Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front
Sunday ~ I was going to putter around and read since it was cold and rainy, but then I decided to wash a giant load of towels. That led to tidying up Kyle's room a bit and pulling the two white 9-cubes out and putting in the brownish-gray one. And moving two 3-cubes out to the craft are. Which is still a giant mess. Ugh. That led to me putting my gaming chair together. Once I got it out of the box, Trip helped me. So I helped put his together. Before we finished that it started snowing. Very wet snow, but snow all the same. Pretty! Anyway, once the chairs were together I hooked all my stuff up to my gaming computer and fired it up. Wow. My monitor is huge. lmao And my computer has such pretty lights! When my eldest spawn made it, I said I wanted pretty lights and boy did he deliver. A+++++ I had some issues with Microsoft and forgetting my pin, but we got it sorted and I got Chrome synced to it. Then Anna came out to the kitchen. She turned to look over our way and said, "Jesus mama. That monitor is huge." Bwahahaha! Then my headphones weren't working, so the boys took over messing with it as well as downloading Steam, so I went to do something else. lol It stopped snowing. Boo! And it didn't stick around because of all the previous rain. It just turned to slush. Bleck. I had Texas Roadhouse leftovers while watching a Bones episode then read a book. Went to bed after midnight. That is seriously past my bedtime.
Monday ~ Up after 9am. It's Martin Luther King Day and a holiday here. Anna and Kyle are off. I did some blog related stuff then said I'd pick up Biscuitville if Kyle was buying. Of course he agreed. He loves some Biscuitville. lol I folded the towels that got washed yesterday then did some more blog stuff. Trip took the cans up the drive for pick up tomorrow. Since it's recycling week we should be able to finally get the rest of the boxes and stuff off the porch tomorrow. Yay! We managed to treat the cats with their flea and tick stuff. Boy, how they hate that. Even with extra treats distracting them. The boys have been playing Left for Dead for days. Well, not most of Saturday because of the grandkiddos being here, but otherwise they've been glued to their computers. lol Leftovers for dinner.
Tuesday ~ I had some calls to make then I woke Trip up to run some errands. We hit the pet store, Lowe's, TSC, BJ's (gas and store), PetSmart, and had lunch at Smithfield's. Ordered fried chicken to take home for dinner. Fed the critters. While I took a shower, Trip broke down most of the recycling on the porch now that the cans are empty. Watched some Bones in the evening.
Wednesday ~ Sent some emails out, but mostly worked on the blog. Wrote 4 reviews. Did some laundry. Apparently we have a Major Winter Event coming this weekend with Freezing Rain forecasted (that's the absolute worst thing to get), so I planned what to get ready tomorrow. Put some pizzas in the oven for dinner.
Thursday ~ After doing the morning furry routine, Trip and I headed out to fill the gas and diesel cans (I have a full kerosene can), pick up prescriptions, and get a few things at Food Lion. Wow. What a madhouse. I needed taco fixings which I got and yogurt as well as some odds and ends, but they were out of the organic milk we like. So I had to settle for Food Lion 1%. Ugh. They did have plenty of milk though. They had several people restocking so that didn't help with aisle traffic. lol We decided to have some Biscuitville since we were heading home to put away groceries then work on building my firewood rack on the back deck. It was a bit of a pain because the wood we pulled from under the house was a bit twisted. Kinda like my soul. Ha! Anyway, we managed to manhandle it together with the brackets I bought online at Lehman's then stocked it with the smallest pieces we could find of all the considerable amount of firewood we have that only just occurred to me is cut to fit a fireplace and not my new small wood burning stove. Ah, fuuuuuuuck. So, that's something to be added to my long list of things to do: cut down the pieces to fit. Trip brought one of my trashcans that we use for pinecones (and added some sticks - great fire starters) up to the back deck. I just need to read up on the stove before we actually use it. The generator is full and so are my 2 cans. The tractor is full and so is the diesel can. We have the grill and an extra propane tank. And, if worst comes to worst, I also have a camp stove & an extra burner and 1 lb propane for that. We are as ready as we'll ever be, I guess.
Friday ~ Up with the 8am alarm. Fed the furries, walked the dogs, had breakfast then started laundry, folded my clothes, folded 3 loads of towels, changed the linens on my bed, had Trip help me spin the mattress 180º (what a pain in the ass because I have too much stuff in my bedroom and my mattress is heavy), showered then worked on the computer while switching out laundry loads. My Chewy order came. Anna dropped Kyle off at a doctor appointment down the road and I went to wait for him in the parking lot. He tested positive for Flu B. Oh. Yay. Made cookies. Anna had a DoorDash delivery from DJ in Alaska for dinner. The boys ate the leftover tacos. I had soup. Went to bed way past my bedtime. Nearly midnight. Oops.
Saturday ~ Up after 9:00 because the dogs went to bed after 11pm. After doing the morning routine I ran to CVS to pick up prescriptions. Came home and browned 2.5 lbs of hamburger. Put half in a pot of chili and the other half in a lasagna. The boys brought the kerosene heaters and can to the front porch and put the gas cans under Anna's addition since it's by the generator. The boys helped me cover the front of the cars with my paint sheets so we won't have to use an ice pick to scrape the freezing rain off when all this is over. Anna and I fed the critters. I cleaned the laundry room, Kyle did the litterboxes, and I started a load of pet blankets and pads to wash. Got done just in time to change my clothes and head out with Trip to watch the Greensboro Gargoyles. The 7pm game was changed to 2pm due to the incoming Winter Storm. Got there in time, walked in (holy fuck is that wind nasty, sooooo cold!), grabbed some merch then found our seats. After the 1st period we got some food then proceeded to watch them lose 1-4. Booo. Got some more merch, hit the bathroom, and headed out to the parking lot. 20º feels like 8º. That wind! Wow. Throwback to when I grew up in Ohio. lol We were like one of the very last people to leave. lmao Shouldn't have been surprised. With the incoming storm and the time change, the coliseum wasn't very full. Parked up the drive, covered the front of the Pilot with another one of my painting sheets, and walked down to the house. Fed the dogs, warmed up the lasagna, did the dishes, and ate dinner while watching a Bones. The next episode is where Vincent dies. I hate that episode. In any case, I stopped at 8pm to work on this post. The freezing rain just started. I have a strong feeling we'll lose power, but maybe that won't happen until daylight. We'll see. I really don't understand why power lines aren't underground. It's not like we get earthquakes. Stupid fucking cheap ass Duke Energy. For the price we're paying you'd think they'd start burying instead of replacing poles. Ugh. Anyway, back to finishing this post.
Today All depends on the weather. We have a generator in case the power goes out, but not a big supply of gas. The generator is full and we have 10 gallons. I hope that's enough for a couple of days. We might not be able to run the heat pump, but we won't know. Everything is new so I guess we'll be finding out.
New Year's Resolutions/Goals
I thought I'd keep a weekly record of these so I can see if anything is getting done. 😆
More reading, less tv ~ I got 2 books done. Yay!
Go back to the beginning and revamp old blog posts ~ Nothing this week.
Exercise ~ No. lol
Tidy up outside ~ Fed the critters. Prepped for the Winter Storm.
Sort through everything (keep, donate, recycle, trash) ~ I haven't sorted anything this week. Been quite lazy.
Touching Nature: Cold then colder then holy shit, I'm freezing my titties off.
Book News: Finished 2 books. Yay! Wrote 7 reviews. Double yay!
Don't Touch That Dial!: Some Bones.
At the Flicks: Nope.
Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, the Finch app - if anyone wants to be friends just let me know.
Randomness: 🤣
Randomness: 🤣
Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Never ever EVER use hot water to thaw your car windows when they are iced over. That's an excellent way to break the glass. I wouldn't even use warm water. Cold water will soften it enough to scrape, but I would just start the car and turn on the defrosters. You can use warm water to get the door open if it's frozen shut. Just do NOT get it on your window.
That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.
Oh, and FUCK ICE!
Chirp
