Hello and Happy Sunday!

It's November already!!

On the Home Front: Hubby and Kyle are still getting up before the asscrack of dawn to go to work. Some days I went back to bed, others I stayed up and got some things done. They both got increases in their salaries. Not technically raises, but the company said they're trying to be more competive. We'll just call them raises anyway.

I cleared off one of my kitchen counters (my only corner one) that had become a catchall for all kinds of crap I didn't know what to do with. I bought some bamboo shelves and a breadbox and tidied it all up. I also cleaned out our drinking cups cupboard in the process. I had glasses and cups in there from when the kids were little. I'm talking sippy cups still! And the youngest is now 21. FFS LOL I mean, I could use them for the grandkiddos, but I bought them their own cups and they love them so...*shrugs* I'm donating many of them to Hospice, while some just got thrown away or recycled. I also cleaned out and tidied the pantry this week since it hadn't been done in a very long time. I still have the upper and lower corner cupboards to go thru and two drawers. Plus, I'm rethinking where I keep the dogfood.

After I get that tidying done Trip and I really need to start going through his and Kyle's bedroom. It is a disaster area. I am not understating this. It's needed it for a long time. In any case, we need to move their bunkbed (which is a double, not twin) because it'll be in the way when the window guys come in January and I've decided to move the bed to a different wall then work from there. It'll be a big project. Wait...didn't I do something like this last year for Anna?! The project I thought would never end?!

Trip and I have some things to do outside this week that hopefully won't take too long. I always say that and it never happens. I can only hope though. lol

My nephew and his girlfriend went to Guatemala to help build libraries a couple months ago. They'll be back next month, but while they are there he proposed to her. We're getting a new family member. Woot!

Mom is remodeling her kitchen. She had it painted a few months ago, but was still dissatisfied by how dark it is in there, so she decided the 35 yr old brick backsplash and goldish counters needed to go. There's no way she's getting rid of her cherrywood cabinets. They are gorgeous and custom built. Anyway, the new counters and sink were installed this week and it's already lighter in there! The backsplash won't be done for awhile because her contractor is so busy, but at least the counters are done. Woot woot! She said she's not replacing the linoleum because even though it's 35 yrs old there's nothing wrong with it. But I'm betting it'll go next year after the sticker shock of this remodel is a distant memory. HA!

I think that's it? If I forgot anything I'll try to remember for next week.

Touching Nature: It's gotten nipply out. We were actually below freezing Thursday and Friday nights! I have completed Battle VI of Leafageddon yesterday but Ma Nature decided to join the fun and blew a shitton more of the Leafy Horde down. Grrrr! It's supposed to be nice this week so hopefully Trip and I can get a few things done outside.

Book News: I still have 5 reviews to write and I've read nothing this week.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Still rewatching Criminal Minds (in Season 6 now) and hubby and I are progressing on Star Wars: Rebels.

At the Flicks: Going to see Dune today.

Cyberspace Playground: Nope

Randomness: I think they're laughing because all that roughage is causing some serious farts and farts are hilarious.

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: I may have mentioned this before, but for anyone new (and because I just did it yesterday)...you know that brush roller in your vacuum? The one that gets hair and strings wound all around it? Did you know you can cut the debris off instead of replacing the entire roller? I used to use a utility knife but had a genius moment and started using a seam ripper. SO much easier.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. I thought I was going to need to mow again but I think it's over. There are plenty more leaves going to fall yet. I didn't mind the cooler weather exactly but I'll be glad to see the 65-70 again this week to do a few more things outside. I threw out a bunch of stuff when I was packing up for the kitchen reno and now I'll have to decide where to put everything in the new cabinets.

    1. I could actually mow one more time but I don't wanna. LOL I don't mind cooler weather but the fact it went from upper 70s to freezing was just too much. 60s and 70s are normal for this time of year so I'm glad we're getting that back. :D

Yay for new cabinets! I enjoy the deciding part of where to put something. Should it go here? Or here? Good luck!

  3. Oh the seam ripper idea is brilliant! I have long hair and a lot of it so I shed like crazy and always get the roller tangled. I normally use a knife but a seam ripper sounds like it would work so much better and be much less hazardous. We've been doing a lot of cleaning out and it is terrifying to see all the junk we keep and my husband is one of those who will basically throw away anything that isn't nailed down so I don't even know how we accumulate! Have a great week!

    1. Oh yeah! You're going to love using a seam ripper. So much easier and safer, too!

We both save way too much stuff. It's ridiculous lol
