Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: Monday was a shitty storm day. Well, I like snow because I rarely see it anymore (I lived my first 30 yrs in Ohio), but it barely lasted, so boo. It's been chilly. Like, freezing or below at night. We're really feeling these drafty windows (which have been shitty since the day this house was built), but our new windows should be only a couple of weeks away. Lead time was 20 weeks and that should be the 25th or so.

Trip and I plan to tear apart the boys room tomorrow to get the bunkbeds away from the windows. It's a big project. Their room is packed full of their crap. lol And their bunkbed is a double, not a twin. Hopefully we can get the bulk of it emptied Monday and the bed moved when hubby and Kyle get home from work since I'm not sure Trip and I can move it ourselves. Then Tuesday would be rearranging, cleaning, and putting things back. Typing this out I'm realizing that may be a tad optimistic. LOL Well, we don't have any appts this week so that's good. Although I do need to drop hubby's CR-V off to get the brakes done on Tuesday. Anna's off work so she'll follow. Trip will tag along and we'll have breakfast at the little diner next to the mechanic's place then come home and keep at the room. That's the plan anyway. After we get that done we need to start on the computer area where the boys have their gaming computers. Ugh. So much stuff to move.

Anna's boyfriend, Andrew, had one of those rare reactions to his 2nd Covid shot called myocarditis, or inflamation of his heart muscle. He spent a couple of days as the youngest resident of the cardiac unit of the hospital, but is home now. He's on some meds and is not allowed to let his heart rate accelerate for at least several weeks (no exercise of any kind), preferably a couple of months, but he should be fine.

Some appts, some errands, a lot of blog work. That's about it for my week. Hubby and Kyle will be working 10 hr days this week so that means an alarm going off at 3:30am. Sweet fuck I'm going to be tired even if I go back to sleep.

Touching Nature: So, Monday we had snow! Not much to speak of, but it was definitely snow. And wow, the wind was wicked. It started out as thunderstorms in the wee hours of Monday morning before it finally turned to snow around 11:00ish. Then temps dropped and we've been chilly at night. Supposed to warm up a bit today and rain then settle into sorta NC winter weather. We'll see. Yesterday I built up some old dry wood around the huricane stump and hubby made some cuts in it (sorta like a Swedish torch) before dumping some old kerosene on it to soak in. Then we lit it. I can already tell it's going to take awhile to burn this sucker. It's pretty fucking big.

Book News: I may have 13 reviews to write. *cough* In other news though, I drafted 42 posts. I've got a lot of tour books and memes coming up in the next few months. I figured I'd take a couple of days and just draft those posts so all I have to do is drop the review in and hit schedule.

Don't Touch That Dial!: We've watched 4 episodes of The Witcher Season 2.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Nope.

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: If your husband pours kerosene on a stump to get it to burn and you go out to feed the fire, you will smell like kerosene (and wood smoke) even though you never handled the kerosene.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. That sounded scary, the Myocarditis. Glad he's doing well!

  2. I hope the new windows are much less drafty! Way to go on drafting all those posts! I am still playing catch up on the backlog of reviews I didn't get to last year. I got eight written this past week and hope I can get about that many done this coming week too. I can't believe I let myself get so far behind.

I love the cover of The Lobotomist's Wife. It sounds good too! I hope you enjoy your reading and have a great week!

  3. I finally made myself write some reviews last night. I wanted to be a sloth last week and I was. This week I want to find some new recipes as I'm tired of our regular food. Good luck with your projects.

  4. The Lobotomists Wife was my pick too.
The possibility of myocarditis from the vax did concern me, but my sons and I both decided CoVid was a bigger and hmore unpredictable risk. I hope he is well soon.
I’m behind in reviews already too!

Wishing you a great reading week

  5. I'm glad I didn't know about that myocarditis thing before I got my shots cuz I'm a-scared of stuff like that and would never have gone through with it.

  6. 😂 😂 "so here's the thing" love it!

I hope the bunkbed move went (is going?) well and has been easier rba than you anticipated. Yuck for 330am wake ups. And cold. And snow. Ugh. I'm exhausted and cold just typing it 😂
