Hello and Happy Sunday!

So here's my Mother's Day presents I promised to post.

Bracelet on the left is a special Earth Day bracelet from George who got it at 4 Ocean. Which is where he got the one on the right for my birthday back in March.

Banner (for the mailbox) and books are from hubby. Gnome-related knickknacks are from Anna. She said she's also making me something, but it's taking longer than she planned.

Wrist cuff is from Trip.
And I mentioned Kyle bought Texas Roadhouse food for us. No pics of that. lol

On the Home Front: It's been a week.

On Tuesday Lowe's delivered our shed kit and 6 bags of gravel. We bought a precut shed so all we have to do is assemble it. That will be our project for Memorial Day weekend.

*some assembly required lol

Rocky is doing well. He does not like being crated while we run errands if the chewing of his bed is any indication. He's had some diarrhea, but could just be stress/diet related. Anna thinks he may have kennel cough. He went to the vet this Friday afternoon for his adoption check in and it was confirmed. He has an antibiotic for the cough and a probiotic for the diarrhea. Since kennel cough is contagious we are keeping an eye on the other dogs.

Eevee went to the vet Thursday. She appears to be in good health. We were concerned about the damage to her nails/paw pads. The vet says they look like she tried to scratch her way out of (or maybe into) somewhere, but they are healing with no signs of infection. We'll keep an eye on them. She got a rabies shot and an FVRCP booster, going on the assumption that she has been vaccinated in the past. We are slowly introducing her to the other cats and to Artemis. She's super friendly. I'm not sure if that is her natural nature or she's just so happy to have company after what she's been through. She loves it under our bed and comes running whenever anyone walks back to our bedroom/bathroom.

Nox went to the specialist on Weds for a check on her lung infection and bloodwork to make sure her antibiotic is not doing more harm than good. The fungal test came back with no growth so we are only dealing with bacterial. Which is good. Fungal is nearly impossible to treat. Bacterial is doable with antibiotics which she does not enjoy. I also do not enjoy giving it to her each morning but it must be done. 2 more weeks of meds then back for a recheck. Hopefully she'll get an all clear.

Artemis broke a tooth chewing on a chainlink fence at the Pet Lodge last Friday so she had that tooth extracted Thursday. She is kinda miserable, but will heal. She has some pain meds and some soft food for now.

Captain Kirk went to the vet Friday morning for a distemper booster.

Vengeance, Sugarcube, and Mr. Puggles have not required the Furry Uber Service.

I have spent a lot of time running various furries to the vets. I am so over this week.

Hubby and Kyle had to get up at 3:30am all week again for OT and they worked yesterday 6am-2:30. I stayed up only two of those mornings opting instead to go back to bed until 7:00 for the rest of the days. Hubby also made Team Lead. He said when he was hired at the end of August that he wanted to make Team Lead in two years or under, so he did it 18 months ahead of schedule. Woot!

Touching Nature: It's gotten hot, much too hot for NC in May. WTF. Last Sunday Trip and I tamed the feral greenery all the while it was trying to rain. Yesterday, Trip and I moved gravel to under the back deck, burned the huge brush pile, and split some wood using the log splitter. I want to get some seeds planted this morning and split & stack some more wood then I'm not doing shit the rest of the day. The feral greenery needs tamed again, but it'll have to wait for one morning this week.

Book News: I finished a book, but still have many reviews to write. Maybe I can get to them this week?

Don't Touch That Dial!: Not much.

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Nope

Randomness: Well, shit. *removes book from Planet TBR*

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: If you don't feel like doing something, don't. And don't let anyone make you feel guilty about it either.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. What a week! We also did Lulu's annual checkup with a few vaccine updates for her. We are also catching up on our own medical checkups we didn't do during COVID. This week will definitely be 90s here and the weekend looks rainy. I hope it's not too bad for the shed project. We plan to work on the drainage in the yard and lay some new sod.

  4. PS I love your bracelets but my fave is the one second in from the right. The dark one. Looks almost like a chain-style maybe? Very cool.

    1. Oooh. That's a favorite. I bought it from NOGU and they plant a tree for each purchase of that bracelet. They have all kinds of colors too! That picture doesn't do it justice at all. It's rainbow-colored. Just Google NOGU and you'll see the Kismet links.
