Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front
Sunday ~ Everything is a mess outside. Just stayed in and puttered around.
Monday ~ No work for Anna and Kyle. The drive is a total slickspot. Ice has formed on top of the snow. Very slippery! Pigs in a blanket for dinner.
Tuesday ~ 2 hour work delay for Anna and Kyle. However, Anna's car would not go up the drive. The canopy covering the Kubota is completely trashed. Kyle said he's going to pay to build an equipment shed, so I sent out an email to Fogleman & Associates for a quote. We cleared the canopy off the Kubota and Kyle started scraping the drive. Anna, Trip, and I cleared the snow and ice off the other canopies and the dog kennel. Then I had Kyle give me a lift up the drive to clear the Pilot. Once that was done, I drove down, got my chain, and towed Anna's Civic up the drive so she could park on the road. The neighbor across the street had cleared the road with his tractor so she had a clear spot to park. Luckily, we're the last house on our road. Fed the critters. Made 3 lbs of bacon. Anna had a BLT for dinner and I made sausage egg biscuits for the rest of us.
Wednesday ~ Worked on blog and computer stuff then went outside to clear more of the drive and around the house. It is very very slippery out there. Especially since our land slopes so much. Anna and Kyle went to work and walked back down afterwards. Leftovers for dinner.
Thursday ~ Worked on the computer for awhile then Trip and I went to get groceries and pick up prescriptions. Very cold out and windy. Played some Pokemon. Carrying the groceries in was a treat on the slippery shit out there. I parked as close to the ramp as I could. No falls. Yay! I drove up to pick up Anna and Kyle when they got home from work since I asked them to stop at Harbor Freight to pick up a tarp for the Kubota, a 5 gallon gas can, and a propane torch. They were out of the torch that I wanted. It's main use is to burn weeds but works on ice. I really wanted one of those for around the steps and ramp. Boo.
Friday ~ Trip and I went to fill the 5 gallon can and play some Pokemon. Came home and covered the Kubota with the new tarp, fed the critters, went under the house to reconnect the dehumidifier to my phone (what a pita), and had Trip bring more wood up to the deck and the ash can to the front porch. I'll eventually put it on the back deck, but it was out front already, so front porch it is. I did all of my First Weekend of the Month cleaning as well as the usual Saturday cleaning since the forecast was pretty sure we'd get snow. Made a chicken in Dutch oven with carrots and baby potatoes.
Saturday ~ Snow! Snow started around 5am. It is now 8pm and it has not let up for a single second. I'm going to guess that we have close to 10" out there and it's supposed to keep this up for another couple of hours. Anna and I have fed the birds twice. We put an old card table out and covered it with my paint sheets so they would have a place to eat without the snow covering it either just from snowing or blowing over it as the wind has been very gusty today. We have had so many birds! Word must have gotten out that there's food. lol I love watching them from the kitchen window. They take shelter under Kyle's car then hop down quick, grab food, and practically run back under his car. There must have been at least a dozen doing that all day long. We've seen many types: chickadee, nuthatch, titmouse, cardinal, junco, doves, crow, woodpeckers, and several types of finches. There were two all black birds out there we couldn't identify. Maybe red-wing black birds. With all the snow and through the screen it was hard to tell if their wings were marked. There was one squirrel running around noshing on the peanuts. I wonder where the rest of them were? I made cookies, brookies, brownies, and banana bread. The house smells delicious. lol I had leftovers for dinner. I don't know what the kids ate. I was trying to get a fire going in the wood burning stove. Apparently there's a learning curve. I was a Master of the fireplace, but the stove vexes me.
Today Sledding!! *does dance*
Touching Nature: COLD! The snow/sleet/ice that we got last weekend isn't melting much as we barely made it to 32ºF all week. And whatever melted during the day, froze again overnight. Actual fluffy snow started Saturday around 5am. A rarity in NC to have back-to-back winter events happen.
Book News: Read another book and wrote the review. Started another book. On a minor roll here.
Don't Touch That Dial!: Came to the episode of Bones that introduces that twat Pelant, so I'm done watching Bones. Watching Lucifer (again) for the time being.
At the Flicks: Nope.
Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, the Finch app - if anyone wants to be friends just let me know.
Randomness: I found the John Holmes of baby carrots. IYKYK 🤣

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Fresh baked brownies taste better on a cold snowy day.
