Hello and Happy Sunday!

I completely forgot my Blogoversary was last Sunday!
Happy 14th Year to me!

It's on a Friday this year. The grandkiddos are very happy about that. lol

On the Home Front

Sunday ~ Anna and I did some shopping. I wanted some new anti-fatigue mats for the kitchen and despite looking at Lowe's and Kohl's I found nothing. Well, Lowe's did have literally a couple except they were butt-ugly, so 🤷.

Monday ~ I finished taking down a few shelves in the laundry room before Andrew and Hunter demo'd it. Thomas (plumber) stopped by to do his part and we discovered an issue that required more work than anticipated. Not a leak, but an original building fuck up because this house is a gift that keeps on giving. Anyway, Thomas was kind enough to go ahead and do the extra work that I approved even though it took him hours longer. Such a nice guy! And it looks fantastic! Later in the day the kitchen faucet pressure was down. Like, waaaaaay down. I checked the other faucets and they were good. So I messed around with it, but it's brand new and a pull down, so I had no idea how to check to see if junk got in it to block it. I figured I'd just tell Hunter in the morning. Then Kyle went to lock the patio door and it wouldn't catch. Wtf. It worked last night. We fiddled with it for awhile then gave up. Another thing to tell Hunter. Andy was supposed to come in the morning to do cabinets, but didn't show up until about 2:00. He, his brother, and his dad got straight to work installing drawer hardware, etc. Then left before 5:00.

Tuesday ~ Quiet morning, but a busy afternoon here. Electricians, Tim and Josh, came to do their thing in the laundry room. Andy and his dad were back working on the cabinets. Raul came by to see what was needed for tomorrow. Hunter fixed the lock on my patio door. Thomas came by to see why my kitchen faucet was only dribbling water. It was plugged with stuff, he showed me how to take it apart and even left me his little tool to do it since my faucet didn't come with one. Seriously, he's such a nice guy. Nancy stopped by to do the dogs' nails. Whew! Busy, busy! In the morning, after I had worked on the computer for awhile, I went to my bedroom and found that Eevee had barfed twice on the floor, but also twice on my bed. My.Bed! Again! She's done this before and really, it just pisses me off. She has the whole floor, bathroom floor, and even the bathroom rugs for fuck's sake. #WhyMyBed?! Especially now that I am out a washer and dryer until next week. Gah! So I got to Googling and discovered that Chewy has a cover specifically for beds/furniture just for this occasion (and if your pet has bladder issues), so that should be here in a few days. As long as I remember to put it on the bed, the problem is solved. Anyway, I folded approximately 1 million towels I had washed over the weekend. Then after the dogs were put to bed and I could open my office and bedroom door for Eevee, Trip and I took all the boxes out of my garden tub and put them in the new computer area. They're all kitchen stuff, so not only are they out of my bathroom now, but I can start unpacking them. Just need to get the boxes out of the pod tomorrow.

Wednesday ~ Miguel (Raul's guy) showed up around 8:30 to get started on the laundry room. He scraped the popcorn ceiling and pulled all the wallboard trim pieces down. Then cut drywall to patch a few areas from the plumbing redo. Andy came back to do the finish up and now it's all done except my potato/onion drawer. He's still waiting for the mesh to put in the front of it.

Thursday ~ Andrew was here knocking small things off the To Do List. He also replaced some of the subfloor in the laundry room where the old plumbing was under the sink (Thomas was able to do move it to the wall) and in the corner where, over the years, Sugarcube had peed outside the litterbox (until I started using washable pee pads and towels) and it was stained and gross. Rico was here to do the mudding of the laundry room. Trip and I got the all the kitchen boxes out of the pod. Trip went to his very first concert, a metal band called In This Moment, so I dropped him off at the Greensboro Coliseum at 5:30 then came home to start making tacos. This was not one of my better ideas as I had not unpacked much of anything at this point. I thought: I just need my frying pan and my cheese grater. Wrong. I needed so many other little things. So I had to dig through boxes looking for stuff. It was a lesson in frustration. Anyway, Anna went to Kyleigh's make-up soccer game only to get there and find out the other team didn't show up. And they didn't tell anyone they were not showing up. Rude! She made it home in time for the tacos to be done. After cleaning everything up it was just a matter of waiting for Trip's text that the concert was over. Which came at 11pm. Ugh. So much past my bedtime. After picking him up I finally got to bed after midnight.

Friday ~ Andrew and Hunter brought back our 4'x8' magnetic white board minus the ugly metal frame and tray that had sharp corners. They mounted it back where it was then Andrew trimmed it and it looks nice! Then Andrew continued to work on the To Do List of endless small things. Raul's guys showed up in the afternoon to do the sanding and some more mudding and painting of the laundry room. Trip and I picked up the grandkiddos, minus one, for an overnight. They were so surprised at the changes. Trip's bed was delivered. Kyle brought tamales home from work and I made some popcorn chicken for the grandkiddos. I worked putting things away, but there's just so much.

The huge magnetic white board (except it had an ugly metal frame) we got for free from the wasband's former job many many years ago. It was in a conference room they were redoing and were going to throw  it away. I took all the seats out of the old Pontiac Montana (the white one not the silver one - long story) and picked it up before it got ruined. The kids loved it and now the grandkids love it. Of course, it was covered in magnets, misc stuff, and drawings. It hasn't been this clean and clear of stuff since we first mounted it. lmao
I just need to find where I put the markers for it.

Saturday ~ Miguel worked on the laundry room until 4:00. He also painted the trim around the white board and painted the front door. Everything is looking so spiffy! Anna and Trip took Kyleigh (and Oliver) to her soccer tournament at noon. They came home between games then went back. Kyleigh's team won! 🎉 FedEx dropped off Kyle's bed, 3 bookcases, and 4 desks. I wonder how much the contractor would charge me to put the desks and bookcases together for me? 🤔 Stayed up with Anna waaaaay too late (after midnight) watching Dr. Mike critique The Pitt. I worked putting more things away and managed to knock out some boxes. Slowly getting there. AS much storage as I created I'm wondering if it's enough. lmao Ok, it will be when I get rid of stuff that we don't need or use. We put the microwave in the pantry to get it off my counter, but I'm thinking it takes up too much space that I need for foodstuffs. So, I think I'll move it to the corner of my counter and set it diagonal.

Today Got up around 9:30. Such a late start, but we put the dogs to bed at 11 so I don't feel bad about it. I do feel like crap for staying up and disrupting my usual routine. Getting older sucks. lol I'm going to continue putting things away. I need to get the boxes out of the computer area so the desks and bookcases can be put together. And I'm fairly certain I'm going to move my microwave to the counter. Here's some current pics of how we're living at the moment. Excuse the mess. lol

Boxes of kitchen stuff, 1 box of stuff for the laundry room, 2 boxes of junk I need to sort through,  2 boxes of rugs etc, and the boxes of the new furniture.

Partial view of freezer to the very left and the coolers I use to empty it.
Laundry room cabinets on the right.
Down the middle, boxes of food, a couple with glassware etc, and a box of cookbooks.

A Month With No Kitchen ~ Renovations started 9/15. We have a grill, toaster oven, microwave, and a plethora of take out options.

Week of 10/20
Monday ~ Wendy's
Tuesday ~ Dairy Queen
Wednesday ~ Red Robin
Thursday ~ Made tacos
Friday ~ Tamales that Kyle got from a co-worker's mom, popcorn chicken for grandkiddos
Saturday ~ Mississippi Pot Roast
Sunday ~ leftovers

Construction News ~ Andrew and Larry are going to set the laundry room cabinets for Andy on Monday. There may be some painting to do before they do that, but I looked and it seems finished to me. Then I think the flooring guys are coming Tuesday. If so then Tuesday afternoon Andrew and Larry or Hunter will move my washer and dryer back in as long as the base and shoe moulding have been painted. I think the template for the counter will be done also. Then maybe counter and backsplash on Weds? Not sure. Tim and Thomas will also need to do their thing with electrical and plumbing. Phase II should be done by Friday. Unless Andy can't make it out to put the doors (and one drawer) on the cabinets.

Touching Nature:  Typical Fall weather. Getting a bit chilly at night, but warming to the upper 60s/70s during the day.

Book News:  Nothing to report here. I am so fucking far behind on everything. I'm not even listening to audios at the moment because Anna is driving Kyle back and forth to work.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Not much of anything. Just watching some of Anna's YouTube subscriptions while I ate, like Dr. Mike and Girl with the Dogs.

At the Flicks: Nope.

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, the Finch app - if anyone wants to be friends just let me know.

Randomness:   Is it safe to do this so close to Halloween? Eh, fuck it. Let's do it!

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: I'm too tired for wisdom this week. lol

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

So...here's the thing. Again.
Between last week's binge and this week's stress buying,
I'm now looking at 48 new audiobooks. Eeeek!
I only spent about $200 though, so yay for freebies and sales!
I'm going to try not to stress buy from now on though.

Anyway, I'll try to link them next week. Or find an easier way to share them.
