- January ~ Got a fuckton of snow on the 17th. Yay for sledding! Winter Olympics, woot! And then we lost 3 family members in a row on 1/22, 1/30, & 2/3. Wtf
- February ~ Went to our first NHL hockey game. Go Hurricanes! (they lost)
- March ~ I became a half-century old. Got some snow on the 12th and the first day of Spring. Mom & dad celebrated 62 years together. Finally found a vehicle after a 3 month search. I love my Pilot!
- April ~ Replaced the interior and exterior front doors. Omg, I love them even if they did cost an arm, leg, and hubby's right testicle.
- May ~ Anna graduated with an Associates of Science. I got an Instant Pot for Mother's Day from my oldest spawn. Dad had to go to the hospital for edema. A lot of it.
- June ~ Kyle graduated high school. Trip turned 19. Went to Ohio to visit with my parents.
- July ~ I lost my dad on the 4th. This is officially the worst year ever. My oldest son, George, turned 33.
- August ~ Went to Ohio to visit mom. Kyle got his braces off after having them on for a million years. A bigass tree fell across our drive blocking us in until hubby cut it up.
- September ~ Hurricane Florence dumped a shitton of rain on us. Anna turned 21. Hubby also turned a half-century old.
- October ~ Went to Hurricanes home opener. They lost. Kyle turned 18. Hurricane Michael uprooted a huge tree right next to our shed. Luckily, no damage. Scariest storm I've ever experienced. The wind was incredibly frightening.
- November ~ The 5 of us voted as a family. Hubby got laid off until a large machine was fixed. Out of work for 6 weeks. Finished installing ceiling fans in the house. Went to Ohio for Thanksgiving and to spread dad's ashes on the farm. We lost 17 yr-old Snowy the week we got back. I mentioned worst year ever, right?
- December ~ Anna and her boyfriend Alex celebrated 4 yrs. together. Hubby & I have now been playing Pokémon for one year. The kids have been playing longer. Made our own walnut stain. Aren't we clever bitches? Assload of snow on 12/9. Yay for sledding (again)! Hubby and Trip went to Hurricanes game. They lost. Seriously. We need to stop going and maybe they'll win. Went to Ohio for Christmas.

- January ~ All about Organization ~ Cupboards, closets, house, sheds. And omg, my filing cabinet. Also may adopt a dog from the shelter.
- February - December ~ I'm just going to wing it. 1. However, I am going to attempt a garden and some outside projects as well as finally finish the Exterior Library, money willing. 2. I'm also planning to visit mom at least a few times. 3. Get The Author Depot off the ground. 4. Write some monster porn. And maybe a short story or two. 5. Eat healthier and exercise more.
--- AVR News Update ---
On the Home Front: While we've had some good things happen, this year has also been one of the toughest ever. I miss my dad. But we soldier on.
Touching Nature: The weather has been all over the damn place and for the first time in many years we were not in drought conditions. In fact, we've had more moisture than we really need. The ground is beyond saturated. Enough already.
Book News: I read 120 books. My lowest number ever. I'll have a Book RoundUp tomorrow. However, I did have (14) 5's and (26) 4.5s, so a pretty good ratio of awesome reads.
Don't Touch That Dial!: Watched many shows (The Flash, Arrow, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Punisher, The Defenders, Agents of SHIELD, NCIS) and finally finished some like CSI and Longmire.
At the Flicks: Until I started listing them I had no idea we'd seen so many movies this year. Deadpool 2, Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Black Panther, Incredibles 2, Venom, Solo, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Cyberspace Playground: I'm trying to start a business for indie authors called The Author Depot where I help authors with their social media. 2018 has not been kind to me, so I don't have it off the ground yet. Hopefully, I'll have it up and running in early 2019.
Randomness: Dance like no one is watching. But not naked in public because that could land you a fine and/or jail time.
Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: Find something you like to do and do it. Try something new once in awhile. Don't eat junk all the time. Drink some water. Laugh at farts. Ignore people who put you down. Better yet, fart on them and then laugh. But only if you're sure it's just a fart and not a shart. Because embarrassing.
That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.
∞ Shelf Additions ∞
From the library
I suggested many purchases and they were all bought.
I should really start keeping track of them.
Physical books
Added many from Friends of the Library sales.
Also rec'd some for birthday and Christmas.
Review Requests
I cut way back on those this year. I only add a select few since
I have such a huge backlog. That includes staying far away from NetGalley.
Freebies
I added WAY too many of those this year, but
less than previous years. Maybe I'm learning restraint?
