Hello and Happy Sunday!
On the Home Front: Met with the flooring guy on Tuesday and brought some samples home. We all decided on a color for the laminate. We are so excited to finally ripping out the carpet. 25 yrs is a long time. Ugh. But first, the additions have to be done. I'm doing the same laminate in all the main areas and Anna's room, so we needed to get that picked out.
Wednesday the contractor was out with the electrician and HVAC guy. A plan has been put into place. Just waiting on the county inspector to come out which hopefully will be this week. It's been taking so long because we hit a snag with the plans and they didn't let the contractor know, but it's all been smoothed out now. Found out they are going to demo the back deck and front porch at the same time so they can have the concrete guy out at the same time for footers. We'll have some temporary steps in the front but it will be a pain in the ass for awhile during construction.
Thursday Trip and I did grocery pick up and ran some errands including picking up paint samples to look at next to the flooring sample.
Friday I did the Saturday cleaning as well as the first weekend of the month cleaning. Then it rained hard and we got 2". I will be so glad when we have the new back deck because it will be partially covered and we won't need to worry about doing litterboxes in the rain. Nancy came to do the dogs' nails and everyone but Oscar was a little shithead about it. Then I ran to pick up Ellie, dropped her off for Trip to watch and went to pick up Kyle. We were able to hit the car wash and get the yucky salt off his Civic. He didn't work OT this week so I was up at 5:30 to take him to work. I think I like it better when he works OT. When I have to get up at 4:00 and take him to work, I get home around 5:15. I go back to bed until 8:00 and it seems like I'm not tired during the day versus getting up at 5:30 and no going back to sleep. He works OT this week so I'll compare.
Saturday morning I boxed up as much of the wasband's stuff as I had boxes for then the kids helped load my Pilot up and Anna and I dropped it all off at his new house. He closed on Thursday, so I'm starting to get his stuff out of my house. Once he empties those boxes he can bring them back and we'll fill them up again. Anna and I hit the car wash to get the salt off the Pilot, stopped at Panera for some tasty treats, then picked up Zaxby's for us all for an early dinner.
Today I'd like to just putter around and read. Maybe write up a few reviews to whittle away at them. I'll just wing it. I'm thinking of doing a blog post about all the renovations then just updating it as things move along. Maybe I'll start drafting that today.
Touching Nature: Warming up! Yay! The daffodils have popped their heads back up after that long cold spell. Hopefully there will be no more 20s and teens. Brrrrr! A nice hard rain helped wash off some of the mud, left from having the trees done, from the gravel. We still need to re-dig the creek. Maybe this week? The tree guy is going to mill my oak and drop it off. Maybe this week or next. No big rush.
Book News: Not much to report here, but hopefully will be picking up the reading and reviewing pace soon. I have finished another audiobook though.
Don't Touch That Dial!: Nearly to the last season of Lucifer. Then Anna and I will start listening to audiobooks while we color. I may watch an episode of CSI here and there, but will mostly be concentrating on reading.
At the Flicks: Nope
Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Crossword Jam, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles, the Finch app - is anyone wants to be friends just let me know.
Randomness: Dammit! I wasn't paying attention. Give it back!

Daffodils!!? I've got a long wait for my garden to start producing those. You must live somewhere really warm.

I live in NC. lol The daffodils were poking their heads out as far back as December! Way waaaaayyyy too early. It's ok if they bloom now though. :D
DeleteI haven't planted any daffodils here. The iris will be first other than the winter ones like Hellebores and camellia. I'll be excited to watch your project go along. I hope things go as smoothly as possible for you. At least the weather is better. We are mostly above freezing now, even at night.

I love daffodils. They smell sooooo good. The hyacinths should also be coming up though the squirrels got most of those bulbs and my tulips. I need to get more and put chicken wire down so they can't dig them up. I was going to draft my renovations post yesterday then got side tracked. I'll do it this week! :D
DeleteIt's so cool that you have daffodils! We just have snow. :)
ReplyDeleteThey haven't bloomed yet but it won't be long with this warmer weather. I lived in Ohio for nearly 30 years. I used to miss the snow. I would like to have some for a short time then have it gone. Like, enough to sled down my drive for a day then have it melt away. lol
DeleteI was really shocked to see how badly the salted roads affect the undercarriage of cars in a random YouTube video I watched this week.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy reading week
Oh yeah. Unless your car is coated then it's best to wash that crap off asap. That's why you'll see cars from the north with a lot of rust down low. Keeping them clean helps a lot.
