Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front:
  • Sunday - I think I read most of the day. I really should be adding to these posts every morning.
  • Monday - Carter needed the car for his new job so Jess asked me if I could take Ellie to school and pick her up for this last week of school. Eevee had a vet appt for a check up. All good.
  • Tuesday - Hubby had a phone interview with Toyota. They said he'd hear back in 7-10 days. I talked with a financial advisor about his two 401K accounts. The consultation is paid for by ABB so we took it. Fuck ABB.
  • Wednesday - Didn't have to ferry Ellie today as it's her Kindergarten graduation and Carter was able to be there for it. Hubby got an email from Toyota for the next steps in the application process. Wow. The next day, not 7-10 days. The poison ivy has not gotten better. It's actually gotten worse.
  • Thursday - Grocery day. Hubby did his Toyota tasks then scheduled another phone interview for the 21st. He then got his official call from Sheetz that he starts Monday. So, he'll work at Sheetz while he goes through this apparently longass process with Toyota. He thinks he'll like the Sheetz job better but Toyota is twice the money, but not a guarantee he'll be hired. Yet anyway. Gah. One day at a time.
  • Friday - Last day to ferry Ellie to and from. Thank fuck. That shit's exhausting. Took the Pilot to get it inspected and an oil change. We had breakfast at the diner next door. Yum. Stayed up late reading. I had the Bourne movies on in the background.
  • Saturday - Kyle's been woring 10 hr days at ABB and he had to work today. He's not happy. Did the cleaning. Anna took Trip with her (and two of her friends) to get tattooes at a place an hour away that was having a Flash Sale. All the ones on the list were $30. It's Trip's first and it's Gengar. Of course. lol They were gone from 5am until 5:30pm. So glad I didn't go. I supervised hubby and Kyle cutting a smallish but tall tree down that was leaning toward the house. It didn't exactly come down where we wanted it, but it caused no damage to anything. So, a win. Unemployment finally hit. Made a whole chicken in the Dutch oven with tiny red potatoes and carrots. Also made rice. The poison ivy seems to finally be calming its tits. I was ready to make an appt with the dermatologist for some prednisone.
  • Today - I need to draft and schedule some posts then I have no idea what I'll do. I wanted to work outside yesterday but was too tired after cleaning since I stayed up late reading. I might go out and work on the raised beds since it's supposed to rain Monday.

Mom's week: Chemo infusion went well Weds. She woke up with a ton of energy on Thurs. but found out when the oncologist office called that the meds in her pre-infusion could give her a burst of energy that would have her crashing by day 3 so to take it easy. She said she wished they'd told her that before she'd (proceeds to list 100 things she's done just that morning). LOL Friday she said her knees were hurting and maybe it was from doing too much. But by Saturday all her joints ached and she was tired. So, joint aches are a side effect of the chemo and the fatigue was probably from the energy crash. The aches are supposed to go away before her next treatment which is Weds. Every Weds for 12 weeks. 1 down, 11 to go.

Touching Nature: Cool in the mornings and nice during the day. Rained all day Wednesday. Progressively got warmer during the day as the week went on until it was in the low 80s yesterday. We can smell the Canada fires all the way down here in NC. And sometimes it's a bit hazy.

Book News: Got a few read. Yay! Need to write reviews. sigh

Don't Touch That Dial!: Not been watching much of anything. Which is probably why I got more reading done.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Zen Match, jigsaw puzzles

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Normalize this.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. I hope your husband's application with Toyota goes well. And that your poison ivy gets better, and your mom gets through her chemo without too many side effects.

We had a lot of wildfire smoke up here in Virginia as well. Two days of weird skies and Code Red air (nearly into the Purple range.) Not as bad as New York, but bad enough. I hope we all have a better week -- especially the poor folks in Canada who are dealing with the fires up close.

  2. I really hope the poison ivy clears up for you. So far so good for your Mom's chemo. She'll know to take it a bit easy next time. It looks like it will be a hot one this week with a couple wet days. I always have some yard stuff I want to do.
