Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front:
  • Sunday - Mother's Day. I read and got some presents. It was a relaxing day.
  • Monday - Worked on the blog.
  • Tuesday - Worked on the blog.
  • Wednesday -  Dental appointment. I survived. I go back next Weds to do the fillings on the other side - one big that I lost and a small one. Worked some more on the blog. I'm finally getting sorta caught up with things.
  • Thursday - Grocery pick up. Hubby pressure wshed the house. Made Irish Stew in my Dutch Oven. Hurricanes played Game 1 of Round 4 play offs against the Florida Panthers. They lost in quadruple overtime. Ugh.
  • Friday - Mowed. It started sprinkling, but I got it all done before it started raining for real. Hubby and Trip picked up the grandkiddos for a sleepover.
  • Saturday - After the grandkiddos went home in the afternoon I did the cleaning. Cut hubby's hair, made Hamburger Helper for the guys (Anna and I don't like it so we finished off the Iris Stew), then read before working on the blog. The Hurricanes are playing Game 2.
Anna picked up Vengeance's ashes from the vet. He's home now.
  • Today - Weather permitting we're going to pull out a stump and bigass root in front of the house and put in a retaining wall. I might make strombolis for dinner.
Hubby has some phone interviews this coming week and unemployment is kicking in. I also set up health insurance coverage for June 1st. I need to check out dental insurance, but we're ok with vision. We were already set up with our own policy with VSP. Kyle still hasn't received his pay increase that was promised would hit no later than March 28th. Do I need to mention how pissed he is? He's started looking elsewhere for a job. He makes decent money even without the pay increase, has friends there, and the work is ridiculously easy, but overall morale is low, upper management is terrible, and HR is a fucking incompetent joke. Plus, he's pissed about how they treated his dad, so he's definitely an unhappy employee.

Mom's week: She had a good week. Just puttering around the house, doing what she wants when she wants. So far she isn't bored. lol She has a scan tomorrow and an appt to go over the results Tues. My SIL had her surgery fpr her torn meniscus on Weds,  but she'll take mom to the Tues appt since my bro has a meeting he had already rescheduled and couldn't do it again. She could use all the posivibes, prayers, and good juju you could send her way that the immunotherapy is having some positive effects.

Touching Nature: Warm this week then some rain and it cooled off a bit. I did the mowing and Trip did the weed eating. Hubby pressure washed the house.

Book News: I have several reviews to write. And so many books to read. Right now I'm reading a book set at the start of Covid, but in the UK. It's bringing back memories especially about toilet paper hoarding. FFS

Don't Touch That Dial!: Haven't watched anything of importance this week. Except the Carolina Hurricanes in Round 4 against the Florida Panthers.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Wordle, Zen Match, jigsaw puzzles

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom:

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. Good luck with the heavy gardening today. We cut down a diseased cherry tree last year and had a time getting the stump and root out.

  2. OMG... the toilet paper shortage...I remember when we got caught of guard, not realizing people were going to hoard things. Bummer about the company treating your family like that. Hugs.

  3. Mmm I love Hamburger Helper!!!

Prayers and good vibes for your mama and that the menfolk get their employment situations worked out. So sorry about Vengeance. Best name ever.

  4. I hope this week your guys find some great jobs. Otherwise, it seems like you are accomplishing things and moving along. I hope your Mom had good results.
