Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: Last Sunday, after I picked Anna up at the airport, I tore apart my office. Well, the corner where my desk is/was anyway. I boxed up 3 tubs of unread books and each one I was like, awwwww, I want to read you, and you, and you...I'll get to you! I promise! I went through all my unopened mail (it was a lot) and boxed up all the filing I haven't done. Also a lot. Eeek. I'll need to stay on top of that this year. But half of 2022 and all of 2023 was just, well, you all know. Anyway, 2024 is the year to get shit done. I hope. Because big changes are coming in 2025.

So, hubby and I cleaned off the desk, under the desk, and the shelves above the desk. Then we took the shelves down and took apart the desk. The shelves we'll keep and we're going to burn the desk on the brush pile. We've had it for something like 20 yrs and one leg had a crack in it that I accidentally broke when we took it apart so it's not really usable anyway. We got our money's worth so no big deal. After I wiped down the walls and gave the carpet a good vacuum, we put together the desk Kyle bought me for Christmas. Of course, I couldn't put it into place because I needed to get the wood for the shelves. I also bought some felt 12"x12" squares instead of corkboard, so we'll see how that turns out. I'm also waiting for a combo printer stand/filing cabinet that should be here tomorrow.

I've been in office limbo for a week and I'm itching to finish this project. I hate waiting. Ugh! My own fault. Hubby had to work M-T, F-S-S nights and he flew the afternoons of his off days. But Trip and I got the wood on Tuesday, so we're ready to do some cutting, fitting, and, most likely, cursing. Then I can hook up Trip's "old" gaming computer, my new monitor, and start putting all of my other things where I want them. Also? My desk has lights strips! I can't wait to see if they're as cool as the photos.

We had some really cold rain on Tuesday and some almost sleet Weds. morning. Thursday was grocery pick up. I did the Saturday cleaning on Friday because of a cold front coming in and I defrosted the upright freezer on Saturday. I had the boys get me the big coolers and after I filled them I left them on the back deck since it was colder outside than in the freezer. Then I did some blog work and played Pokemon Go since it was Community Day.

I cannot tell you how much I'm looking forward to finishing the office. I have boxes everywhere (well, more boxes since I still have boxes from mom's) and it's really irritating the shit out of me.

Touching Nature: More rain. A bit of wannabe sleet. Some really cold weather, for NC anyway, and some windy days. Other than that, uneventful.

Book News: Nothing. With the office torn apart I haven't even drafted posts or written reviews. Oops. I did write one review. But that's it.

Don't Touch That Dial!:  Bones, Lucifer, Supernatural. I'm all over the place.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles

Randomness:  Bummer.

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Plan ahead. I shouldn't have torn my office apart on a week where my husband works 4 of 7 nights especially since he takes flying lessons in the afternoon of his off days. I should have done it on his 3 of 7. Ah, well. It'll get finished this week.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Well you kept busy and once I want to do a project I'm often on it. I have a pile of 2023 papers to file. I also have barely started the cleaning up the file cabinet and throwing out some stuff. Some stuff will happen along with the tax stuff. I hope this week it gets finished for you because it is so satisfying.
