Hello and Happy Sunday!

(image from internet)
Happy Birthday Kyle!

On the Home Front: Another busy week with appointments and shit. I am exhausted. Friday was the only day I didn't need to be anywhere except to take Kyle to work.

Wednesday I got a text that an application to adopt Scrappy came in. The process has begun. The Humane Society talked with her, I talked with her, and next up she'll meet Scrappy. But that won't be until the week of the 16th because she has some things she needs to do. Which is fine. Honestly, I think they will be perfect for each other. She just lost her 12yo dog to cancer and it was sudden. She wasn't even looking for another companion yet, but saw Scrappy on the internet and kept coming back to his pictures. So I think it is meant to be. Keep your fingers crossed!

Thursday morning the closing of the Lots for the online auction of my parents stuff began. It was fascinating to watch the time count down for each lot. Some ended with no further bidding, but others spawned some bidding wars. 4 lots did not sell, so the stuff will be donated. My mom's lift chair went for $0.50. I mean, seriously. Some stuff went insanely high. It was crazy, but people love antiques. Overall we're pleased with the result. We were told there were 86 high bidders (332 Lots) which was really large, but having 332 Lots was also massive. lol Last I heard the auction was the 4th most viewed in Ohio which is just wow.

Friday my sis-in-law sent text updates of the people picking stuff up. There were a lot of trucks and, at times, a traffic jam even though it's literally a farm with lots of land. Just ended up a bottleneck at the entrance where people needed stuff from the house, the shop, and the original barn, at times blocking the way to the big building. She said everyone was nice and she talked with many. Everything seems to be going to good homes which is comforting because this shit is sad as fuck. When she sent the pics of the empty buildings and house, I cried.

Saturday I did the cleaning, made a big pot of chili, and cooked up 5 lbs of frozen chicken breasts in my Instant Pot for the dogs. I shred it, put into containers, and freeze it. My hubby had a flying lesson. Way back in the olden days he flew solo right after he got his driver's license, but life happened and he never got his pilot license. At the age of 55 he has decided now that he has the time (his schedule is 2 on, 2 off, etc) he wants to finish what he started. He's excited. I've made sure the life insurance is paid up. 👍 Saturday was also Kyle's 23rd birthday. We had Texas Roadhouse for dinner (curbside pick up) and cake. My brother said the last big items were picked up and he spent 5 hrs cleaning and tidying up the shop and the big building. Next up: selling the farm. 😭

Today: I think it's supposed to be nice. Hubby and I need to clean out the small shed so we may start on that. He also needs to tune up both chain saws. He should really do that in case a tree comes down. This coming week is his long one where he works M-T F-S-S.

Touching Nature: We are enjoying some gorgeous NC Fall weather. Leafageddon is about to begin in earnest. I've had some leaves come down, but not really enough yet to warrant declaring war. Soon though.

Book News: Still nothing to report here.

Don't Touch That Dial!:  Finished Angel. I'm rewatching Lucifer but really only when I'm eating.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Word Lots, Solitaire, jigsaw puzzles

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: If you have the opportunity, invest in an Instant Pot. You're welcome.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  2. yes it is so sad. But hopefully things will go to others who love them. It was hard with my mom in the lake house. She'd been there 46 years. I'd been getting furniture pieces she wasn't using for years though. I have a ton of family pieces including a bunch of lawyer bookcases. Happy birthday Kyle. I hope Scrappy finds a great home.
