Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front
Sunday ~ Got word that the septic and footers guy would come Tuesday instead of Monday so the tree guy was coming Monday. We moved all of the bird feeders, blocks, rocks, and various frappus out of the way. Whew! So glad the kids pitch in when needed because that would have taken me awhile to do by myself. Though they live here so why should I do anything by myself, amirite?
Monday ~ Tree guy came and took out 3 trees then ground down the stumps. Now I can start planning how to do that area and research apple trees. My birds would probably like their feeders back where they belong, too.
Tuesday ~ Septic/footer guy was out to do his thing and found there was an additional problem with the septic. Nothing too drastic, but it made sense to fix while he had everything dug up. Kinda like when you go to the mechanic and you need some engine work and since it's going to have to be torn apart it makes sense to replace the water pump (if it's an older one) while you're there. lol Anyway, while they waited for a truck to come flush the system they finished digging the footers. The footer inspection dude was out and it passed, so the concrete was poured. Then the county health inspector was out to check the septic and it passed. So, yay!
Wednesday ~ Trip and I did the grocery shopping at BJ's and we picked up a fridge water filter at Lowe's. I forgot to get boxes. Oops. We gassed up the Pilot, ran it through the car wash, stopped at the Hallmark store, and B&N. It got up to 80º today. If you recall in a former post I said when they moved the heat pump the freon leaked out. Not their fault. There was a repair last Fall that we knew would only last so long. I guess it decided the time was now. lol But that means we have heat and a fan, but no A/C. The house gets very hot and stuffy because the way it is situated there is no cross breeze. Which doesn't matter because Kyle is allergic to nearly everything Ma Nature invented so we don't open the windows. Except maybe in the winter. It's not been too horrible in the house. I run the fan on the furnace, kick up the ceiling fans to high and keep the front door closed. It's south facing and there is no longer a porch to stop the sun beating down on the front of the house.
Thursday ~ Contractor was out to pin the line for the masons. Guy who makes the trusses came to get measurements. Still waiting for the electrician and Duke Energy to come do the meter box. Still warm at 77º.
Friday ~ Trip and I made a quick run to Food Lion for some items. Jess and I did the laundry room/litterboxes (her turn) and I did my bathroom just leaving the kitchen cleaning for tomorrow afternoon since the grandkiddos are going to be here. Brick, block, and mortar were delivered. Then the mason brought a trailer full of sand to drop off. He said they are aiming to start Monday. Possibly Tuesday. Eeee! Shit is getting really exciting! Picked up Kyle 2 hours early since he decided to take a bit of time off and we stopped to pick up the crab earrings he ordered for his newly pierced ears. He can't wear them for another 5 weeks, but they are just adorable! Trip and I picked up the grandkiddos for a sleepover. When we got home we noticed a new line painted for the underground electric. Maybe that means they are coming early next week? We can only hope. In additional news, Jess & Ellie may have an apartment to move into. Just waiting for approval. Keep your fingers crossed! The house got up to 79º inside. Probably because we had so many bodies at one time. 5 adults and 4 kids can put off a lot of heat apparently. lol We had to break out the box fans to move the air. Luckily temps are supposed to drop for a bit then be 77º again on Wednesday before dipping back down again like a roller coaster. That is not a birthday present I want, but we'll roll with it.
Saturday ~ It sprinkled a bit overnight. Or maybe it was just foggy/misty because everything was wet when I got up. After walking the dogs I took the tarps off the tractor to cover the sand since it's supposed to rain Sunday. Then I took a shovel and fixed the creek where the truck and trailer of sand had to back up. I didn't want any rain running amok more than it already does in this renovation backyard mess. I'm trying to keep it contained and draining in one area. There will be so much cleaning up to do when all this is done. Made everyone (except Anna and Jess who went into work) breakfast. Let the grandkiddos play until after 1:00 before telling them it was time to pick up, get out of their jammies, and ready to go. Trip and I stopped at Food Lion on the way back to get baby red potatoes (scored the last bag!), baby carrots, and some already diced onions (I'll pay for that convenience) so I could cook a whole chicken in my Dutch Oven for dinner. While that was cooking I finished up my usual Saturday cleaning (started yesterday) with the kitchen, vacuumed, folded towels, and did some more laundry.
Today I really want to relax. This next week will hopefully contain a lot of exciting renovation news and my birthday is Wednesday. Smack in the middle of the week. I have already rec'd 2 boxes by FedEx from the eldest spawn in Ohio that I will open Weds. Anna said something about a bundt cake or maybe minis from Nothing Bundt Cake in Burlington for my birthday instead of traditional cake which I'm not all that fond of. The minis are delicious so I hope that's the plan. I would also accept mini cupcakes, regular cupcakes, or even a cake if that's what they want. I will try to do my yearly Day of Reading but it may have to be shifted to another day depending on what's going on. We do have plans for the weekend, but I will not reveal those until next Sunday's Post.
Touching Nature: A bit too warm, but the wind has died down a bit. The forecast is showing a roller coaster of temperatures. If the really hot stuff could hold off until we get the new heat pump that would be fantastic.
Book News: I've got nothing to share here except I am a sucker for a Chirp sale. No regrets. lol
Don't Touch That Dial!: Still watching CSI: NY.
At the Flicks: Nope
Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles, the Finch app - is anyone wants to be friends just let me know.
Randomness: Happy Pie (3/14) Day!

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: If you've been following me for a bit, you know I'm divorcing the wasband. In NC you file legal separation papers (done in October) then live separate for a fucking year before the divorce gets filed with the court and you're free. Anyway, we're still dealing with all the paperwork that involves dissolving a 28 year relationship. It's a lot. There are still things I've forgotten. Like, I realized the Roku account that we've had for a couple of decades (yes, we started with the DVDs by mail) had his email address. I'm telling you, all of this shit is exhausting. So, here's my Nugget of Wisdom: Get yourself a notebook and write all of this shit down. Every account, every payment, every email, every password, for phone, tablet, computer. Keep it in a safe place, like maybe, a safe. Or lockbox. I have a gun safe for my stuff. Even if you are living your happily ever after, what if one of you dies? And your executor needs to do all this without any intimate knowledge of you? Since 3 of my adult kids live with me (my eldest spawn is my executor and lives in Ohio), we set up a family email and everything to do with the household is now linked to it. I think. I may still find something I need to add to it. In any case, they all have the password for it. I still have some organizing to do. It'll all be done when the renovations are done and I have room to breathe again, but at least I'm gathering everything together in one place.
That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

Chirp Freebie Friday got me.
I picked up some freebies (usually first book in the series),
but also got roped into the deeply discounted bundles.
I'm not complaining though. I'm really enjoying having an audiobook collection
that is not tied to Amazon.
Yeager's Law (Read)
Yeager's Mission (Read)
Yeager's Choice (TBR)
I have read these books and they are awesome!
I couldn't pass up the chance at the audiobooks.
Wish Book 3 was in there though.
Other Chirp sale earlier in the week.
Holy smokes, do they have my number or what? LOL
Purchased with a few more credits

Free at time of drafting.
