Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front

Sunday ~ Babied my right heel so I only did some laundry and a bunch of other small stuff. I did not get to read. I did order Smithfields fried chicken for dinner because I was too tired from everything else (especially all the Saturday cleaning) to cook anything.

Monday ~ Had a follow up podiatrist appt for my plantar fasciitis. He said the heel looks much better, but I told him it doesn't really feel better. He gave me another cortisone shot and said to keep wearing the brace and shoes in the house (oops I haven't been doing the shoe thing because I hate shoes in the house even ones that have never been outside) and instead of Meloxicam I'm using ibuprofen again except doing 800mg every 8 hrs or so to get rid of the rest of the inflammation. He said if it's not significantly better in 6 weeks then I'll need an MRI on the heel to see if I've torn it. So I guess I better start behaving in regards to it. Wear the brace and inside shoes, get new shoes with better support, ice it, and stretch it. I'm no stranger to the treatment since I had the condition in both feet (closer to the arch than the heel) for a few years before I finally had surgery in 2003. I know losing weight will help a lot, but that's not going to happen until the stress of renovations is over and I have a brand new kitchen to make heathy meals. The drywallers were in to do the drywall. They are beginning to look like actual rooms! Had to "chat" again with Verizon about being triple billed for Netflix. Got that fixed (supposedly again) and got a few more discounts. We'll see how it goes before I start asking T-Mobile about their prices.

Tuesday ~ The drywall finisher, Rigo, was here to mud the drywall. He worked until 7. Wow. The boards were delivered for the front porch and the contractor's guys (Andrew and Larry) were here in the afternoon to get started on the floor boards. Worked on the computer getting caught up on blog related stuff. Hurricanes played Game 1 and got spanked by the Florida Panthers. Ouch.

Wednesday ~ Artemis had a vet appointment to check her eye pressures and do a wellness. She also got a lepto shot. Her pressures were good. Yay! Andrew and Larry were back to continue working on the porch and Rigo was back to do a second mudding of the drywall. Andrew and Larry finished the porch floorboards and started on the support posts. Worked more on the computer and ordered Smithfields fried chicken again. This time they screwed up my order and I had to go back to get dark meat. They gave me extra meat and hush puppies for their mistake. Wow! We'll have chicken through Friday! I worked on emails and other household computer crap.

Thursday ~ Dropped some paperwork off at Trip's psych to fill out so he can stay on his dad's insurance after he turns 26 next month because even though he has Medicaid, we all know what's happening with that right now. Fucking Felon47 and his billionaire assholes. Anyway, then we worked outside. Moved some scrap wood I kept from the renovations, cleaned the bird bath, made new nectar for the Tiny Patrons, then I mowed while Trip did the weedeating. Right heel killing me again. Showered before heading out to pick up Kyle. Andrew and Larry finished the support posts and nearly finished the ramp. Hurricanes are blowing this series against Florida. WTF

Friday ~ Trip and I had DMV app'ts and wow. The line was unreal. Glad we scheduled 3 months ago. Ffs, the DMV is so ridiculous. Then we dropped some shit off at the wasband's place. After that we commenced our shopping. Harbor Freight, Lowe's, the car wash, Academy Sports, Kohl's (shoes for me per podiatrist, shorts for Trip), BJ's, Waffle House, ACE Hardware, and O'Reilly's. Got home in time to put away the perishables before heading back out to pick up Kyle at work. Got home and Nancy was waiting to do the dog's nails. Whew. What a busy day. My right heel is killing me. Ugh. Andrew and Larry finished the ramp and did all of the porch rails and pickets. YAY! It looks like a porch! Vinyl guys and electricians will need to finish their portion (and the gutters, too) then I think all that's left is the painting. I think I'll paint posts and rails white and stain the floorboards a black walnut. I'll need to make a run to Lowe's to look at their stains. I'm also going to have the guys build me flower boxes on either side of the step. I just need a bit more dirt on the left to build it up then I'll rake it out. I probably should do that tomorrow before we get the rain that shows in the forecast. Rigo was back for the 3rd mudding.

Saturday ~ Anna and I went to a store in town to check out their furniture since they have a going out of business sign. Ended up with 2 King-sized pillows for my bed that say they stay cool. We'll see tonight. Stopped at Lowe's to pick up a sample-sized stain to try on some scrap wood for the porch floorboards. Once home Anna and I dug out 2 of the porch chairs, 2 tables, and Mr. Puggles' crate to use for Rocky who has been roaming the house eating poop out of the litterbox then shitting on my floor. So, no more freedom for him. However, that crate is too large. I did wash everything down though because even though it was under the canopy, it still got gross with pollen and stuff. We'll break down Mr. Puggles' crate and store it. Just as Anna and Trip were leaving to go to Oliver's 5th birthday party, Rigo came to do the sanding. I started cleaning the 3 windows on the porch then did the door. Everything outside is nice and clean again now that I can reach them. After that, instead of the usual Saturday cleaning, I started in on the last of the stuff in the cabinets where the boys used to game. Nearly every bit of that was the wasband's stuff. Mostly stuff from when he was in school for Computer Science and a bunch of Linux, Wired, and PC magazines. Recycled a bunch of it only for Anna to rescue a small stack of magazines. lol Just need to have the boys move the cabinets out to the pod and a couple of boxes tomorrow. While Anna and Trip were at April's house for Oliver's party, April said she found out their grandpa had died the day before. That was something my SIL did not message me about. Actually, she didn't message any of the grandkids (April found out on Facebook for fucks sake that her grandpa had died) and while I know she and my wasband do not get along, she didn't bother to tell him either. I'm glad I'm not involved in their family drama any more. Also, my FIL was not someone we were close to. He was a racist, bigot, and homophobe who wholeheartedly believed in ridiculous conspiracy theories, and, last I heard, thought Felon47 was a great man. So, yeah. Whatever. Anna is upset because family means a lot to her (he was their last grandparent) even when the members are shitty, but the boys are indifferent. Sorry. I just can't dredge up any tears considering the things I know about him. Anyway...

Today I plan to hit Food Lion early for some hamburger patties since Kyle, The Grillmaster, says he will grill burgers, hot dogs, and brats for Memorial Day. I'll do the cleaning that didn't get done yesterday and do a fuck ton of laundry. That's about it. I hope. I should probably get the Kubota out and drop some sand out front and find some more dirt.

Construction News ~ Since the drywall has been sanded, I think the next step is for the guys to do the trimming. And possibly the painting. The wood burning stove needs the platform built and the stones adhered to the wall behind it before it can be installed. We're going to recycle the ones from my fireplace. Hopefully they'll all come off without breaking any. The cabinet guy is building our built-ins. Those will have to go in before the floor, which is last. I think the contractor is going set the patio door and Anna's window so the vinyl guys can come do the siding and gutters. However, the forecast is showing rain all week, so 🤷 I'll start packing up the living room and anything else I can box up while waiting for Anna's room to be finished and we can start moving her stuff back in thus leaving room in the pod for the living room stuff and then all the kitchen stuff that's not food. I'll just have to put all of the foodstuffs in the new living room when it's done. We'll be playing musical crap between rooms and pod. lol

Touching Nature: It was a very nice Spring week. Worked outside Thursday which was probably the hottest day. Oops. lol

Book News: I got nothing'.

Don't Touch That Dial!: I watched Star Wars: The Phantom Menace one day this week because I was tired and didn't care if I fell asleep. Otherwise, Anna made me watch some of her YouTube subscriptions. But only the ones I like. lol

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles, the Finch app - is anyone wants to be friends just let me know.

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: How did I go all these years and not know I should be washing my face in the morning? I read that we should because we drool at night and shed skin cells and possibly have oily skin and we roll around on our pillowcases getting that shit all over our face. Now that you have that disturbing image fixed firmly in your mind, wash your face in the morning. lol I use an Amish soap in the morning and before bed I use a sulfur soap from Palmer's. I really like them and they are gentle on my rosacea.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Well you are making great progress on the house and all the rest even if it is tiring. It's very exciting. I hope you can do some indoor stuff or take a break with the rain for a few days this week.
