Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: What did I do this week? Oh yeah. Trip and I started on his and Kyle's room. Taking stuff out, wiping down walls, and moving things around. My house is in chaos and I seriously had no memory of exactly how many tubs of toys were stored under their bed. For reference, Anna is now 24, Trip 22, and Kyle 21. LOLOLOL  Moving on...they have a bunk bed that is a double not a twin and it is raised because it came with a trundle bed we never used. So, there was A LOT of stuff under their bed. A.LOT. It is now all out in my dining area (that we don't use as a dining area) and we're having to walk around it all. We need to go through the tubs and pitch anything broken or just plain junk then sort the rest out. I'm serious. There are toys that the grandkiddos could be playing with! They are going to freak out the next time they come to visit. It'll be like the Ultimate Christmas. LOL Trip and I are going to build some bookshelves and an entertainment center. I think they're going to get a bigger tv and put their PS5 back in their room so we'll need to plan how we're going to do it all before we go buy wood. In any case, we can't put their bed in place until the windows are done because the bed will butt up against the window sill and overlap one window by about 9".

Speaking of the new windows...I called about them since I knew we were getting close to 20 weeks from the order date and found out they are due to come in this week. AAHHHHH! Anyway, I wanted to make sure we would have some notice so I could send the dogs to doggie day care. If the windows are correct and none are broken we could get them installed as early as the week of the 24th. Except, we're not exactly ready and Rocky needs to have an evaluation day at the Pet Lodge (I knew I should have done that in December sigh), but he's going on Feb 1st. So I went ahead and put the other three down for doggie day care that day as well. I'll be waiting for Window World to call to actually schedule and I should be able to request Feb 1st. Can't wait for windows that don't leak cold air and have condensation on the inside. Woot! Next up is the computer area. Gah! And honestly? I don't know how we're going to do Anna's room. Her bed goes completely across her window and we pieced it together with cubes and plywood and screwed it all together including into the wall. Fuck this noise *huge sigh*

Tuesday I dropped hubby's CR-V off because he said it needed brakes (it didn't really but I went ahead and changed them anyway), so Anna followed to bring me home. Of course we had breakfast at the little diner next to the mechanics because the food is delicious and cheap. Hubby and I picked it up after he got off work and we had dinner at Chili's.

My eldest spawn called Weds morning and when I saw his name on the caller id I knew something must be wrong. He never calls. We chat on FB or text, but calls are few. Plus, it was a work morning and since he repairs medical equipment he's always balls-to-the-wall busy. He came home from work Tues evening and found his beloved 14yo sheltie Tank (who I called Tanker Toy) dead. My poor son has had a rough few months. He lost his grandmother (my ex's mom) who he lived with and was taking care of, he got Covid over Christmas and New Years so had to spend both holidays with only Tank for company, and now Tanker Toy is gone. My heart breaks for him. 😭

I burned the Hurricane Stump Friday and Saturday, trying to get it to a manageable weight for the tractor to drag it across the yard to the burning pile without tearing the yard to hell and gone. It should be ready now and with the snow/freezing rain/rain that's coming today it'll be too wet for awhile to burn again.

Touching Nature: Decent during the day, but below freezing at night. I'm writing this up on Saturady evening since we're supposed to get a wintry mix today. We are as ready as we can be. I was really hoping for snow, but I jinxed it because I ordered a sled. LOL And we already have two. Oh, well. Last sledding snow we got was December 9th, 2018. I'm ready for a shitton! Come on! We do not need ice. Ice and wind is what knocks out the power here.

Book News: I wrote a review but finished a book, so I still have 13 reviews to write. Maybe I can get them written this week. Seriously. Stop laughing.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Hubby and I need to watch Rogue One since it's next in our Star Wars chronological watch, so we started The Mentalist instead. Yeah, it doesn't make any sense. Just go with it. Hoping to finish The Witcher Season 2 today or tomorrow and start The Book of Boba Fett since hubby and Kyle are off.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Nope.

Randomness: Like, say, writing reviews.

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Do not let people suck the fun out of your life. Do whatever the fuck you want that makes you happy. Unless it's illegal. Then don't get caught.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. That is too funny that your 20-something kids have tubs of toys under their beds.

I am VERY sorry to hear about Tanker Toy and agree your eldest has had a heck of a time of it lately. It's his turn to have some good stuff come his way.

  2. Ah I'm sorry about Tanker Toy, so grateful he was there for your son over Christmas and New Years. We love our Lulu and take her with us on vacation even. We are getting the freezing rain mostly without much snow. Lulu hates it and doesn't want to go out at all, so we won't be walking today. So I finally get to spend a day in PJ pants. Enjoy your day off tomorrow.

  3. Aww, poor dog. And poor son. I was at home when my previous two dogs died. I don't know if that's better or worse than coming home from work and finding them. Good luck with the bedroom cleanup. I'm in my 30s and still have a few of my childhood toys in my closet.
