Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front: To be honest, I'm not exactly sure what I did all week. This and that I guess. LOL Yesterday I did the cleaning and it took ALL day. I always do a bit of a deeper clean the first weekend of the month.

Yesterday a friend of Anna's came and used a dremel on the dogs' nails. She comes about every two weeks. We've been watching her do it so we're going to get our own dremel at some point. In the meantime, I pay her what I was paying the vet. She does a better job for the price and the dogs are in their home environment so it's less stressful for them.

We have a friend coming to spray bugs outside tomorrow. It's been about 60 days since he's been here and it's time to kill some more of those freeloaders. Especially those asshole deer flies.

Vengeance went to the vet Weds because he has something wrong with his eye. The Doc thinks it's Horner's Syndrome. It should resolve on its own, but we'll keep an eye on it. An eye on it. hehehe Anyway, he also had another bout of bloody diarrhea. That's the 3rd time in about 3 months so the Doc thinks he's just developing some sensitivities to food as he's getting older. We're treating it and keeping a close watch for any signs of dehydration (he's eating and drinking fine, not like back in May yikes), watching for any additional symptoms, and making sure he goes back to normal poop after he's been on the meds. We'll play it by ear.

Touching Nature: It's been so much nicer this week! Too bad it's creeping up into the 90s again. Waaaaahhhhhhh!!!! Trip and I tamed the feral greenery on Monday morning. It.Was.Gorgeous! Rained Tues. Weds we moved some stuff into the new garden shed. Still have a lot to move but I don't want to do too much until we slap down some linoleum which I bought Friday. Trip and I also finished moving the last of the gravel on Friday morning. Rained yesterday. That's about it for outside.

Book News: I wrote a couple of reviews. I have 3 left. I've read 46 of 150 goal on Goodreads. Yikes. That's pretty dismal.

Don't Touch That Dial!: Still watching Medium. That's about it.

At the Flicks: Not yet.

Cyberspace Playground: Nope

Randomness:

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: I dump a 5 lb bag of frozen chicken breasts in my Instant Pot with 3 cups of water (I have the 8-Qt) and cook it up for the dogs. When it's done and cool enough to handle I shred it up, put in lunchmeat containers (gotta love reusing shit), and freeze. That lasts them about 2 weeks since I throw it on top of their kibble. When I get enough containers I'm going to cook up 15 lbs at a time. Well, not at the same time. My pot only holds 5 lbs. LOL

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. I wondered if that dremel would work on my 94-yo mom's thick gnarly toenails and Google says yes! I've been using a pumice stone on them because clippers weren't working. So thank you for bringing such a tool into my awareness!!!!

    1. Oh my gosh! You are so welcome! I would have never thought of that, but it makes sense. :)

  2. I enjoyed the cooler weather this week and I'm not looking forward to the heat wave. It didn't rain quite enough this week either. I make all Lulu's food. I just use 4 things plus vitamins: either ground chicken or turkey, or shredded chicken thighs, brown rice, 1 bag of frozen 4 veg mix (green beans, corn, carrots, peas) + one bag of frozen spinach, green beans, kale or broccoli. She loves it. I make a batch about once a week. No kibble for her.

    1. Heat sucks. The end. lolol

That sounds yummy, to be honest. lol Doc says he can still have his kibble (it's a Senior variety), but if he continues having episodes of sensitivities then I may need to go all natural with vitamins for him.
