Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: I've spent the week saving files, setting up my new computer, and cleaning my portion of the office. Hubby's portion is up to him. It's been...exhausting. The office was quite a mess. I still have some stuff to sort through, but I got all of the office supplies sorted and tidy once again and things thrown out, recycled, or moved elsewhere. I am enjoying the space and the tidyness. That is, if don't look at the filing I need to go through. Eek. Saving that for another day. Then I realized I didn't save some things from my old computer so I'll have to power it up, hook up a monitor and mouse and save what I forgot. *exasperated sigh*

Pssst: Hubby is the Bears fan. I'm a Browns fan. lol

Regarding my new computer, I'm still getting used to Windows 10. I had Windows 7 and while I have Windows 10 on my laptop, I don't use it often enough to know it very well. In addition to all of this learning, I can add Google Sheets to my repetoire and who knew MS Office has a free version online?! I swear I'm falling well behind on tech. So I'm learning those as I go along. Who knows? I may add Google Docs and move all my photos to the Cloud. But not any time soon. My old brain can only handle so much larnin'. As a final note on this experience, I hooked up my new keyboard and I love it! It's like an old typewriter and it has colors!! Holy fuck I love these keys!
Speaking of learning new things, Trip has been complaining about his smartphone and I looked. Our (Trip, mine, and hubby's) phones are now 3 yrs old. Where does the time go?! I guess we'll upgrade in the very near future. Like, probably this week I'll check out the phones, but it's most likely we'll get one like Kyle's who had to upgrade earlier this year when his was having issues. Ugh. More tech shit. But I'll get though it. I have plenty of chocolate. And wine.

Thursday evening we went to Raleigh for the Carolina Hurricanes home opener. It was fun and they won! Woot! But oh boy, we were exhausted on Friday. We didn't get to bed until after midnight and had to get up at 4:30 for hubby and Kyle to go to work. So I went back to bed after they left at 5:00 and got back up at 8:00 to feed the furries. I spent all day Friday out of sorts because my routine was all fucked up. lol

And finally, I cancelled our AT&T internet now that I hooked up my wifi enabled computer. We've had this shittyfuckingass service for over 2 decades. It is horrible. If you have been reading my blog regularily or even semi-so then you have probably, at least once, read about me bitching about AT&T and not having any other alternative - no cable and satellite is too slow for streaming and gaming. Well, T-Mobile home internet finally became available here (before Star Link and even before Verizon which has a fucking tower not even a mile away!) and I jumped at the chance to try it out. Woo doggie! We've had it about a month or so and it's fast. Like Superman or The Flash fast compared to AT&T U-Verse and we're only getting between 2 & 3 bars (out of 5) on it! To compare, AT&T was downloading at an average of 4 Mbps. We were lucky to be streaming at all at that speed. T-Mobile is clocking in right this minute at 72 Mbps while I'm working on my blog, the boys are gaming, 3 phones are on it, and Anna is streaming a movie. During the morning, when I'm the only one on, it zooms at around 140 Mbps. So, yeah. To say I'm happy is understating it. It's new and there may be issues in the future (some reviews said the modem tower tends to go out) but if they can be fixed quickly it'll be so worth it for the extra $10/month than what we were paying with AT&T. *knocks on wood*

Touching Nature: It got kinda warm again - in the 80s. Ick. I wanted to work outside on Friday to get some Fall clean up done, but we were too tired from Thursday. Fall clean up and Leafageddon Battle III is on the agenda for this coming week.

Book News: I'm currently reading 3 books at the same time. I need to finish one though for a book tour review on Monday. I better get crackin' on that one. I'm 47% done so should be able to finish it off.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Hubby and I have completed Star Wars: The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch. Next up is Solo and then we'll start Rebels. I'm in season 3 of my Criminal Minds rewatch. The Indians are out of the running for the MLB playoffs and hockey has started so we'll be watching the Carolina Hurricanes now. Plus NFL on Sundays.

At the Flicks: Going to see Venom today.

Cyberspace Playground: Nope

Randomness: I am officially a pirate.
Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Learn new things. Stay up to date. You ever smell stagnant water? Yeah, don't be a bog monster.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. LOL I'm a pirate too!

Yay for the faster internet, I can imagine that's an amazing feeling. My brother and his partner recently switched to the Verizon 5G and have been really happy with it as well.

    Have a great week!

  2. The office is looking great! I have a pile on top of the filing cabinet of To-be-filed. Why didn't I just file one thing at a time so they would all be filed. I'll have to get at it now the outdoor work is slowing down. But the leaves are continuing to fill the yard. I use a separate keyboard with my laptop but it doesn't have those pretty lighted keys.

  4. Congrats on the faster internet and getting the office cleaned! I have good internet at home, but we use satellite at work because it's in the middle of nowhere. Satellite internet is awful. I've considered rage quitting my job because it's so hard to get anything done.
