AVR News Update
Hello and Happy Sunday!

I hope this day finds everyone well. I've been enjoying my little break and have been reading and reading. However, I know find myself procrastinating with the Writing of the Reviews. I have 16 to write, more if I count the Anita Blake books I was rereading, but I may or may not write those up. I've also been trying to fix my Excel Review spreadsheet as I've gotten a tad lax with it. Ok, I've totally slacked off with it. In addition, I've been drafting posts for August, many of which now only need the review added. *wipes forehead* Whew! I will be attempting some review writing today. *fingers crossed*

In other news, I've decided to give myself a little challenge for the month of September (as if I needed any more). I have an Amazon gift card balance (now a bit depleted) and decided I would buy 30~99¢ books and post a mini review for each day of September. I have 17 books and need 13 more. If you know of a good book that's 99¢ on Amazon please be sure to recommend it in the comments. I've listed the ones I've already purchased in My Shelf Additions and I admit it's a bit heavy on the erotica. *cough*

To wrap things up, there are now 5 weeks left of summer break. Senior pictures are this coming week and the kids have to knuckle down and do some summer projects for high school. Fun. Not. We have yet to look at colleges for Anna or practice driving so she can get her license. I guess we need to step things up. School supplies have been in the stores and I don't even want to think about that shit yet. I want to enjoy the time off, dammitall! *sigh*

That's it for me. AVR News Update signing off. May all your books enthrall you.

Amazon Freebies
I'm afraid I went a little nuts with the freebies.
Must have been the adrenaline from the 99¢ purchases.
Cry havoc! And let slip the dogs of war!
*ahem*
Anyway, there's no way to list them all, but here's a few.

  1. Oh man. What a haul. I can't resist those Net Galley Invites. I got the invite for The Traitor as well. Grace Burrowes is awesome.

  2. I'm looking forward to September and all those erotica reviews! You have quite the haul this week - enjoy it :)

And I so know what you mean about the school supplies - it's too soon think about that shit! My stepson has more than a month before he goes back - it feels like they're hitting us early this year :/

    1. Don't forget I'll be starting Wicked Weds back up in August, too. I have reviews scheduled for 8/13 & 8/27. :D

Everything gets put out earlier and earlier. I'm surprised Halloween and Christmas stuff isn't right next to school supplies. Grrr!

  3. HOLY COW!!! Enjoy them all...That's a lot of books :)

I spent the weekend setting up posts so I will be ahead but I always get to laid back when I have nothing to set up. I do have a few reviews to write and have been putting them off which is never a good thing. I love your challenge idea, something I have always wanted to do for October with Spooky reads.

I have projects to do for my daughter and need to get school supplies...it seems like it's happening so fast...make it stop :)

Have a great week Carol and Happy Reading!!!

    1. I've thought about spooky reads in October, too. Maybe not the whole month, but the last half? Hmmm...I better start thinking about that since I'm already scheduling tours for that month. O.O And I definitely want to do Christmasy reads in December. I better get on that, too. lol

I'd make it stop if I could! lol

      Thanks! :)

  4. I noticed school supplies in the stores yesterday. It hasn't even been behaving like summer for that long. Hope you can come by" http://fangswandsandfairydust.com/2014/07/sunday-june-20.html

  6. You get the most interesting books. :D I'm looking forward to monster porn Monday. LOL

I swear school starts earlier every year. Though, educationally there are benefits to that. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

    1. My interests are all over the place. I never know what my books will look like all together on Sunday. LOL Oh! I've read one already and one from NetGalley of all places! So maybe one or two more and I'll have decent MPM post. :D

I agree and I would be totally behind year round school. I think kids lose too much in the long break. If they had 2 weeks or so between quarters then I think that would be better.

  8. Oh my gosh, good luck with that challenge. Mud Vein is 99 cents right now. I loved it. Addicted to You by Krista Ritchie is too. It's the first book in one of my favorite series. The Kate Daniels series is on sale today, but they're $1.99. Anyway, enjoy your books and have a great week.

    1. Thanks, Christy! I'll run and check those out. I've read the 1st Kate Daniels and have seriously wanted to continue. It's finding time that's the problem.

      Thanks and you, too! :)

    1. I'll knuckle down and get them done this week. *whispers* Maybe. lol I do read pretty fast, but I have a bad habit of starting a new book before writing the review and the next thing I know I have several (like 16) to write up. Oops. lol

      Thanks, and you, too! :)

    1. I hope it's fun. *fingers crossed* :) In the course of trying to find books for my son to read (he's reading her Razorland books now) I discovered those. I figured I might try to read them, too. lol

And yeah...how could anyone pass up the Pet to the Tentacle Monsters? lol I've already read it and it actually wasn't too bad. I enjoyed it. But then my tastes are all over the place. lol
