--- AVR News Update ---
Hello and Happy Sunday!

Hello, August! And good riddance, July. Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.

On the Home Front: You may have noticed (or not) that I've been absent from the internet for about a week. We traveled to Ohio to visit family and I don't have a smartphone, so I was offline the whole time. *gasp* I know, right?! I survived not only the voluntary expulsion from cyberspace, but all the traveling, too. And about 1300 miles later, I'm back. My own home, my own stuff, my own bed and, most importantly, my own shitter. I always forget how nice it is having 2 bathrooms until we visit my parents. They have 1 bathroom, but at least they have an outhouse. It's so not the same though especially when it was even a bazillion degrees in northern Ohio. Whew! This trip we took Anna's boyfriend to meet the rest of her side of the family. Happy to announce he survived. :)

For this trip we so did not trust our POS van, so we rented one from Enterprise since it came with unlimited miles. A 2016 Town & Country. Wow. There's electronic shit on that van that I'd never use and some we had no clue what it was for. And 13 cup holders! I said, who the fuck needs 13 cup holders?! And then we started traveling and went, Oh. Right. People who are traveling need 13 cup holders. LOL And so many compartments to store shit. And secret compartments! One we didn't even notice until we got back! O.O Aside from all of that what impressed us the most is the engine. Sweet Baby Jane did that thing have some serious go! Not a lick of hesitation in the mountains even with the air on. If we were going to get another van I'd seriously, way seriously, consider a T&C though I'd need to read the consumer reports first and check with our mechanic for his opinion. Sa-weet!

Oh yeah! Almost forgot! After donating my hair I got some purple highlights put in. I love it! The rest of my family...eh. Poop on them. Not literally. Ok, maybe. Alright, not literally.

Touching Nature: Hot. Too fucking hot. I'm a puddle of sweat whenever I head outside. Fuck you, Mother Nature. Fuck.You.

Book News: I'm so far behind it's discouraging. July has just been a twatwaffle to me when it comes to books and the blog. I've got reviews to write that are now up to 4 weeks in my rear view mirror. I'll need to refresh for those. I'm also 23 books behind in my yearly challenge. In addition, I'm so far behind on answering blog comments that I need the Hubble Telescope to see them.

Don't Touch That Dial!: A few episodes of Supernatural and that's about it. Though while at my parents house my dad was watching some show, I think it was called Mountain Men and it was kinda interesting. Then he watched some show about park rangers out west. Don't remember the name of that. And a wrap up of another show, I think it was called Alone. One of the women in that show cut her hand pretty bad with an ax. Yowzers! When he's not watching political crap he watches some interesting stuff. lol

At the Flicks: Nope

Cyberspace Playground: Nope. Been in stealth mode, so no internet.

Randomness: Thank you to my eldest son for posting this on my Facebook wall. lol

Carol's Nuggets of Wisdom: As a general rule, don't say you don't like something if you haven't tried it at least once. There are, of course, going to be exceptions. I will never try skydiving because me and heights? We're not friends. No, nope, noppity nope. I am not into urine so golden showers are also on the list of Nope, not trying, not even once. But, for the most part, I'll try something once just to see. Who knows? Maybe bacon sundae is good? Ok, no. The thought made me throw up a little in my mouth. That's not a good omen, so best to keep my bacon and my frozen dairy treats separate. Hey, at least I can cross Rocky Mountain Oysters off my list. I tried them and wasn't impressed, so it's unlikely I'll eat them again.

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

  1. You had quite the adventure. It's amazing what cars have now. I really need a new one also, once it's paid off we are getting a new one, leasing it because Ill be damned if I have to spend 400 or 700 to get another car fixed. This car knows we are almost done paying it off because it keeps falling apart.

Glad you had a nice time with your parents. Please tell me she is the one that FB's you in all caps and you FB back in all caps. It always makes me laugh. I feel like she's screaming at you because you live far away.

I couldn't eat bacon on ice cream, I am not even a fan of bacon. I might be a rare human or an alien but I just don't like it.

Have a great week, Carol! Happy Reading!! ox

  4. Sounds like you had an adventure. It is nice to get away but feels good to be home. I'm with you on being behind on reviews. I have some older than 4 weeks I was writing just for my challenges. Hopefully we both won't forget what the books were about lol. I love the purple and wish I was brave enough to do it. Have a great week!

  5. Hopefully you had an okay time on your trip despite everything! I have to say, some time away from cyberspace is probably a good thing. I had a few days in hospital recently and tried to take a few days off as a result!

  7. I do like that Enterprise has unlimited miles. It makes figuring out things with a rental much easier. I'm glad you guys got such a good vehicle, I got - and I kid not - a crappy, old, dirty vehicle when my car died last week. Seriously, it barely had power windows. The rule of thumb is a rental should be nicer, cleaner and newer than your vehicle. Glad everyone survived the trip! Family can be a little disbaragging. When I got my nose pierced (9 years ago, no longer have) my family treated me like the plague. Worst summer of my life. And then people around town made comments on how cute and tasteful my studs were, and it was like all was forgiven, everyone was on my side to begin with. (WTH?) I think your hair is cool and I hope you don't let others' opinions sway your feelings.

  8. Rocky Mountain Oysters??? Are you serious? *gag* Never in a million years! I almost had to leave the table when one was cut in half. I have a weak stomach and a low threshold on my gag reflex...

I am glad you had a nice visit with your family, hate the thought of an outhouse though. Ewwww!

Love you hair! Do you think you will do the purple again? I keep going back for more, LOL! At least my hubby has stopped calling me sparkle. :)
