Hello and Happy Sunday!

On the Home Front

Sunday ~ So, I woke up at 7:00am when the power went out. Kyle was just finishing up taking a shower in my bathroom. I think what woke me up was the lack of sound from the exhaust fan in the bathroom and my ceiling fan. I got on the phone and tried to report the outage to the automated system and it routed me to a rep and I was on hold for over 7 minutes. WTAF Since when did they start this bullshit? Anyway, while I was on hold I got a text telling me the power was out and an estimated repair time. I should have just hung up but wanted to make sure my address was reported properly. So fucking stupid. Way to go Duke Energy. Is this why you need even more of our precious money? I couldn't even understand the woman on the phone because it sounded like she had the mother of all colds. What a waste of about 10 minutes. Kyle and I then went out and got the generator hooked up and started. It's kinda fun playing the Breaker Game. That's where we turn things on and off to see what bogs down the generator or not. lol Anyway, we left all the breakers on except for the dryer, the stove, and the heat pump. So we had water from the well, had internet, computers, and basically everything else. It was chilly and rainy, but not cold enough to need heat, so we were comfy. Then the power came back on around 9:00, an hour and 45 minutes ahead of the estimate. Cause given was downed trees. I puttered around and read most of the day. I did write 2 reviews for the blog this week. Cutting it close. Oops. lol Then I coated some chicken legs and breasts for dinner. I didn't have buttermilk so I used regular whole milk and egg. For the crispy stuff I used some saltines and goldfish crackers I pulverized in the chopper mom gave me and added some seasoning. They turned out very tasty. Today is also Kyleigh's 12th birthday. She's almost a teenager! Where does the time go?! Maybe I can talk her into coming over during Spring Break to help organize the craft area.

Monday ~ I worked a lot on the computer, going through emails, and drafting posts for the blog. It was very windy and chilly. Brrrrr! Leftovers for dinner.

Tuesday ~ Worked more on the computer. Seems to be my week to sit in the office. Made meatloaf with ground turkey instead of ground beef. I am never making meatloaf with beef again. This shit was delicious. I might tweak the recipe a bit next time, but yum.

Wednesday ~ Yep. More computer work. I've drafted a shitton of posts for the blog. Mostly upcoming BBNYA posts. Wrote 4 reviews. Yay me! Pretty nice out. Trip and I fed the critters and I opened the windows for awhile in the afternoon. The fresh air smells so good! Fend for yourself for dinner. Though I put a tray of popcorn chicken in the oven for the boys. So is that really fending for themselves? 😆

Thursday ~ Was going to go grocery shopping, but rain settled in. Instead, I sorted and emptied 6 boxes from the craft area and tidied the office. I feel quite accomplished. lol Of course, some of the stuff I emptied is sitting on the kitchen table while I decide what the hell to with it. Made spaghetti for dinner.

Friday ~ Trip and I did the grocery shopping and ran some errands. It tried raining a bit which was irritating, but wasn't as heavy as yesterday. We had lunch at Arby's. Leftovers for dinner. Anna spent the night at Chris's (new boyfriend? maybe?) since they both had to work Saturday.

Saturday ~ Procrastinated then finally started the Saturday cleaning. I'd skip it altogether except the litterboxes needed cleaning. So, despite my lack of enthusiasm, the deed got done in the end. I charged my earbuds, so I could listen to my audiobook. Did several loads of laundry, cleaned both fridges of questionable items, emptied compost, and did a partial feeding of the birds after Kyle carried my Chewy box of seed out to the shed and I went out to put it away. I made sausage gravy biscuits for me and Trip out of the sausage leftovers from spaghetti the other night. Kyle fended for himself. Which meant eating the biscuits we didn't and a chocolate chip muffin.

Today I want to be lazy and read. We'll see how that plays out. Since it's March 1st I'll put out my St. Patrick's Day stuff and put away the Valentine's stuff. And try to remember to change my blog header.
