Hello and Happy Sunday!
Goodbye August. Hello September.

On the Home Front: So it's September already. WTF.

I think I forgot to mention the results of my ultrasound.  Just FYI, vaginal ultrasounds are uncomfortable as shit. After I spent 1 million hours wating while the tech took pics of every millimeter of my uterus I was finally released to go sit in the waiting room. Where I waited for another million hours before I was called back again to talk to the doc. She said my uterus had stuff in it and before she could go on I said, "Dammit, doc. I have to put my stuff somewhere. I'm running out of room!" Luckily she knows I'm a smartass. Anyway, the short story is there is no baby, thank fuck. There are no fibroids, cool. And there is nothing concerning. Excellent. Most likely explanation is my uterus and/or ovaries are throwing a tantrum about heading into menopause, but if it happens again then she'd like to do a test for cancer cells which she feels is not likely but would be a peace of mind thing. We could have done the test while I was there, but I was honestly so over being there and didn't feel like taking off my pants again when there was no money involved. So, I'll wait and see what happens. If it misbehaves again then I'll go in and do the test. For now, all is well.

I think I mentioned I was getting quotes for windows. Pella and Champion were just under $20K. Yikes. I had Window World (recommended by a friend) out on Monday and they are $10K cheaper with the same awesome warranty as Champion. Guess who I went with? If you said Window World you are correct! So, I obtained financing through our credit union and ordered the windows Friday though the actual order won't happen until Tues since the sales guy is out of town for the holiday weekend. No big deal. Anyway, they are telling me they are 20-22 weeks out so it looks like we'll be getting all new windows in 2022. LOL

In other news, I ordered T-Mobile home internet a few weeks ago (it just became available in my area) and the modem came this week. I got it set up and holy fucking shit! It's fast! No matter where I put it in the house we only get between 2-3 bars (out of 5), but still. F-A-S-T compared to AT&T U-Verse. Like, the download for AT&T is 6Mbps on a good day. T-Vision? 100-160Mbps. The lowest I saw it was 60 when we had many devices hooked up to it and it was around 6pm, prime surfing for most people. Still fucking fast! The only problem so far is that T-Vision and Hulu have not reached an agreement so we can't stream Hulu. Although we may have a couple of ideas for a work around on that issue. Also, HBO Max might have a problem but we'll explore more of that coming up. We still have AT&T internet because I still haven't set up my new computer which has wifi and my old computer does not. So I guess I really need to move my ass on unboxing that baby. I've only had it since March. 2020. O.O LOL I know, I know. I'm aiming for this week. We'll see how T-Vision holds up in the coming weeks. How much you want to bet now that we have a decent service provider our order for Starlink finally goes through? Hahahahaha Lastly, Anna, Trip, and Kyle's newish gaming computers do not have wifi (they probably should have had my oldest son put a wifi card in when he was building them but they were trying to keep the cost down, plus wifi was never really compatible with online gaming--too slow), so we ordered a wifi adapter and we'll see how it does. If it works decently I'll get two more. For now they are still hooked into the AT&T service with an ethernet cable like my computer.

I don't have a whole lot on the docket for this week. We'll see how the weather looks versus what Trip and I do outside. Today I hope to clean the small chest freezer to put in the shed so it can hold the deer corn and birdseed. Maybe I'll also wash the vehicles. And hubby and I need to finish putting composite wood on the 3-person swing. The material that was on there rotted from the weather. Hopefully I'll have pics next Sunday. Hubby and Kyle are off tomorrow so we'll probably just be puttering around the house. Kyle's going to grill some steaks and I have corn on the cob. I hope to laze around, maybe do some reading, and watch some tv. That's the extent of my plans. lol

Touching Nature: Trip and I tamed the feral greenery on Tuesday and I burned the brush pile because rain was forecasted for all day Weds. Yeah, that didn't happen. However, we did get a really good rain that evening, about 1.5" worth. And the temperature cooled way down, so yay!

Book News: I'm all caught up with reviews. I have so many books to read. Why is this year such a slow year for reading?!

Don't Touch That Dial!: Finished Medium. That ending was shit. We debated what to start next then saw Numb3rs was on Hulu. We never finished that after we dumped DirecTv in 2009, so we fired it up.

At the Flicks: Still none yet.

Cyberspace Playground: Nope

Randomness:
Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: I'm not sure if anyone has ever mentioned this before, but the skin around your eyes is thin and kinda fragile. Try not to rub your eyes. Yes, I know it feels good sometimes, but try not to do that. If you are cleaning your face, putting on makeup, or moisturizing then do it gently and go toward your nose, not away. In other words, try not to pull on that skin. Also...sunscreen. Use it! There are kinds formulated specifically for your face. There's even make up that has it in it as well as lotions. No excuses. When you're older you'll thank me.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. I loved the cooler weather and waited until then to do the yardwork. Leaf season has begun. UGH. I haven't noticed any big difference of plug-in ethernet vs wifi, the big difference here is SSD hard drives. I hope it's a relaxing weekend and and a good week ahead!

    1. I've noticed leaves are hitting the ground already. I figured it was because it's been so dry and hot. In any case it'll be time soon to fire up my best buddy, Backback Blower.

The proof will be in their online gaming experience. It's not like it used to be. wifi is a whole lot faster now.

So far it has not been relaxing. Why is it that I never have an actual day off? *sigh*

  3. So glad to hear your appointment went well. I hear you on wanting to get out of there and yeah lmao at not wanting to take your pants off without payment 😂.

My brother and his partner just got Verizon 5k (4k?🤷🏾‍♀️) internet for their apartment and have been raving about how fast and inexpensive it is. I have a great deal on my services right now through spectrum, thanks to the covid relief bill, but when that expires I may look into switching as well.

Have a great week! (and unpack that computer lol!)

    1. Anna has 5G on her phone but the rest of us are still using 3 (4?) yr old smartphones with 4G. I'm not paying $1100 for a damn phone. WTF Anyway, we checked to see if we could get Verizon home internet (FIOS) and it's not available here. T-Mobile is taking home internet by storm faster than Verizon it seems.

Um, I still haven't unpacked it. *grimaces*
