Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: I got the mowing done and it was so nice and cool out. Lovely! Too bad it never lasts. It can stop raining for a bit now. We're plenty moist here. It's way too wet to try and drag that bigass pine tree stump out so it's just sitting there in its mud bath, mocking us.

Rocky had his vet app't. We've now had him (and Eevee) a year. He's a drama queen. Screaming bloody murder when they were trying to draw blood for his heartworm test and being a little shit so they had to prick him 4 times. Other than that and he's a tiny bit on the chonky side (who can resist giving him treats, have you seen his cute face?) he's in good health.

Did some errands on Tues, mostly shopping. Had to hit the pet store, Tractor Supply, and BJ's. Weds we did the Walmart grocery pick up.

Then Thursday Kyle had his wisdom teeth out. He did great. I spent the day helping him with ice packs (20 min on, 10 off) and making him milkshakes he had to eat with a spoon because no straws allowed. He also had scrambled eggs, ice cream, Jello, and pudding. Friday he had more scrambled eggs and milkshakes, but also ate a muffin, string cheese, and a quesadilla from Taco Bell. lol He was given a prescription for an opioid and I think that's the first time I've ever had to show my driver's license to pick up a prescription. He got 20 pills for 98¢ at CVS and I told him, "Sorry, Kyle. I'm going to sell these on the black market to pay for your surgery." But he's been taking them at night and cutting into my stash! WTF! LOL He uses ibuprofen during the day though, so he's not taking too many.

I'm drafting this up on Saturday morning because I have to get some shit done before the Hurricanes play Game 7 at home against the Bruins at 4:30. I'll do a swift clean and empty litterboxes then I need to vacuum Anna's car and clean the windshield (if it quits raining) because we're leaving first thing in the morning to go to mom's in Ohio. Which also means packing up the car with suitcases, her PC, and she's taking Mr. Puggles with her. But leaving her cat Captain Kirk with us since we don't think he and mom's cat Gracie will get along. Anna says she's going to grandma-sit until the end of June. Mom said she'll put Anna to work. So win-win. Brings back the day 20 years ago when Anna was 4 and mom & dad came down to visit and pick her up. She went to Ohio for 2 weeks each summer for a couple of years before the boys were old enough to go with her and we would get 2 weeks of kid-free time while they were spoiled and had a blast on the farm. Ah. The good ol' days. Anyway, I'm renting a car to return on Monday (packing as much as my shit into it that I have stored in the big barn since a U-Haul was going to be $700-fuck that!) leaving the menfolk here to fend for themselves for two whole days. Think they'll die? Bwahahaha!

Touching Nature: It was cool all week. So nice! We got occasional rain which meant not much getting done outside. I did manage to get the mowing done and Trip did the weed eating. That's about it.

Book News: Still not getting much reading done. It's really starting to piss me off.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Still watching Without A Trace. Creeping even closer to finishing this. By closer, I mean we're more than halfway done. Maybe 2/3 or so.

At the Flicks: Nope.

Cyberspace Playground: Still enjoying Wordle.

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: If you get your wisdom teeth out and the oral surgeon doesn't give you what I call a face sling, then get something to hold your ice packs to your face. Kyle used his old blankies (that he calls his BBs lol) because he didn't get a nifty sling. They were just big enough to tie around his head and keep the ice packs in place. Hey, whatever works, right?

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  3. I got the lawn mowed and weed n feed this week. Yay! Since the weather is going to be hot this coming week that is awesome. Hopefully there will be at least one cool day the following week to mow again. I've liked the rain since it means not having to water the plants. I hope your trip goes well.

  4. I love Slayton. As the mother of a recovered addict who fights every day, I am glad you aren't truly selling them on the black market. Have a safe trip home. I hope the weather stays cooler for you.

  5. Getting your wisdom teeth taken out doesn't sound like fun. But the food you get to eat afterwards sounds like a great consolation prize.
