Hello and Happy Sunday!

Happy 248th Birthday! (11/10)

Veteran's Day
November 11th

On the Home Front: Been a busy week.

Sunday ~ Claimed victory in Battle IV of Leafageddon. Burned a brush pile. Made Mississippi Pot Roast in the Instant Pot. Before that though I boiled eggs then made rice. Instant Pot got quite the workout today.

Monday ~ Hubby and I burned a brush pile in the woods and did not burn down the woods. Whew! We also tidied up the area where Trip and I are going to build more firewood racks.

Tuesday ~ Worked on the blog. Roasted a chicken with baby red potatoes, carrots, and onions in the Dutch Oven.

Wednesday ~ Took Kyle to work then got gas in his car. Tried to get Fall Flavors donuts at Kripsy Kreme but the racks were decimated. Guy said something about a fund raiser wiping them out but should be full again by mid-morning. When I took Anna her meds I stopped in again and they had donuts. So, yay! Picked Kyle up at 1:00. He decided to leave early to get a head start on a long weekend. lol Found out stepson and his wife are expecting baby #2 (grandbaby #5) due June 14th. Trip, whose birthday is the 15th, said: It better not be on my birthday. I'm not sharing. lolol

Thursday ~ Woke up to a flat back tire on the Pilot. Went to plug it and even with 3 plugs (not really supposed to put that many in one hole lolol) it was still leaking so I took it to our mechanics place and my stepson patched it. Then did the grocery pick up. Kyle took the day off. Planted some of the black walnuts, but realized I don't have nearly enough pots. I put 3 nuts per pot to get them started. If they do I'll have to transplant. In any case, I ordered more pots that should be here Saturday. A 5 gallon bucket sure holds a lot of nuts.

Friday ~ Nancy did the dogs' nails. Picked up Marine Corps Birthday cake at BJ's. I think I'll just get the cakes at Food Lion from now on. Then got my Covid booster and flu shot at CVS. Picked up Zaxby's for the kids since hubby is working. Kyle has the day off for Veteran's Day.

Saturday ~ Did the cleaning (and laundry) then helped Anna with her room. She was feeling overwhelmed. We put a good dent in it. Today is the annual neighborhood church BBQ, so I picked up plates and some extra sides. Hubby has to work so he'll have his for lunch tomorrow. I am sooooooo full right now. omg Pots came from Amazon.

Today ~ I really want to begin Battle V of Leafageddon but I think I'll just read and take it easy. Maybe do spaghetti for dinner.

Touching Nature: Upper 70s and low 80s are not November weather. Wtf We were supposed to get some rain and we didn't. We could definitely use some. Burned the brush pile in the woods. Temps will dip to freezing again at night, so I need to make sure to unhook the outside garden hoses. I husked the last 5 gallon bucket of black walnuts. Using 4 gloves helped better than 2, but still have some nasty stains on my right fingers. Ewwww. Then I started planting the nuts in pots. Had to wait until more pots came yesterday, so I'll plant some more Monday.

Book News: I finally feel like reading. Like, I can actually pick up a book and just...read. I did it yesterday for a short while and it felt good. So that's the plan for today.

Don't Touch That Dial!:  Still watching Lucifer. I'm almost done with season 5.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles

Randomness:  Seriously. Fuck, DST.

  1. You had a busy, productive week. I hate that it gets dark around 5! We aren't really getting much rain either. I forgot to unhook the hoses but they seem ok. I unhooked them now. I should still water some of the garden plants. I did the leaves in the front yard for the city leafsucker. Everything was clear. The very next day the tree dropped all the rest of its leaves! The next leaf suck is 22 so I won't blow them into piles on the curb til next week. I might work on the backyard though since those go into piles for compost.

  2. I am tired from just reading about your week. I love a good pot roast, though. Hope the week ahead is good.
