby & I) are really looking forward to a few days of sand and surf.
My daughter's Sweet 16 was Friday the 13th. My oldest son (he's 28) sent her flowers and a teddy bear. Is that sweet or what? So proud of him. :)
I've been asked to join some book tours, so I'll be having a few of those coming up in November. I've also had a stellar week in Shelf Additions as you'll see below. I'm going to figure out how to add an RSS feed, I've started adding labels to posts and I'm hoping to get some graphics going for my upcoming features, Walking on Wednesday with Audios and Saturday Shorts.
So, I may or may not stay on vacay until Sept. 30th or I may pick up the pace after this week. I won't know until I get the reviews written up for the books (7 of them so far) I've finished and get them penciled into the schedule. Yeah, yeah, I haven't written them yet. I'm a Procrastinating Pisces. What can I say?
This is AVR News Update signing off.
May all your books enthrall you.

Yeah, right, like I'm listing all those.
I'm still waiting to hear from the author on Soul Survivor why NetGallery isn't loading it for review. I'm jealous! :)
ReplyDeleteI've been having trouble downloading books from NetGalley too. Good luck!
DeleteDon't be jelly girlfriend! I'm sure it'll get straightened out and you'll have it in your hot little hands. I mean, Renfield. ;)
DeleteAnd NetGalley sometimes PMSs, but it usually gets fixed fairly quickly.
Looks like a good week ahead...enjoy your new books. Love the Sweet Sixteen photo...the backdrop is lovely, too.
ReplyDeleteHere's MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES
I'm hoping it's a good week. :) The picture was taken on our back deck. We live in the woods. :)
DeleteReading your post I can't help but think: so many books, so little time. Happy reading...and reviewing!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Sunday post: http://www.bookclublibrarian.com/2013/09/sundays-weekly-book-recap-35.html
I know, right?! I need more hours in the day! :D
DeleteMost of the covers look a bit too romancey or erotic for my reading tastes but I hope you enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteI tend to lean towards romance and erotica, but I like paranormal and suspense, too. Well, and many other genres, to be honest. LOL :)
DeleteI'm a blood and guts horror and UF action girl! The more monsters, the more I love it! *giggles*
DeleteI've only just discovered horror. Something I never thought I'd read. lol
DeleteHappy belated birthday to your daughter! You definitely got a ton of books this week! I've been wanting to join a few tours but with the way I'm procrastinating I can barely entertain the idea.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy everything and have a good week!
I've done Red Adept tours all year, but there's usually only 1 or 2 a month and I get the ARCs in plenty of time, so they're doable. These others are in November, so I have time to get them done, too.
DeleteThanks! :)
Aw! That was such a sweet thing for your son to do for your daughter. So many books! I love what you got from audible. The Jason Mott books look interesting. It's free so I might get them! Thanks (:
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and fun reading!
It was! My kids are actually pretty good kids even if they get on my nerves occasionally. :)
DeleteI figured I couldn't go wrong with free and they're not very long. :)
Awe, glad you daughter had a good birthday. Enjoy all the new books. Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by earlier.
Jenea @ Books Live Forever's Sunday Post
Thanks and I hope I do. *fingers crossed* :)
DeleteHappy 16th to your daughter! I hope you get to go to the beach (even though I'm insanely jealous). Great haul - I have Soul Survivor on my TBR (the cover grabbed my attention) but I still need to read #1. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks and us, too! :)
DeleteI have Soul Stripper from NetGalley. I just need to get to it. Soon. Soon. ;)
Happy Birthday to your daughter! You got lots of great books. Have a great reading week!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I did and I hope to have a great reading week. *fingers crossed*
DeleteSo many books! How will you get them all read? :D
ReplyDeleteThat was sweet of your son; I hope your daughter had a great day. :)
Happy reading!
I have no clue. LOL I'll get to them all, but it'll take some time.
DeleteThank you. She did. :)
Amazing haul! Here is what caught my eye- No Escape, Unspeakable, Quarantine, and Never Desire a Duke.
ReplyDeleteI am curious about the Christmas book..of course I am a sucker for all things theme related but the anything for a dollar made me ill..i hope he is just a naked model. LOL Sweet Sixteen is special and what a wonderful brother..you should be proud mama!
I knew you'd spot the Christmas book, but the one I really thought would catch your eye was Braineater Jones since it's a zombie book. lol Anything for a Dollar sounded intriguing and it's an anthology. I do like anthologies.
DeleteI am proud of him. My daughter did say she expected the card in the flowers to say 'Happy Birthday Beavis' since that's what they call each other. LOL
Hope you continue to enjoy your vacay and good luck with the beach, hope you guys make it out there!
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying it, but I have to say I'm starting to get a bit anxious, wanting to step up the posts. I don't have enough content stashed back though, so I have to put the brakes on. lol
DeleteDramatic book covers. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThey are! This week's haul has been interesting. :)
DeleteAwww, that's a good boy. You raised him right. :) And Happy birthday to your daughter. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great time with the tours, and a great week this week. :)
I did my best. :) Thank you!
DeleteFirst time working with someone else on tours, so I hope all goes smoothly. :)
Nice haul. I've read and reviewed The Mine from John A. Heldt, it's an interesting read. I've read all of his books so far. At the moment I'm reading his latest book called The Fire, his books get better each time.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week.
Sharon
I thought The Mine sounded interesting. If I like it there may be more for review. Glad you enjoyed them. :)
DeleteEnjoy the Vacation.... wish I could find time away!
ReplyDeleteAwesome book haul! So many books.... where will you find the time?
Thanx for visiting My Weekly Wrap-Up!
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
I hope the weather is nice and that we enjoy the trip. But, the beach! How could we not? lol I have no clue when I'll find the time, but I will. Somehow. :)
DeleteEnjoy your vacation! What a great book haul! I reviewed Never Desire a Duke by Lily Dalton last week and loved it. I hope you enjoy it and the Jason Mott e-books did you read The Returned? It was fantastic as was Poison Study.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my Sunday Post this week!
- Kimberly @ Turning the Pages
Thank you!
DeleteI hope I enjoy it too. I haven't listened to the Mott books yet. I saw them on Audible for free, so decided to get them for my Walking on Weds with Audios reviews. It'll be a bit before I get to them. I've read Poison Study though and loved it. All of them actually. I got the audio to listen with the kids. I think they'll like it.
Enjoy your vacations!
ReplyDeleteI love the Study series so I hope you enjoy it as well!! :D
I just got The Returned for review so I am going to read that before checking out the prequels.
Great Haul and Enjoy your books! :)
-Rashika @ Tangled in Pages
I love the Study series, too! I thought my kids would like Poison Study, so I picked it up. I hope they do.
DeleteI hadn't heard of Jason Mott before I picked up the audios. I hope I like them. :)
I enjoyed Poison Study and hope you do too
ReplyDeleteI loved Poison Study! I picked up the audio to see if my kids would like it, too. I hope they do since I loved it so much. :)
DeleteThat is one fine haul. The Never Desire a Duke looks interesting with a married couple falling in love again. Enjoy your vacay. Mine starts in four days.
ReplyDeleteVilia @ Backchatting Books
It turned out to be a large haul week. lol I'm hoping Never Desire A Duke is as good as it sounds. :)
DeleteEnjoy your vacay!
Wow! Awesome haul. Have an awesome week! Thanks for stopping by my Sunday Post
ReplyDeleteThanks and you're welcome! Thanks for the return visit. :)
Delete"Freebies from Amazon. Yeah, right, like I'm listing all those."
ReplyDeleteThat made me laugh out loud! Oh, I think we all know the allure of the Kindle freebies...
Sounds like you've had a terrific week. Happy birthday to your daughter, and congratulations on raising both a lovely daughter and a son who is thoughtful enough to make her birthday special.
Enjoy all your new books and have a terrific week!
hehe Those freebies *are* hard to resist. ;)
DeleteIt's been pretty good and thank you. I'm quite proud of them. :)
Thanks and you, too!
I know.. I totally suck. It has taken me SIX DAYS to get over here and say hi. Can you forgive me? ;)
ReplyDeleteYou had quite the haul last week! I'm fairly jealous of some of those books you grabbed. I hope your week has been super awesome!
Nonsense! You don't suck! :)
DeleteMy week has been fairly productive. Thanks! :)
